  1. ^There are two second rows,and not of them are on the far left,so I'm not sure which lol. @Alex: Only Chaos is hosted on Imgur,the others are directly from DA. I assume you've already seen them by now,but if you're still having problems,I can rehost them somewhere else. --------------- Anwyay,never did finish that Chaos,posting mainly in response to Alex,but I'm also working on something big,and my avy should be a good enough sneak peek.
  2. Tikal's quill seems fine to me,but I think I see your point,I'll see what if I can tweak it a little. Also,I've made some progress on Chaos,but not enough to post it already,will repost when finished. @Infinity: I'm not taking requests at all (though maybe I should..),but I already made what you're asking for: ^This one was made as soon as the redesign was unvelied,but I did mix it a bit with her previous design. ^This one is an improved version from a few months back. Both include made up classic versions btw,the concept of those should be obvious enough.
  3. Since I'm the resident go to ModGen guy that everyone keep PMing all the time,I figured I should post some of *my* sprites here,might help fill the gap left by MFZ. I'm the guy who made the original Sonic/Tails sprites that were edited for ATS,among other things.Nowadays,I've switched up my style a little,so it differs a bit from the actual ModGen projetcs. Here's my most recent STH work,from yesterday even,still fresh. Haven't sprited sanics in a while,so I've cooked this up from scratch,been wanting to sprite her for a while now. I'm pretty enamored with this sprite right now,lol. Can't have Order without Chaos. Still a wip,but is it watery enough so far? ---------- If this thread gets interest,I'll do a post dump with previously sprited characters and sheets,might help so people won't need to PM me about them.
  4. @Libi: You mean this? It's really old,prolly 2010 or 09,I think. I lost that sheet,but I should probally revamp what's left of it and make a full Mighty sheet sometime. And I figured so about the sprite borrowing from mine,but you only mentioned the shoes for some reason lol I can help you with that,just ask if you want. @Alex: I think tutorials are redundant,and it's not like I'm good at explaining things. The way I make sanics nowadays is a bit different from the main modgen projects in a few things,but I don't think i should be hard to replicate at all. I..could give you tips I guess,but not here,it's indeed irrelevant to the topic. @Potatobadger: On the TSR forums,there's an gif making app made by a member called Previous.It's free and easy to use,I suggest you dig that up. I think the animation itself looks a bit odd,as if the feet are moving too little between frames,but that might look better ingame and with the correct speed,so..
  5. ^ Except I don't have a Mighty sheet,just a sprite: Never sheeted him,because if I were to do so,I'd give him only unique poses,rather than making him Sonic in a wig. Perigi did have some good progress on his sheet,but I never heard of him since MFZ went boom. _________ And Libi,that's a cool sprite btw. If you want crit,the quills could use better shading,using more of the darker blue shade,and the highlighting on the middle quill seems kind of random. Apart from other nitpicks I have,it's actually kinda cool,and would good with some tweaks,shouldn't be hard to sheet,so I'd like to see you sheet that. ..I see much more in it than just my shoes though : p

  7. I've been playing with this a bit yesterday.There were things I loved,and things I despised. The presentation for starters,is very nice and well made,and the whole game have a charismatic feeling.The gameplay is very nice aswell,and while all characters have similiar gameplay,the small differences there are are actually cool. For the things I dislike though,I personally think the fancharacters look terrible,not just because they're fancharacters,but vecause their design is boring,generic,and unnapealing.I find Vermin in particular downright cringeworthy,specially his character select artwork,which while is drawn and shaded pretty damn well,his design that I already dislike,combined with the extremely silly "super radical awesome" pose that reminds me back of the worst from the early SA artwork,made me literally cringe,HARD. I'm not trying to get into a "fancharacters are bad" type argument,what I'm saying is that this game's particular fancharcters are poorly designed. Aside from that,the level design is great at times,and extremely frustating at others.Apart fro the thing Lange mentioned,there's also the fact that the level design encourages you to use the boost,but also punishes you severely for doing so,with several dick placed chainsaws and pits.There's also the ramps,I beleive it's actually a glitch or unintentional,but on many of the ramps that come before bottomless pits,somitimes I can't get past them either because I'm boosting,which sends me too far from where I'm supposed to land,or because I wasn't boosting and wasn't fast enough to even cross the pit at all. There's also the places where you must react REAL quickly,like the part on Radical Highway,after a checkpoint there's a ramp that sends you to an helicopter,but you gotta H.A. it or else you'll fall to your death.I honestly don't think a person would even be able to react so quickly on their first playthrough,without dying there first to get aware of it. I also think the keyboard controls are all over the place.You mainly use ASD,which is fine,but then there's the X button for sliding,which is awkward,and the upper QWE mixed with ASD for the Q.T.E's which I can actually react quickly and press them,but feels really odd when they appear on the qtes,as you realy don't use those buttons anywhere else on the game,so they come outta nowhere if you know what I'm saying. Using backspace to go back between menus is annoying too. Granted,I love many things about the game,but there are many frustrating things about it too.I'm going to play it some more right now and give a deeper playthrough.
  8. Interesting idea for the Mecha Sonic. About Metal looking out of place,here are my old Metal sprites. Small outdated sheet,but feel free to expand on them if you wish. Btw,the Mighty sprites you're using are just as out of place as the Metal ones,imo. Also,please credit ME when using my work,not the ModGen team.
  9. What exactly do you mean by "redesigning the characters to look E10+"? Also,I know I barely ever post here on SFGHQ,and when I do,I'm usually kind of a dick,but I think I at least usually have a point. And my point this time is,don't even bother with the kickstart,it'll be a waste of time. I honestly don't even know why you already need money in the first place,as you barely even got anything complete on your own.All I see is art,and sprites,some commissioned,even.But there's no gameplay footage or anything of the like,so I don't see why people would lend money on a supposed game project that's only got a few artwork backing it up as of now. Besides,if you got the money,what would you do with it?Commision more art? You need to set your priorities straight.There are many successful indie games made with little or no budget at all,and this very forum is full of examples.Successful kickstarters like FP already had fully playable demos and a good reputation before asking for money. You only got (commissioned) artwork,and a bit of info.I don't think people will throw money at you just because you got a cute little character.
  10. Super's "walking" animations is lazy,I presume you'll add more frames?Even then,the concept seems awkward. The transformation seems ok,though I did make one btw.
  11. I didn't read any of the posts,so i don't know if it's been reported,but there's a game breaking glitch here. If by the end of the previous zone's boss,you're stuck floating in the arena's pits,Sonic stays unplayable for this zone.He stays in his idle animation,and you can only move him left and right,but can't jump or do anything else. I tried drowning myself and the glitch still stayed.
  12. ... Dude,don't even worry about the OST yet,you barely have anything done for the game at all as of yet. And stop trying to be like Lake FFS,remember that BTS only recieved it's actual OST much AFTER the game was already done.The Beyonce remix was funny,but wasn't bad at all.Just do your thing,and stop trying to be like Lake.

  14. I'm also sick of the Sonic only shit.It was fair in Unleashed,and understandable for Generations,even if they could have thrown in additinal characters,it was an anniversary game after all.. But it just seems silly that they're still rolling with that,this game could benefit greatly from more playable chracters. My guess is that not only is Sega still afraid of "Sonic's shitty friends" kind of crit,but more playable characters would also count as an innovation,which there are already plenty in this game,so I guess they're trying one thing at a time,so they won't screw up.
  15. It's not really that it spoils the game that truly bothers me,it's just that I find this topic fucking annoying,I was just trying to sound nice. Nobody is forcing me to read it,but it exists,it's here,and it's public,I click because I want to,but it's public,so don't throw that childish reasoning,my crit/suggestion was fair and legit. If Skype is a problem,I suggest making a basic private board,that way you guys'll get in touch easier,and in a more organized way,and most importantly,you won't be cluttering here.

There are 10 pages on this topic,and the big majority of the posts are on and back conversations between the project's group members.Either that,or double posts by the same people I just mentioned. The actual progress,which is small beyond concepts,are cool and all,but I can't help but feel like this topic is a huge clusterfuck in all honesty. Not to minimod or anything,but why don't you guys just get together,work on your concepts,chat about life or whatever it was you were doing,and then come back to this topic when there are actual REAL updates,that are WORTHY of being posted? Not only would that make this topic less off a clusterfuck,but it'd also make this project less of a joke.Not only it's already a huge BTS/ATS ripoff,but also every single little concept you come up with,you just post here in public,so when (if) the game ever comes out,you would have already shown the whole damn thing in paper already. I'd go on further,but my keyboard is being a bitch.

Where the hell are you guys getting the idea that Nintendo is making the game?I's being made FOR Nintendo,not by them..at least it's gone from the thread's subtitle *sigh* I always wondered how Sonic would work in a more Nintendo like direction though,seems like this is the answer. The 3DS version looks like it'll suck less than Generations 3DS did,also female Caterkiller?

Mrpoe,this is the post your SCREENSHOT thread,not the brainstorming one.Besides,if you want people to reply in your thread,why even post here? @Lake: The artwork is good,I like the coloring and how it ressembles the sprite. But people asked a while ago,dunno if you answered,but is there any in story reason why he looks so much like Sonic? If not,I think you coulda went for something more original..

Spoiling the fact Knuckles isn't in is one thing,but spoiling Mighty kinda sucks,it was so awesome to me when he showed up outta nowhere on that stage : p And to whoever said they wonder how Knuckles was tricked,read the japanese manuals,everything you need to know about the classic stories is there.
  21. It's still Sonic but they're different designs.Saying fuck you to the tradition/consistency and using Modern Sonic on a "classic era" game is one thing,switching back and forth between designs is another.
  22. Those lack contrast,I suggest either using the palettes from the Sonic sprite being used,or another Genesis sprite with smiliar colors. Edit: Jassbec,if you're gonna use Modern Sonic,that's up to you,but you should at least be consistent about it,the player sprites are Modern,but the other graphics so far seem to use the classic design.They might be placeholders though,so just a heads up.
  23. Jassbec,I'm not really feeling your backstory at all,but about Scrap Skies,you could be more clever about it and call it "Sky Brain",this way,it's only "Scrap Brain" after it's.."scrapped",giddit? Not to mention Sky Brain sounds cooler and is easier to relate to Scrap Brain.

  25. Oh hell yeah! A Metroidvania (or Metronic,heh) Sonic game always been my the Sonic game of my dreams,this cutscene gives me a Zelda-ish vibe too and that's a great plus. I don't have fangaming knowledge,so I could'n try to do it myself,so thanks for for fulfilling this dream <3 Matterfact,I've been working on something based on my concept,and it may be useful for you. http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Shinbs/MGT/0civillianpresent1.png They're unusual animals in Sonic style,that I'd use for generic civilians ala Zelda species.They're all wip,but they're varied and might be useful,so if it intrerests you,just ask me,and I'll finish/make any animal you might want. It seems you're only using birds so far,I could help with that too.
