Ayling's Music

Hey guys, it's been a long while since I've posted here, but I wanted to show and hopefully get some criticism on my work.

In the time that I haven't been here, I've been honing my music skills. I'm going to college next year, studying to be a Music teacher, and I've been practicing lots of French Horn. I wanted to show you something I'm working on for the past couple of days, an arrangement of all the music in Sonic 1. It's obviously still a major Work In Progress, but I thought you'd appreciate that. For those of you who care, the instrumentation is as follows:

Trumpet

Trumpet

Horn

Trombone

Tuba

Everything you hear in this is only 5 parts. I intended for one on a part with this. I know each part is playable because I can play all of these instruments and I know what their capabilities are. If you guys want to see the score and/or non-sonic related compositions I've worked on comment and I'll start another topic.

Without further adieu:

Enjoy :)

I'm just gonna kinda bump this with two things I came up with tonight, wondering if I could get criticism. I know there are a few notes that aren't quite right.

Saria's Song

Poker Face

I plan on redoing some of the solo in this. Maybe adding a real bass line to it.

Thanks for listening!

do you record to a click track? there are a lot of timing issues with the playing.

make sure you tune up your guitar before recording and before you improvise a solo, make sure you're confident with the key.

volume levels need a lot of work, I could barely hear any of the drums and the lead guitar was way too loud. best thing to do is zero everything and raise the levels of the instruments in order of importance (for me I usually start with the snare, then the kick, hats, toms and crashes; then go to the bass, then lead, then rhythm guitar/synth)

your bends are actually very good though! keep on practicing :D

Ristar:

I do tune up and I swear to God I can play everything and then I hit the record button and all hell breaks loose with notes/rhythm. However, I will work on the volume levels, not something I was really thinking about.

I have the ear to pull off bends so I'm good there :D
