Actually, my older bro and I where playing yesterday (my brother stopped playing sonic games after sonic and knuckles) and we couldn't stop laughing at the fact that we could literary walk around loops casually. Also, I found a glitch where you can stand on some spikes and you will never die because your rings will always bounce back to you.
  2. Actually your 4870 build is looks pretty good. You'll be able to play most (if not all) emulators plus it would be a nice budget gaming rig. 4870 is quite a powerful card it just doesn't support dx 11 but since your going for emulators go for it.
  3. I don't know if it's just me but I can't see you wish lists. Also, how much are you planning to spend?
  4. I used to play mugen and I think I may be able to help. Have you tried using the free program called Fighter factory ultimate. I believe that it can rip the mugen files into individual sprites.
  5. I second this, the demo is gorgeous and the physics are much better than sonic 4 (not perfect, but very damn close). Even though I appreciate this fan game's goal to redo old sonic levels I would love to see some original levels on this game engine. By the way, candescence have you tried running at a lower resolution or tuning the graphics quality down? P.s. I'm running it on the Alienware's at school so I can personally say at 1920 x 1080 the graphics look like a product of some mad scientist combining Crysis and Sonic. This game:
  6. @gear Looking really good gear, but are you going to add the floating rocks from the sonic 4 title screen. It looks cool right now but the water by itself looks kinda bland. But that's just me.

  8. As of today this site is no longer blocked from my school's proxy so I can participate more. As far as spooky sonic gimmicks, I agree with Strife that you must catch the player off guard by making something familiar different. An example of this could be making a badnick that's appearance is exactly the same as a checkpoint post except for a very small difference (something that allows the player to tell the difference, if they are very observent). Once the player approaches the "post" it transforms into a bat or some other sort of badnick that attacks the player. Another example (which I may or may not be implementing into my game =o) is once the player completes the stage and the fend of stage post begins to twirl, instead of sonic's head appearing, eggman's does. The floor immediately caves in beneath the player and sonic is pitched into complete darkness where he must defeat the boss in a very dim lit area. Edit: Example of first idea

  14. This is kinda random but I think sonic's jumping animation would be 10x better if it had that "blue aura" around him, like when he spins.
  15. I would hire the man responsible for this masterpiece. This man's game is not only receiving more positive views than sonic 4 by the sonic community, it is clearly superior as far as visuals and physics.
  16. Has anyone gotten the seventh emerald yet? Every time I try to get the seventh emerald and fail I feel like throwing my iPod touch against a brick wall and ripping the accelerometer out of it's shattered remains (man those stages are tough!).
  17. The saddest part is that since this game is getting such high reviews Sega is going to go and think they did a fantastic job and probably not change much in episode II. Which is a darn shame considering the sonic 4 series has serious potential with a bit of adjustment.
  18. This is what truly bothers me the most. If they fix this and the issue with gaining momentum while rolling I think episode II will be pretty bad ass.

  23. Ok guys, I have the ios version of Sth4 on my ipod touch 2nd gen. My thoughts? First the positive: The game is Fun. I think sega/sonic team/dimps created a whole new type of game here. It's not quite classic, but it's not sonic rush 3. It's a hybrid that is very fun and it WILL GIVE YOU NOSTALGIA. Hell, I was waiting for my school bus today playing and the Nostalgia rush you get from playing this for the first time literally gives you chills. The thrill of not knowing where a badnick will appear is something I haven't experienced in a VERY long time. Also, something for the ios versions only, this game is runs quite fast. Actually, I was running it on my ipod touch 2nd gen and I never experienced lag that slowed down gameplay (even during water segments in labyrinth). This is incredible considering sonic 2 lags all the time on my ipod. So I think it's one of the best iphone games around. The bad: This game is ten dollars. Did you hear that, $10 for an ipod game. Pretty steep even for people with money in their asses like myself. I don't think it's worth the $10 not because of the quality of the game (it is very fun), but because of the quantity of the game. I finished the game in about 2 hours and I was taking it slow. So...yeah wait for it to go down in price before considering buying it. Also, I know we've all played the classics a googleplex number of times so I will warn you guys ahead of time. You will notice the physics are off. Like it or lump it. In addition to the physics (let's get this over with quickly), speed pads are in dumb places that don't need them. Also, the mine cart level and the casino score attack level are here. They are the worst levels of the whole game. Period. These last two really killed the nostalgia rush I had to be honest. The verdict: Great game, could have been better. Expensive. Wait for price to go down. After playing this I think with a tiny bit of improvement on sega/sonic team/dimps team, as far as the engine and and level design go, I could be a tiny bit excited for episode II (something I didn't think was going to happen. Ps. This is my opinion so please don't crucify me if I don't agree %137 with you.
