  1. Ok, that emerald rendering is amazing. Beautiful work! Oh, and I see there are a few images that just show the photobucket logo... something happened to them?
  2. Man, those games were full of collision bugs... And the new ones still are too... Some things never change I guess... Anyway, the demo was awesome. Best Sonic fangame I've played yet... You guys really should consider trying to create your own original title one day... you have some real talent there...
  3. Just to put this out there... XNA is probably a great tool to poke around with if you do want to make something more substantial using a traditonal style programming language that may appear a tad more impressive on a portfolio of sorts... It's an intermediate step between say, Blender and python and a C++/ASM engine... Not to mention you can actually run your creations on an Xbox 360 and publish games to Live Arcade... Publishing costs a tiny bit, but developing for Windows PC is free... ___________ But in any event, if you've been doing fangaming for a while, programming ends up being easier for you. Especially in the case of MMF and it's poor... handling of many things, you try to use whatever optimization techniques you can, such as dynamic loading of objects, to the core game logic by ensuring that you do things more efficently (since MMF doesn't know what a GPU is... but construct does)... Anyway, you'll find that you'll have a better starting point when you go to make games in these 'superior' languages because you learned to think logically, which is 95% of programming. The rest, a monkey can do... Do remember, you don't have to have the most impressive showing if you want a good portfolio. Finished projects are always nice, and showing off a variety of solved problems are great as well... Since it's not about the problems you already solved, it's about what you'll be able to solve for the employer, and you'll find that they often may just choose a person with an excellent thinking and logic ability, over a person who shows a seemingly awesome resume/portfolio, but can't demonstrate that ability at the interview... And that last bit is my advice from personal experience, but should apply to any tech related field...
  4. I hope Google's plan to get us better web browsers does work... Firefox 3's been bugging me lately, such that I can't wait till Konqueror fully switches to webkit... I do hope that this should spur more innovation in the underlying browser technology.... I wouldn't call the change in interface arrogant. They did after all say that this was a browser that they like. Heck, it's open source and if it becomes anything like firefox you'll see many, many browsers and programs (sunbird for one) modify it and make it better. The best part though is the use of Webkit over the Gecko rendering engine. Gecko is a bloated mess, like this post... In fact, those changes that people dislike should hopefully spurr people to either modify, or use the good internal design concepts to improve their favorite browsers... I'll take a look at the source code later. I can't wait to see what modifications to the entire thing can be done, and how cleanly (or not) the code is written... I just hope the linux version will be QT4 based... Heck, all the versions should be QT4 based...
  5. How do they all fare when you do a proper browsing session? Like, 5-10 tabs, where you browse each site a bit? I'll test this browser out tomorrow, as many of the concepts seem really neat... That, and I don't feel like booting into Win right now...
  6. Hmm... its smaller than foobar... I'll poke around with it...
  7. Now that's some good lighting... *edit* heh... there's a difference between 16 & 32 bit color mode...
  8. Weeeelllllp... there's always Sonic and the Black Knight... Right? RIGHT!?!
  9. It does look really nice... Now I haven't played the tech demo yet, but I'd hate to see this project just die... I can't offer much assistance but I think it would be helpful to release another demo with fixed bugs sooner than later in order to 1, prove you're not dead, and 2. have something more impressive to show off (I'm basing on the previous comments)... And not just here either... However, if you guys do prove that you have the will to continue, I can at the very least provide you whatever little help I can...
  10. I really like the look of it. Especially the background...
  11. Yeah, it's harsh, but seeing that they don't seem to need us core gamers anymore... Third parties should really step up and try to push Nintendo out of their own console, then we'll see Nintendo start caring... *grins evily* Though the chances of that happening...
  12. Well with the amount of time it takes to get a decent 3d Sonic engine working (assuming these guys can get one done well) that leaves plenty of time to hone in 3d modeling skills...
  13. I don't know but it seems that the shadows are a tad bit dark... Or actually, a bit rough... nice so far though!
  14. Hmm, I may check out and see if I can make it... This could be awesome!
  15. Welcome back... I never knew you, so I'll take this as an "I should meet you" thing... See you around...
  16. Noooo! It's almost over... There's something about SAGE week that's just... awesome... Regardless of content... Oh well, back to many more months of engine tests...
  17. Seriously, a cameo can't save a game from being trash... I hope it's not trash, but it's not like Sonic Team has a reputation for making consistently good games...
  18. Oooh... I love the style of shading you use here. Great work!
  19. So I finally bothered to register for online time attack... Really nice touch...
  20. Rael didn't exaggerate at all. It felt so well put together... I... Felt something there... I was playing this with a friend last night and we played for hours. It was hard at times, but greatly entertaining... The whole saving costs money thing while it may seem frustrating at first, we kinda liked it... Bosses weren't bad at all. That dungeon boss made me WTF a few times before we used the ice... And there felt like there was a bit of IWTBTG in there... Only slightly, but well enough to make us laugh... You have something special here. This game really touched me... in a way or a place that makes me feel comfortable...
  21. I love this game... I'll try out the new build later, as well as give proper comments about what I liked and... didn't like? But it was a solid game. Love the effects, gameplay, and level construction & design. Yes, to me there's a difference. Design to me is the artistry in making the level, such as paths, "gimmicks"(we need a better term for this), tone, etc. Construction is the structure of the design, namely, did it feel like it was a part of the world, or just... there? If only my laptop screen wasn't as high res that the window of the game is in such a tiny box... It's beautiful... I only wish LCDs scale better...
  22. Sounds like Blaze to me... But yeah, you're right, it is rather negative, but so is IGN's review of God Hand especially compared to the glowing reviews it got elsewhere. I can understand why anyone of you would get upset. It's hard work making a fangame especially with such level of detail that you guys have. There'll always be someone who's not impressed, unfortunately, sometimes it's one who writes for news sites... The best press for great games is word of mouth. You'll probably find that the review will be either ignored, or rebutted... Ignore it. Keep up the great work. I know I'm not the only one who'll be ignoring the review. Negative press only incites curiosity, and the community will most likely be against that review (unless they're review-tards)
  23. Nice... Hope you enjoy them and make some epic art!
