A Forgotten Sonic Fan Game: Sonic Firestorm

A number of Sonic fan games from the 2000’s have been lost with time. Today, we are taking a look back at a rather forgotten Sonic fan game; Sonic Firestorm.

The game starts with a cutscene before heading into the first zone; Crimson Coast.

Sonic Firestorm is a cancelled Sonic fan game developed by VexusVersion from 2008. Reasons for its cancellation are unknown. Sonic Firestorm is a Sonic Advance styled fan game featuring Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy as playable characters with a full zone, including a boss fight.

Sonic Firestorm‘s level design is closer to the first Sonic Advance with features from the later Sonic Advance titles, such as the boost most. Sonic Firestorm also brings back the jump pads from Sonic Adventure. Sonic Firestorm takes the best elements from each Sonic Advance title and wraps them up into one polished package.

I highly recommend playing Sonic Firestorm. To this day the fan game still holds up and hasn’t aged. The graphics and physics are as polished today as they were when the fan game was released.
