While your game looks like it's coming along well, I've never really thought it was a good idea to follow up to a sequel of the official games unless you have a well-established team of artists and level designers willing to give time and effort towards your game. It's just a lot to live up to to do so, but I wish you the best.
  2. One way I get creative about things is bouncing ideas that I come up with on the fly off of friends/fellow fan gamers. I find that just brainstorming in general is the best way.
  3. Wow, that is quite an interesting concept. I the black and white graphics and the minimalism, as well as the way you move/shoot! Damn hard though, son. Damn hard. Awesome job so far!
  4. I recommend linking to the video, and not your Youtube user page. As for the game, it looks like you have a decent fighting game going on there, but it's hard to tell what is happening since the video is only going 3-5 frames per second. On another note, I'm not too sure if showing glitches of your own game is a good idea... Let testers figure that stuff out, then fix it! Don't make a video about them, haha.
  5. What a cute game! I love it's simplicity and it's relaxing atmosphere. You should give it some original graphics, and you could make a bit-o-money off this stuff!

  8. Hacks are one thing, fan games are another... but mods of fan games are not SAGE material.

  11. Large Crabmeat's or Sonic's laser? Sonic is using his weakest attack in that, which is a laser that fires every half a second. It's upgradable to fire more often. Large Crabmeat's laser charges up for a second and a half, but it's gigantic. I'm thinking about making multiple characters playable, but I'm not too sure. And I love the minimalistic approach to things as well, but as far as the HUD is concerned, I simply just haven't added it yet, haha! I need a ring counter, score counter, a "super move" counter, and a lives counter. What do?
  12. Man, there's some really impressive stuff going on in this thread! Here's some shots for "Sonic SHMUP," something I'm working on to hopefully release for SAGE 15. I don't have a HUD developed yet for it. :<
  13. So I've decided to get busy with my Sonic SHMUP, and to try and release a demo for this coming SAGE. Problem is I don't have much experience using MMF2, but Blaze, Damizean, and Rael have been helping me to learn some things. I've been working on the game since last SAGE, but only now have I really been able to get somewhere with it since I have more free time. It would really help me out if someone out there would be willing to dedicate some of their time to help me out on a lot of the programming aspects of the game. I've got a screen shot here, as well as some accompanying music for the level in the screen shot you see that I've created to hopefully inspire someone here!   15. She actually wrote that up as a script before she "ranted." Probably could have cut it all down to a minute and a half if she just spoke her mind instead of trying to throw out insults.
  16. Mmm, more high fructose corn syrup! I can't stand to eat those cereals. :< If I eat something like that in the morning, it causes me to crash really bad 30 minutes after, and I get lethargic for most of the day.

  19. Thanks! And yeah, I have MMF2 set to automatically back up the source file. I also back up my own files. Real life happened! I'm finally in a place where I can actually work on things now.
  20. Well, if you're talking about game makers, the last one I seriously got into working with was Klik N' Play, which I really liked... back in 1996, hahaha! I never really got into anything else other than doing sprites, concepts, sounds, and music for SRB2.
  21. I'd like to introduce a fan game I'm working on, called "Sonic Cyclone." Previously known as Sonic SHMUP, because I couldn't think of anything for the title! I'm relatively new at using MMF2, and along with a bit of help from Blaze, I've been beginning to understand how MMF2 works. Anyway, to start off the topic, here's a screenshot from the "test level." Everything from the sprites to the music are made from scratch. Look for a full demo next SAGE!
