  1. Hello all, I wanted to know what would be the best method to creating a stage where the ground can loop indefinitely so it can give the impression that the player is chasing the boss. I've seen games like Time Twisted and Game Land use chasing-type bosses, and I was wondering how they accomplished such a feature. I think I've seen a topic here a while ago asking the same question if I remember correctly... But I don't remember there being an actual answer to the question. Any help would be great, from MMF2, Construct, and Game Maker users alike. However I use Game Maker 8 for developing Edge of Darkness, if that helps anyone.
  2. I hope we have more levels as well, Delta and I keep entering periods of time where we don't get any work done lol. And he doesn't come here often anymore, he's been busy this whole school year lately. But no worries, he's working on updating some of the tilesets and parallaxes for future stages. Stay tuned! It's honestly the way the spikes have been drawn lol Hopefully in the future I'll remember to make the spikes look more precise.
  3. Progress on Shimmering Shores Act 2 has resumed, and to me, I think it has way better level design than the Acts present in the SAGE demo, with more routes and little secrets. It's a shame I couldn't complete it in time for SAGE. Anywho, here are some screens: Thoughts?
  4. Yeah now that you mention it I changed it a little:
  5. Alright so started working on porting the water mechanic system from the old STT engine and got this: Yes? No? Maybe?
  6. That'd actually be pretty cool =) Not sure what can be sketched though to represent this game haha. You might want to ask Delta.
  7. Thanks man! We could use someone in the future for making a cool trailer for us haha. As you can see from the trailer I'm not a huge video editing professional. xD
  8. Yeah we've come a long way since Delta's first conception of the game, and eventually his first mockups. For once, we're having something playable, and it's got him and I hyped.
  9. I think favoriting/bookmarking would have been better than bumping a six year old thread
  10. Alright so recently a composer, who goes by "General Offensive", contacted me and said that he would like to create some tracks for the project. He created a 1 minute demo of the first act of Shimmering Shores and I would like for you guys to listen in on it and give your thoughts: https://soundcloud.com/alexlp2k10/sc-act-1-wip/s-EABh0 Initially we set out for a new composer since we haven't heard from StereoPixel in a few months.
  11. Someone on Retro had similar suggestions, so I removed the tile on the back of the pipe: Any better? And don't worry the color scheme of the pipe will be changed soon, since right now it's just a placeholder.
  12. .... AND bump. Thanks for the comments P3DR0. ^^ So recently I've started to work on Act 2 for Shimmering Shores Zone. I've also tried adding a pipe system to Act 2 to act as some sort of gimmick to compliment the water features in this act. Any suggestions on the pipe? I know for a fact someone will say it's really out of place.
  13. In other news I tried to extend Corrupted Canyon's length a bit for the sake of the demo length being too short. I'm really close to finishing now all there is to add left is one cutscene and a credits roll. ^^
  14. Seems like you got a really good sense of what you want to do with the story, judging by how much you just typed in that post there.. However, I think you should try showing off gameplay from your game first, but that's just me.
  15. My main issues with Apple's products is that they charge so much for such a locked up phone with no freedom compared to other products on the market such as the Android OS. They're simply rereleasing the same tech each year with minute changes. I think I'll just stick with my Lumia 920.
  16. Yeah I've done lots of bug testing, I usually run into a new glitch almost everyday. Things are almost fixed though. ^^
  17. Delta and I haven't really discussed that yet so we don't know, and it also depends if there's a sprite sheet that we can use for her gameplay.
  18. Screens look good Alex! If you need help crafting levels with real level graphics I could help by showing you how to use tiles effectively. Perhaps I could also help with any coding problems you may have too.
  19. I come to this thread to see Alex's progress, but all I see is a debate that started because of the game title. lol What I would like for there to be discussion about is the game itself. No, not the title or the story or any of that junk, I want to know what the game looks like in motion and how it looks visually. I think you should take it down a notch Lange, you're taking it a bit too far. I mean, I know the title is what gives the game some identity, but we shouldn't really obsess over a title of a game which isn't even far enough into development to consider things like that. Heck, we shouldn't be "obsessing" over anything that's nothing but a hobby. I'm pretty sure Alex isn't aiming for this project to be some kind of professional IP. We don't know enough about the game yet to start nitpicking small things like a title. And before you retort, yes at this point in making a game, titles are commonly placeholders and not final. Alex has to worry about his game engine and gameplay designs first.. Questioning about peoples' existence on the forum because they don't think of fangames as some professional product just comes off as a bit weird to me. This forum isn't supposed to be super serious all the time with projects, assuming you've looked at threads from a while back. In short, let Alex do whatever he wants. It's his game, not yours. And remember this: he can't please everybody. Don't take anything of what I just said personally, Lange. I just wanted to let you know we're not all super serious all the time here, especially with the minor stuff. =)
  20. Okay to be honest I think you're starting to take this a little too seriously when it's just a game title for a project that hasn't really surfaced publicly yet. Let Alex work on his game and concepts first, then he will discover what to name his game in the process. Alright guys let's stop bickering about the name of the game, yes? It's not as important as the game engine itself and its concepts/gameplay design.
  21. Well all I can say is good luck handling that "dump" you were referring to for your academics. I suppose I could tell you were a freshman because of your excessive, long posts lol Back on topic, That's too bad. :\ What do you have in mind for this indie project luks? It'd be great to get an idea of what you plan to do. And for me I plan to be at SAGE this year. Delta and I will be presenting one act each of Shimmering Shores and Corrupted Canyon Zone. I hope you guys enjoy what's to come. =)
  22. I'm suppose you're an incoming freshman?
  23. Thank you very much lol And yeah the music was Delta's choice. I did the video editing. (x
