Know your program first because jumping to an engine without knowing at least the basics is dumb. So you are using MMF2, did you check the "Chocolate Break" demo/tutorial?, it's pretty much how you will be using MMF2. Also, the program has a manual in its installation folder, a PDF file. Give it a read, it will give you a glance of the program's functions. Once you are familiar with everything, check Clickteam's tutorials or Nivrams MMF2 tutorials.

Except minor camera problems and the overpowered spindash, this is starting to look good. I like the hud too.

I've been re-watching the Dragon Valley beta footage (mainly because I like how fitting are the Dragon Seed songs with the stage itself), it got me thinking and now I have a suggestion: how about give to the stage some enviromental sound effects?. For example, is the first act is located in the top of a hill/mountain, right? (not sure if these are hills/mountains, correct if I'm wrong...), how about playing a wind SFX loop in the background? or in the second act, you are playing in some sort of river/lake near the bottom of the hills/mountains, it should play a stream SFX loop. Oh well, it's up to you Mr. Strife!.

No. I can forgive the gameplay and glitches, but the story...euugh.

You can use shaders and stuff. Since graphic processing is managed by the GPU instead of the CPU, FPS during runtime isn't affected. For example, if the program is rotating many active objects it doesn't get slowdowns.

I hope they keep improving the gameplay, they are nailing it. About introducing new characters, no, Sonic doesn't need more friends. They need to focus in the old ones instead of introducing new ones and making everything a complete mess. I wouldn't mind a dark setting for a story as long the humor is present and bestiality shit is not. Also, Knuckles needs to be relevant again. They can't leave such an awesome character in a corner.
