  1. I really think either than maybe the muzzle and similarities in her body shape she doesn't look much like Sonic. It just seems like nit-picking.
  2. I think her design is fine how it is. You just basically suggested changing the entire character when she's fine, she looks nothing like Sonic. She looks like Lilac.
  3. I don't think it's the fragments it's probably the block as a whole if you stand on it too long the water jets it to the ceiling crushing you.

  5. My pants have just exploded. Some pure Genesis-esque-ness going on there. I'm not to fond of the snow however looks too ... blocky at the bottom. And the shadow seems more obstrusiv j ust being a black barrier. I don't really like Nack either, his hat isn't a very nice colour and nor is he, he's too pink.
  6. It's just the layout of your background is nigh on exactly the same as mine. For example I wanted to avoid anything I'd seen previous and decided to use Launch Base leaves and Aquatic Ruins leaves which I hadn't seen used this way before. Definitely not the Launch Base leaves. Yet they're used in exactly the same context as yours. I know you didn't copy me but I'm just saying the layout of it looks EXTREMELY similar to mine. Seems all of my zones and level tiles/designs have wound up directly or indirectly in your works some how. I don't really want to reopen this debate, I probably shouldn't have even posted.
  7. Wow. Those designs are fantastic! So many people go for gritty, edgier designs these days and keep the characters so similar. It's nice to see such a cartoony, jokey take on things. The subtle change to Sonics shoes and Tails gloves are surprisingly really fresh. While Sonic and Tails both look pretty snazzy I think the "Dapper as fuck award 2012" has to go to Robotnik for his moustache alone/ I actually cannot wait for this, hoping you have some presentable screenshots soon:)

  9. Sparks, I was going for something along those lines to have a comment like that without prompting is nice Think Metroid/Megaman styled retro platformer. Should have some new screenies soon.
  10. Totally agreeing with Overbound. Like this, they could probably do with one or two less colours but I tihnk they're okay. Didn't bother seperating cause I'm lazy ha.
  11. Fang/Nack is on the border line between obscure and used. I've seen him in a couple of games but not nearly the requisite amount needed for me personally to count him as "well used/known". He's an edgy cunning mastertheif in some portrayals and a clumsy dumbwit in some. Either way there's something that comepls me towards him.
  12. Marine Arena does sound better. The names too long-winded and it's disjointed in the way that the first part is a lot longer than the latter part. Aquatic Arena, Submerged Stadium, Splash Stadium etc. It's probably fine actually but idk. I totally dig the icy looking blocks but the colour on the Labyrinth blocks don't work imo. The bright greens against bluey-grey metal doesn't sit with me. I guess that kind of bright green colour is hard to put with colours that work. I'm totally with strife on trying to cusotm them up a bit with anchors, lifesavers and relevant icons etc.
  13. I really wouldn't mind a darker, edgier Sonic game storyline. But as Shadow the Hedgehog and this have prooved, it's just out of place in the Sonic the Hedgehog world. Mephiles kinda looked cool I guess, but the whole time-travelling, nihiistic, manipulative, shadow creature thing didn't really do it for me. Sonic's just inbedded in my memories as a happy colourful game with little story, and the story that it did have was simple and relatively light-hearted. It was 100% about gameplay back then. I felt like they spent a lot of time trying to work out an "epic", "edgy", "dark" plot but in the end it came out long-winded, confusing and out of place for a Sonic game.

  17. Oh man, I haven't seen anything that makes me want to get back into game making as much as that for a long time. I swear Strife your use of colours and shades is impeccable, such a simplistic background that still conveys the image of a cave and with a tonne of depth too. One minor piece of criticsm I might like to add is that the crystals and the rocky part in the floor tiles look superb but I'm having trouble understanding how it goes from the crystals to the rock. If it's like the crystals are the floor and the rock is just sort of like covering them then I think the top of the rock and the bottom of the crystals needs to be a clearer segregation. If it's just all one piece then it's fine, I guess I'm just having trouble working out what it is. Infact it's fine I'm just rambling on aha. The blues and the greens work really well together it definitely looks like the base for some interesting terrain:)
  18. I guess "all" was the wrong choice of words, there was an overwhelming amount of fanboys for it. I guess the only reason I associate it so strongly with fangame is because it was the first fangame I ever saw. Eh, I guess I shouldn't have made such a sweeping statement when I'm not really part of the sonic fangaming community anyway. I'm glad I'm a PS3 bitch ;D

I guess after frequent disputes from the team, questionable program specs from LOst & 4 years to get a 2 minute demo of a zone they said they'd completed 2 years prior, I really should've just given up on Sonic 2 HD. Over the years it practically became something we instantly think of as one of the defining parts of fangaming, rarely can I go to a sonic fangame oriented site without it being mention (I think here is one of the first). After a cheap trailer and four years an alpha is finially released. Albeit about 2 minutes of gameplay and a level that was already finished but hey, what could go wrong...? Keylogger doesn't necessarily imply that the software is malicious but since it wasn't mentioned anywhere, I assume its motives are questionable. Better to be safe than sorry until LOst or other members of the Sonic 2 HD team explain. (Overbound/Whoever: If there already is a topic and I'm being a spaz & missed it just lock and delete this topic, throw me a pm though just so I know:) )
  20. Seeing as you have a much more capable engine I'd like to see if you could implement some new gimmicks. One cool thing would be tiles of the sphere missing and when you fall down through the sphere you come out the other side. Or speed up/slow down balls which sonic's speed effectively.
  21. The tree's palette is too warm & imo the snow is too sloppy on it.
