  1. Man this reminds me a lot of a GBA or SNES game for some reason.
  2. We have quite a lot of birthdays! Hmm, what was happening in September...
  3. Your thread needs more love. I guess everyones waiting til SAGE! Love the sketches, are they commissioned?
  4. Happy Birthday dude! Hey, I wasn't late!
  5. Happy birthday to one of our veterans!
  6. I wish the guy who had designed the Classic levels in Generations designed the levels for Episode 2.
  7. Something about Project Spikepig, a bad keyboard, something cancelled, and SAGE?
  8. Happy late birthday, ila! Sounds like it was a good one!
  9. Sonic 1: Star Light Scrap Brain Sonic 2: Chemical Plant Oil Ocean Metropolis Sonic 3K: Hydrocity Carnival Night Launch Base Sky Sanctuary Fan Games: Gigalopolis - Sonic Classic Steel Station - Sonic Axiom Titanic Tower - Sonic Before the Sequel
  10. Just a small bump since SAGE is around the corner. The map is completed so we're starting to implement gimmicks, as seen in Zeros most recent video.
  11. It's called Wreck-It Ralph, not Wreck-It Eggman and Other Cameos
  12. Well it easily is do-able, it's just the matter of nobody really wants another Sonic 1 remake.
  13. I'm pretty excited for Rayman Legends and NSMB-U. I might pass on NSMB2. The coin power up doesn't look that interesting to me. Kind of wish they had made 3D Land 2 instead or something. My Mom came in while I was watching Nintendos conference on Spike (I crawled out of bed right as it began and just sank on the couch and flipped channels, unaware they were even airing E3 on TV lol), she thinks the way the Scribblenauts characters run is funny.
  14. It's at least a good thing when the thing my main criticism with your fan game is the fact you have a normal "green hill" level as the first level. Sonic 2 Game Gear had Underground Zone as its first zone, Advance 3 has Route 99 as its first, and Sonic 4 Episode 2 has Sylvania Castle as its first zone. When games deviate from the norm, it can easily bring out more creative results. Graphic wise, the yellow rocks on the desert level need more contrast. The HUD itself could use some contrast. The grey in the letters is weird when everything else uses a solid shade of black.
  15. A maze full of spikes is fake "difficulty" and isn't fun for the player at all.
  16. It's definitely a much better start than other attempts I've seen, but one rule of thumb for Sonic games is spikes should never be excessively used. I also recommend studying Sonic maps.
  17. With a name like "Sonic Primary," I came in expecting horror. Glad to know that the worst thing in here is that stretched background. Hopefully you'll fix that.
  18. The Advance sprites aren't made to be shaded Genesis style. He'd be better off trying to use the Mod-Gen Sonic sheet or something. Just reshading a sprite to a different shading style doesn't make it "fit," because the art style is still evident, which the Advance art style clashes with the Genesis art style.
  19. I think it would be a good idea to decide if the game is going to be a Genesis style game, or an Advance style game because right now your fan game looks like it's having an identity crisis.
  20. I would recommend keeping it how Sonic 1, 2, 3K, CD, Crackers kept it. The Advance perspective looked weird within its own games, such as Secret Base, Cyber Track, etc. It worked better in zones like Neo Green Hill and Casino Palace because the floor tiles were designed to have their feet (and thus whole body) at those angles.
  21. I said perspective, not shading. The angle the sprites are standing from the camera.
  22. Unless the graphics of the entire game are designed around that perspective, I don't see it working.
