  1. I'll do that, but I think you may be on to something there. The side of my case is off since somebody bent it out of shape and it doesnt fit anymore. Ruined airflow ahoy! I'll edit this post with the temps. Temps: CPU SYSTIN: 47 C CPU CPUTUN: 73 C CPU AUXTIN: 50 C GPU CORE: 71 C Seems like my computer is running a bit more than a little hot there. I can't cool it though, the side of my case wont snap on right. Perhaps the amount of dust in there is hindering the fan?
  2. I'll have to try tomorrow. I'll get back to you though.
  3. EDIT: So I tried all graphics modes. The only one that made a difference was forcing DirectDraw + VRAM mode. That made it slower. And the odd hiccup was still there too.
  4. Not gonna happen. I hate to seem rude, but we don't do things for people on a whim here. your best bet is to go to www.themysticalforestzone.com or other similar sites and see if there is something you want there. But no one here is going to make a whole spritesheet for you, not unless you have a good amount of your own work to show.
  5. Could you perhaps show me how to write a .bat file to do that for me? I never knew how to, and i dont feel like browsing through command line every time i want to play a fangame.
  6. Windows XP SP3, sorry I forgot to mention. I updated to the latest graphics drivers a while ago, and this started happening around then (first attempt botched and I had to restart the computer). But I can't recall if these mishaps happened after the botched driver update or before. I'm inclined to think before. As far as new hardware is concerned, that's a negative captain.
  7. That is to say, I can play them, but they are choppy. Let me explain. All the games I play have some sort of problem where every couple of seconds, the game will freeze for a split second then keep going. Sometimes (twice, now), the game will freeze entirely. I've updated Direct X as far as it'll go, and I have the latest drivers so...what gives? Anyone able to lend a hand here?
  8. Oh? Why is that? What is SFML hell? I've never heard of it.
  9. That's because there really isn't much to comment on. The map you've decided to showcase with is messy and its hard to tell whats what. Why don't you create a test map with various obstacles, and specifically show how Sonic navigates each one? Look at SonicGDK or the original BlitzSonic test maps for an example on how to create one.
  10. Maybe its because I installed SonicGDK. I'll try a fresh install and see what happens. EDIT: Booyah. This is bitchin'. Check your pms, btw bud.
  11. Everything is popping up hot on the heels of that Egg Engine vid. Jeez...I can never really wrap my head around how talented Sonic fans tend to be, how how much the Sonic fanbase draws in talented people. I'll review this post after I play a bit. EDIT: Error! Ambiguous package name: Using 'C:\UDK\SonicGDK\UDLGame\CookedPC\SGDK\SonicGDKTestMap.udk', not 'C:\UDK\SonicGDK\UDLGame\CookedPC\Sonic\SonicGDKTestMap.udk' UDK encounters an error after that and must be closed (haha, windows paraphrasing).
  12. So let me get this straight. He was lead designer of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, yet told the Dimps team to make the game like Sonic 2, which he wasn't involved in. Hmm. Yea he can blow it out his ear. I've got a feeling he's only on this project as a name for the hardcore fans to look to and say "Oh, Sonic 4 will be okay. Iizuka is working on it". @Ristar: Dude. You're sick. But that's why you're awesome.
  13. Well then. Apparently, you owe the official Sega blog people a brewsky, Brad.
  14. That's what I mean. They don't have the balls to internalize the project and make it what we want. They're outsourcing and giving them a general direction. "Make it like this", is basically what they're doing. Iizuka can blow it out his ear. What the hell was his role in the genesis games anyway?
  15. The funny thing is, I had to take care of a bunch of kids in a school program for my friend who was sick once. I brought my genesis and sonic 2 with me. And you know what? All of the kids that played it, loved it. Proof, if any, that plenty of the new generation Sonic players can enjoy more old school formats. Sega just doesn't have the balls or the desire to do what we actually want them to do. Nor do they even have the business sense.
  16. Why is it that Sega is completely incapable of giving us what we want? Any other company I can think of knows exactly what its fans want. New Super Mario Bros (Wii and DS), Contra 4. Nintendo and Konami know what it is that fans want, why doesn't Sega. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If fans want something, they better make it themselves, because Sega is not going to.
  17. You know, Sonic 1 is my least favorite Sonic game. Right below Sonic CD That said, you've managed to make it enjoyable, bugs aside. Tighten up the physics and you'll have a real winner. You should have a look at the Sonic Physics Wiki to help you. As for the bugs, they are purely cosmetic or camera related, and I'm sure you can find them with a casual play through. Keep in mind I only got to Spring Yard Zone before I stopped playing.

I don't know if this is good practice or not, but it helps me to break down my objective in terms of things that need doing, and writing functions or loops for each thing that needs doing. For example, if I want to have a square to move around on the screen, I'd write a function that detects button presses, and a function to move the square in the same direction as the button press. Of course, more complicated applications get much more complicated codes. I don't know if this any sense to you or not, though.
  19. That's a pretty neat sketch! I can't draw cars for the life of me, but I've always tried. Forza Motorsport has a user-created skinning option? I didn't know about that!
  20. It's a WIP, cause I can't figure out the folds for his cloth for the life of me. Crit on anything else besides the head (too big/not facing forward) and the skin tone (not dark enough) or the pants (no golden design) is most welcome, though!
  21. Spiderman's so fun to draw, isn't he? Good job with this!
  22. Oh most certainly. Then again...this game isn't for us.
  23. And I assure you, Espeed, that Sega doesn't give a damn about those kids either. Their demographic is kids, not kids-playing-games-they-shouldnt-be-anyway. And their parents, of course. Sonic Colors'll be a commercial success, just you watch. If Sonic 4 can pick up the critical acclaim, Sega might actually start taking Sonic seriously and make a true masterpiece. And if not, we'll end up doing it ourselves.
