  1. I'm glad I'm not dead too! <3 I say "chance" I really mean "I'm already working on it again" but don't wanna commit to it. ;P EDIT: I think I'll be ditching quite a few components though. Namely the upgrade system. I've been thinking a lot about the overall flow of the game, and stopping and replaying a level to farm for upgrades doesn't seem fun. So I guess Shadow will be fully powered from the start, but gimmicks utilizing his powers won't all show up at once...
  2. Hey, remember this? I got swamped with University work, had to abandon all fun stuff like this. But. New term, lighter workload. Might get back into it soon! Also; abandoned title screen / main theme for the game; http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23237150/The%20Fall.mp3 Sounded great while I was working on it, too. >.>
  3. Hey! I was new a couple months ago. Here's a pretty great response I got: http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7141 My own response; I recommend SDASH. It's harder to understand the coding behind it, but it's more complete than REX, imo. I got to grips with it by creating a new character in SDASH from scratch, and then reading all the coding behind Sonic's character to create my own. It worked pretty well. ;D
  4. So here's Sky Sanctuary! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lZkJLq6Pmw
  5. Shadow boss fight; SO glad it's this one, not the other area you fought him. ;D Also; http://board.sonicstadium.org/topic/9422-hidden-assets-of-the-generations-demo-spoilers/page__st__3840 Death Egg and Planet Wisp screenshots.
  6. But dat's the point of I Wanna Be The Guy! Oh, and, here's a pretty rad flash game: http://adamatomic.com/canabalt/
  7. God dammit Chronic, don't do that to Jet. Don't unleash I Wanna Be The Guy on anyone. It's something that must be built up to. Those capable of playing it will hear whispers of it, on the wind. Something calls to them, in the dead of night. They research, and they learn, and they understand what it means to be The Guy. And then, one day, it happens. And they play. And some people become The Guy. Most do not. ...my point here, is that C'MON! He ain't ready! >:/
  8. It's more a problem with the 'underneath' part of it. Which annoys me, cause I spent a lot of time removing the shadow under there. XD The idea with this tileset is that it's moss growing on the wood, not grass, so I liked the idea of not having any shadow under it. But I don't think each piece flows into the next at all. :/
  9. Oh, the lack of a drop shadow on the grass was very intentional. ;D It's just, turns out now, the pieces do not flow right. :/
  10. HRM. Guess I'm gonna be scrapping my tileset and starting over. -___- That grass is so hard to put together. :/
  11. God dammit Bliz, that works perfectly. I don't understand though, what's different about your targetting from mine? Why would mine not attack on the left? @__@ Thanks a lot, man. <3 EDIT: Bliz, I gotta spread the Rep love around before I rep you again. I won't forget! ;D
  12. Then that puts me back to where I was, but I have still made no progress. ;D I can not homing attack anything on the left of the player. I think that's my big problem. Homing attack works fine, as long as your target is on the right, and not too high or too low. So, I need to make it so I can also target enemies on the left. Cause right now, what happens is, the game detects and enemy on the left - but sends me flying off to the right to find the nearest enemy on my right, instead of the one right next to me on the left.
  13. I'm a give this a final bump, cause it's been a week and I have made no progress at all. XD
  14. That's pretty poor logic, Blazefire. It's like, if I was making a noire film, I wouldn't put Lady Gaga on the soundtrack. People still use MIDIs not only to save space - a MIDI track will always be infinitely smaller than any audio file - but also to create the same feel as the classic games. Personally, I plan on including the option in my fangames, to have full 320 HD MP3 audio heaven, or MIDIs playing.
  15. Hmm. Do you get an error message on the crash? I too am using SDASH+ in GM8, and have no problem with the room changes.
  16. I forbid you to change those Caterkillers. They are perfect.
  17. I read the tl;dr version. ;D Some fans must have got those statues. And you did get Sonic Boom. Fair is fair. Besides, there's plenty of time til release, maybe you'll get your own Collector's Edition. Also, I love Hipster Dash. Stolen. :3
  18. Hey. The US got Sonic Boom, and cool statues. So we get an awesome Collector's Edition. It's fair. :3
  19. http://blogs.sega.com/2011/09/07/celebrate-sonic%E2%80%99s-20th-anniversary-with-the-sonic-generations-collector%E2%80%99s-edition/ Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes
  20. Everyone's so hostile this week. :< Tails, the game loads up and runs fine for me, but the Homing Attack is completely borked. I didn't even get one successful attack in. Attacking when the enemy is to your right leaves you stuck in an attack frame, so you need to fix up the "destruct" part of your enemy object. Attacking when the enemy is on the left completely wrecks your ass; sending you flying off to the top of the screen. Now, my Homing Attack is broken, but not this bad. ;D So, current advice; fix the homing attack. :3
  21. No nononono, you missed my point entirely. XD Don't enlarge things. Unless you're going the route of P3DR0's example - bathing it in effects filters and blurring the edges, it's gonna look terrible. It's not about what program you use, it's just the simple premise; small into big is bad.
  22. The one in color is as big as I could find it, not resized at all. The monocream one is about 1.8x resized. OK. So you didn't blow it up as big as I did. Did you get my point? It's an example bro, I exaggerated to show you the full effect. You get it, right?
  23. TailsSena, just cause you don't wanna hear it, doesn't make it bad advice. Lookit: Here, I took a small image of Sonic and made it 4 times larger. The result, as you can see, is fugly. I then took a higher resolution version of the same image, and made it 4 times smaller. It's not perfect, but it obviously looks much better than sizing up. Now, this is just a quick and dirty example in Paint, using Photoshop you'll have a lot more options when it comes to smoothing rough edges and such. But even at the fundamental level, you shouldn't really be resizing art up - it never looks good. If you absolutely must use that rather than making some original art, you'd be better off finding a hi res image and sizing it down to what you need. All of that official Sonic character art comes at a very high resolution, if you look hard enough. ;D
