USC
Is there anything odd in the non-working MP3 compared to the one that does (IE : The non-working one has spaces in the title, special characters, etc)? I doubt that's a problem, but sometimes programs can be picky, so try renaming it. Or perhaps the one that doesn't work is somehow corrupted. Load it into an audio program (Audacity is a good one if you don't have any) and create a new copy of it. See if that works.

Damizean
Convert the MP3 to Ogg, using one of those simple drag & drop tools like OggDrop. (google for it). In terms of quality/compression (Ogg Vorbis, an audio codec for Ogg) it's similar or even outstands the MP3, and it's natively supported by MMF2, so it should give you better results (and the ability of having the songs inside the exe).
