  1. Hey i was wondering how i would go about making a slipppery surface movement o sonic starts off with less acceleration then slides for abit when the user let go of the controls but if the usere preses the opposite way then sonic skids a bit longer than usual, any help would be apreciated

  4. lol, no, the idea for this stuff was back in college where we had to set up a fake business, so our group was on about making little games but we had no time to be original our group was called team Jaga and our games were going to be Jario and Squeegy, Kronic and Snails, Goulbusters, Inspector Gizmo and so on.. anyhow a little useless info there lol

  6. yeah one of my mates here suggested the purple with orange clothes, i'm just finihing off my Kronic model then it's on to the amy one, oh also can anyone think of a parody name for amy if u don't mind because it' not as easy as i thought, i mean instead of sonic i have kronic, tails = snails, Dr robotnik = Dr roboto, unless i just change the name compleatly i can't really think of anything :S anyways thanks for any imput once i get get a bit more done on my project, i'll set up a thread in the genral fan game board
  7. Hey, sorry for bringing this old topic back to life, but now that i have abit of free time i've decided to get back to work on my 'parody' game.   11. Hey, if you pres ctrl + k the layers will be sshown on the right of the screen, then select a layer above the layer sonic is on (i think he's on layer 2) and add trees and what not and they should be in front of sonic, hope this helps

  13. hey if anyone is intrested i'm nearly done doing a few fixes in the engine such as using variables instead of counters/timers, deactivating events when not needed etc.. i've also fixed the door thing so it doesn't keep moving when in rang and also just shortened the range of the magnetic shield. Also added blue emeralds combo and flicky stuff and just need to put in azu's special stage and ring fix to try and keep it up to date
  14. I didn't actually do the running on the ceiling event and it wasn't in the build i gave Real, it was added afterwards but when i do the 'tweeking' i will label the event i put in if this helps
  15. @ Blue Emerald, if you import the roof running everything still works so i don't know why those problems occured. Anyhow maybe next week or the week after i'll try and fix things that people have suggested like using variables instead of counters and disabling events when there not needed etc, i'm just a bit busy with other things at the mo
  16. i don't know if anyone saw the post i put up a few week ago with a link to the engine i gave Real, the slides work normally (no bounce) and you don't get stuck under water, however it hasn't go the running on a ceiling or Azu' bonus level

  18. ah i understand, when i have ago at doing knuckles i'l revisit the code and see what i can do to optamize. Oh does anybody else seem to have this problem; when sonic is on the water slides he starts bouncing, also you have to press jump about 3 times to get him off the ground, it might just be me but in the file I gave Real everything seemed fine, i've done a little vid to show what i mean http://s219.photobucket.com/albums/cc291/Appoy3k/?action=view&current=Movie.flv i know you can't tell in the first part, but when i'm under water i keep pressing jump but it only works a few times
  19. lol thanks, yeah i'm not gonna lie here i'm more of a 3d artist and animator rather than a programmer so the code won't be as optimized as it could be, i only manage pretty simple programming (as you could probably tell) the only reason i know how to do some code is because i've worked with click team products for about 11 years now, i think i started with klick 'n' play and just looked and took apart a lot of example files to see how they work, so yeah most of the code i didwon't be brilliant but it seems to work oh yeah as for peformance, i managed to run this build at 59 fps on my crap laptop which is 1.2GHz (celeron M) 256 of RAM and Intel inbuilt graphics, but if you put it in full screen the frame rate will drop to the 40's, 30's or 20's. however i can run this build on my PC full screen or windowed and the fps doesn't change. Also i would like to thank everyone for the help and contributions they made, cheers guys. anyhow back to the topic i know that a few people have been asking for knuckles to be put in, if nobody is already halfway with doing this and if nobody minds, i'll see what i can do
  20. Thanks, i've managed to do the pushing thing without enabeling that option, i've given the engine to Real0505 to have a check through and see if it's ok

Hey i've just finished the pushing stuff, but in order for the block not to fall through the floor when it's out of sight i've had to enable "handle background collisions" in the frame properties. I've noticed while having this enabled that some of the backgrounds (mainly walls) can have no "white space" in the animation editor thing, otherwise you get an invisable wall effect (sonic collieds with the wastedspace) i'll put up a print screen of what i mean. The main reason i posted though was to ask if enabeling "handle background collisions will effect anything else like slopes and loops?? it doesen't seem to but i wanted to ask to see if anybody knew, plus i don't want to start editing the backgrounf pieces if it does

Cheers guys, i'll see what i can do, then it's just the camera and a bit of cleaning up Edit: i've been trying to do the cannons but it's not happening, so unless someone can make a quick example file for me to have a gander at i'll happily try to implament it but if not i might have to leave it out

I'm sure i'm thinking of the right thing but i can't seem to find a sprite for it :S anyways heres a crappy diagram i did in paint hope this helps to explain it As for the camera yes i do have that virsion with it in, i'm just trying to get it to scroll to it's destination rather than snap there (for the boss)
  24. lol, ok... before i hand it over i would like to put two more things in, the first is the camera for the boss/end of level making the camera stop at the end of a level when you hit the signpost, or if it's a boss the camera should scroll to the center of the area and stop where the bosss fight will take place. As for the cannons say you jump in to one and it keeps rotating back and forth and you want to be fired out when it reaches a 45 degree angle, how would i get that angle and apply it to sonic, dunno if this is any clearer

Well super sonic was already in there, i just want to make sure that any events i put in work with the other skins, ok time for me to ask for a bit of help, the first is the camera for like the end of a level or boss and the second is the cannon things like on carnival night (to be more specific i just like to know how to get the angle of the cannon and make sure sonic fires in the right direction) then thats it all that will be done after that is to clean it up (put things in folders etc..) then hand it over
