  1. The only way to kill him could be the head. However, maybe the player could destroy parts of his body, making the monster smaller, less mobile, and easier to hit.
  2. Is it wrong that I'm tempted to comment on everything on the list, before I've actually even read it, Just to make your day?
  3. Congrats man! Take the break lol, you deserve it. Edit, hahaha, that coment about the background is bull crap considering how they praised a few other games here because even though the graphics were...eh...Lackluster...they still fit together, which I didn't see myself XD
  4. LH I demand, that in your level, you include this: It wouldn't be complete without it.
  5. not downloading this large of a file, Considering this is Game maker compress the audio with audacity to .ogg format, after shortening the songs to quicker loops, and then play them using the supersound.dll. I cant believe 3 acts would ever amount to that size, be sure you dont pack it with music that wont be used in the demo. It looks decent from what I can see so far though. But no way Im waiting on downloading it at this point. edit oh page two: solution program cutscenes, don't ever through in video files, those shitters are massive.
  6. not bad at all, but the drums feel really weak, you pound drums, not this soft sound in the background. I'm not much of a music person but this seems off to me.
  7. This kid. He actually makes games, good ones, and way too many of them, why the hell aren't you doing this for a profit by this point? I don't ever see you ask for any help on them here much, though. I'll see to it to try this out later.
  8. Ah Jezus I forgot how awesome that attraction attack theme is. Its seems to have improved a bit since I last heard it, maybe its just the new headphones. The whole soundtrack just screams sonic, more then any original fan albums I've heard.
  9. I think the sprites look fine in that screen-shot there honestly. Personally I never like the level art for chaotix, it felt like it was awkwardly blurred or something. Honestly this looks better with those sprites to me, much clearer. Besides, it's his project, if he thinks they look good, then he can use em. Though tail's snout is pretty eehh, flat.
  10. GUYS, I bet you are excited for our 15 second TV spot. It's going to be as huge as 15 seconds can get! To get you excited for this nonsense, we are going to create more TV spots, advertising the TV spot. Get ready, Cuz you'll find out the game isn't coming out for another 2 weeks. This way, when the game comes out, you'll buy a copy just to burn it in frustration! Sadly I used to know people who would watch football...for the game trailers.
  11. I noticed that in the way the bells chimed, its just tricky to combo some of them. Nice to have it confirmed though. Also I can record, I just wont get any sound, suppose I could narrate over it instead or something though. I use camstudio and set the quality pretty low, which doesn't seem to affect this game much slightly more grainy looking but that's about it. Also I set the default FPS on my copy to 30FPS, which provides consistency.
  12. you could have an event that takes local variables and makes them global if you really find adding object to the list that time consuming. something as simple as "global.1xpos = Sonic.x; " (the 1 being placed so that it appears right at the top of the list) This way the game doesn't have to draw anything extra. Also converted my 3D engine for "The Virus" into a more mega man Legends like engine, (joystick moves player, player and camera rotate with the shoulder buttons/ along with a keyboard only, and keyboard + mouse configuration as well) Original static camera: http://i567.photobucket.com/albums/ss120/FanGameRevolver/screenies.jpg Now the current build brings the camera into the action, and is allowed to be much more dynamic in the hands of the player I also tweaked the jump to halt if the player releases the jump key, so you can make small jumps quickly.
  13. I use game maker which has a "Debug Mode" In this mode you can use windows to call up the value of any variable, and execute spinets of code from one of the windows. Yet I still see debug values in quite a few game maker betas, I really don't understand why. Obviously this is in MMF2 though right, which I've never used, so I have no idea if it has said function.
  14. anyone up for some score competition? Completed this run ending with 44,252 points, took about 40 minutes (every level completed in under 7minutes) on the newer build using Violet +fire, only one death on 3-1. Proof: This felt really easy on this second Violet run, really short and underwhelming I think what im trying to say is the replay value is pretty lacking.
  15. Funny I started playing as indigo, and I cant seem to get past the second boss, its just really difficult to hit him for a lot of damage, especially since many of his weapons have limited range. I had generally less trouble on that boss with violet+fire. The first boss was just the opposite though. Really hard time on him with violet, no trouble at all with indigo. Those last two missions are just diabolical btw :3 Still fun despite the insane challenges.
  16. Speaking of comparing versions. My god, I love the wii version. DS version is...well,...its not bad, I would agree with the argument that the DS version forces wisp use more often, and has better bosses. Course, that's not what makes a sonic game is it? The Wii version felt very reminiscent of S3&K to me personally. Huge zones and constantly searching for that new path to a Giant ring. The rings were far more rewarding to collect in the wii version, as you normally had to do something pretty cool to snag most of them, Unlike the DS version which was more or less searching every path of the level, each path being roughly the same Dimps formula. I don't know why there are all the complaints on asteroid coaster though, I never struggled with this zone, though planet wisp and aquatic park hit me pretty hard. I actually found asteroid coaster to be the easiest considering collecting red rings and getting high ranks . Meanwhile I spent a couple days just trying to get all the rings in one of the aquatic park acts. Also I discovered while trying to get one of the rings, that if you mash all the buttons on a gamecube control at once in furious rage, your Wii resests, making things worse.
  17. I played strife's game, though I must say the difficulty curve is very...eh...steep. At the same time I find myself shouting victory cries alot here XD. This is really fun, I really appreciate the game. Now if I can only beat level 3-3 >:U ...Dat boss... I really haven't noticed anything about this game I've had an issue with the artwork is fantastic, the powerups are fun to experiment with. I did have an issue with the health system, it seems to take so long to heal, but I did get used to it. And the second character is different enough to warrant me playing through the levels a second time. Very cool. edit - beat it, that final boss was awesome. though, next to impossible, the way a final boss should be
  18. I doodle shit out on paper. Sit down on my computer. Make something completely different then what I wrote down. Think of ideas on how to build onto what I made so far. Forget about those ideas. Get bored. Play a video game. Try to figure out how it works. Repeat.
  19. ha...that's an awesomely ironic find right there DW. Sega's so...predictable?...or do we really have a spy?... ... >_>
  20. Ha! that looks awesome! You could always make the level glow to give off a warm burning feeling. Instead of fully animated layers. In one of my sonic projects I had this fire level, where the level would glow like that, and it was great at setting the scene. ex. It faded between these two pallets slowly throughout the level.
  21. When a daddy sprite and a mommy sprite want a baby sprite, they go "underneath the covers". lmao couldn't help myself.
  22. But this way the community can see the sprites and comment on them as well
  23. Finished(?) Tile set. Free to use as long as you give credit to me. I don't really care what you do with it, if you want to expand and edit them to have loops or whatever go ahead. Still not sure what I even want to use it for. I know it's not perfect, but I think its pretty good. Example of Tile set in use:
  24. I happen to have the same controller you appear to have. But hey, its a controller.
  25. you get a super sonic level for getting all the emeralds...however this boss pales in comparison to the eggman battle. and the 3D effects just make it look and play like a mess.
