  1. The middle of the song! It's... it's making me... I think I'm gonna... AAARRGGHH... change the lyrics! This'll spoil Portal 2 right here... and what little dignity I had left. *Goes and sits in the corner*
  2. Playing the PS3 version of this demo. If you leave Sonic still for a number of minutes, he sloooowwwlllyyy slides to the left while lying down. I noticed this as I was waiting to see if he'd jump off the screen Sonic CD style, but after ten minutes, er, no, he was still lying there, but to the left of where he originally started. Maybe he slowly slides off the screen instead of jumping. Another fun bug I noticed at the start of my first go, stand still, jump, hold down while in the air and Sonic will crouch facing you when he lands, you can even spin dash towards the screen, though he doesn't go anywhere doing this. Another bug I came across was when going though the wooden bridge area, I spindashed round the loop, and on the way round the mountain, Sonic went round the back of it too fast and, er, went for a swim? Reminds me of Sonic Adventure's glitchy whale chase, but without the whale. I have noticed more, but I understand bugs like these are probably a part of why this demo is for a limited time only, so it will be interesting to see how many of them make it into the final game. Heck, I'm not even good at finding bugs. The demo is fun, control still doesn't feel like classic Sonic, but that doesn't dampen my enjoyment, although the odd feel of Sonic's movement can be tricky when trying to do precise movements and jumps (I want you to jump now Sonic, not in half an hour's time!). The level is very replayable, with my fastest time just under 55 seconds (I'm sure the rest of you can smash any best time I can do). And I like the music more hearing it properly through my sound system and headphones, now whether it can change my opinion of the other crappy sounding remixes (modern Sonic's Green Hill and classic Sonic's City Escape) may be another matter, as this one doesn't sound overly different from the original Green Hill tune besides the extra funky beats in it. I will be VERY happy if they manage to keep it to just this and day-time Unleashed-style play. Now what aren't they telling us? Where's the catch?
  3. I was excited by the announcement of this game, and couldn't wait to hear what funky new remixes they come up with for Green Hill as I liked the version they did in SA2. It was one of those rare times that I've been particularly interested to hear a game's music, then I heard the music in that gameplay trailer and was rather disappointed. I'm in two minds about the classic version remix, on the one hand, it is slightly funkier and it makes sense for it to sound close to the Mega Drive original, but I would also have liked a slightly new sound to the main tune, like the Sonic Adventure 2 version did, or a more epic sounding version of the whole thing like the music from Smash Bros. Melee. I thought they'd come up with something really awesome for the modern Sonic remix, but no, instead they've managed to come up with a version that just sounds irritating to me. Looking forward to the game, but I'm no longer looking forward to the music. One positive, the end-of-level sign shows classic Robotnik, yay!
  4. Tested my 3DS in two other locations yesterday and the mic seemed to behave, so looks like something in my home area may be interfering with it, which will be a nuisance if I ever get a game that requires mic use. Face Raiders has provided all the funniest moments, been collecting peoples' faces, even cats and dogs can't escape (although they certainly try), fighting my cat as the boss was hilarious! What was also hilarious was how the 3DS recognised my older brother (mid-30s) as a baby boy. Been jumping between things, but probably played Pilotwings the most, which is a shame as it's a short game, I'll start really getting into it and I'll be done. I'm quite good at crashing my plane and landing my Mii in the sea instead of on the landing targets, which probably helps extend my playtime on this. Well, I never was any good at flight simulators. Run through two easiest-setting games of Street Fighter. It's nice to see the effect with the special viewing angle, but a similar viewing angle in Dead or Alive 3 on Xbox made it's final boss a nightmare, and it makes things awkward here as well, so I'll most likely switch to standard view when playing properly with higher difficulty, plus I found I simply couldn't keep the system steady during fights, causing the loss of the 3D effect. As for Monkey Ball, it is said that children under a certain age should not play with the 3D effect on, yet this game seems clearly aimed at them. My two young nieces went straight for this game when given the choice of game to try. When I start playing this properly, falling out of the level may be more of an achievement than finishing a level, guides and rails simply don't want to let you roll off the course. What happened to the challenge we had in the Gamecube games? EDIT: Started playing properly, gone through all seven worlds easier than I thought, even the last few levels didn't bother to throw up a challenge. Gamecube Monkey Ball had harder levels than this entire game even in the early stages and the levels in this one have nowhere near the amount of imagination gone into them as earlier games in the series. END EDIT Everyone I show the system to turns the depth slider right down to minimal-but-still-3D level, hmm. And just for the heck of it: 3523-2031-7144 Yes, it's a secret code that can be used to blow up the planet, or add me as a friend on your 3DS, the choice is yours... goodbye planet!
  5. I'm getting one. It came out here yesterday, but annoyingly, although the website I ordered from sent my games out nice and early (got them a day early), they only dispatched my 3DS itself yesterday on a next-day (working day) delivery so unless I get lucky, I'm not expecting it to turn up until Monday. Typical really, as the 3DS is a system with so much built-in stuff to play with, would have been better to have a system before games, rather than games before system. So I've got Street Fighter, Pilotwings and Monkey Ball which are all useless until my system arrives. But on Monday this week I did get the chance to have a go on some augmented reality games in a shop, which was amusing as I was playing Face Raiders (I assume), shooting enemies with my face on, the game tells me the enemies are behind me, but the fun part of all this is that the system was attached to a shop staff member (not female, unfortunately) who literally got it in the neck as I tried to turn to shoot the enemies all around me. Then the guy got out a giant paper version of the "?" card and put it on the floor so I could try the shooting game with the dragon coming out of a hole in the shop floor. They might want to get that fixed, that dragon will scare customers away almost as effectively as their prices do, good thing I was there to deal with the beast. Couldn't really see the 3D effect, but the circumstances and games probably weren't the best for testing, since my eyesight is uneven, I'll just have to give it a good testing when mine arrives. EDIT: GOT IT! Running through set-up, seems 3D works for me if I look at it from an odd angle, I'll see how it is when I actually play something I suppose. Damn my uneven eyes! EDIT 2: done setting up and had a fly around Wuhu island for a while, I managed to see the 3D effect eventually (without playing at a silly angle, thankfully), and it's quite odd when I move the depth slider up and down, volcano comes, volcano goes, volcano comes, volcano goes. Viewing the 3D make my smaller right eye water, presumably as it's trying to adjust to an unnatural view, and it's probably not as strong an effect as it would be for someone with proper eyes, but I'm just glad I CAN see some of it. EDIT 3: Time for a good old fasion SIG TEST! And it works! I have a playable sig below this message! EDIT... I'VE GIVEN UP COUNTING: From the first start-up, I've noticed something odd. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but sometimes the mic on my 3DS goes crazy with menu items spinning and jumping like mad (which I thought was supposed to be a nice little secret, rather than being right there the first time you see the main menu), and loading up the mic test shows it's recognising lots of noise, even though everything's perfectly quiet. Sometimes it's fine, but I have no idea what's (if it's not just random) causing it to start and stop. Turning off and restarting doesn't solve it, downloading the update doesn't solve it, and I worked out where the mic was and made sure I didn't touch it, even putting the system down and it still happens, odd. Only used it in my home so far, wondering if anything in our area is causing interference with it, but I'm not a technical guy, could simply be that I have a faulty 3DS, everything else seems fine.
  6. I used to love McDonald's when I was younger, always used to have Happy Meals. I remember when they were having a different Sonic toy each week (around the time of Sonic 3?), we had three out of the four toys, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails, but the fourth week we got Happy Meals and it was Sonic again instead of Robotnik, which was so disappointing. Seems silly now, but things like that matter when you're a kid. Now though, I'm almost 29, and I realise the quality of our UK McDonald's food isn't all that, and it's a rip off, a bit like everything else, I suppose. Seems like I'd have to completely buy out one of their restaurants to get my fill these days. But I do still like their chocolate milkshakes, and sometimes a McFlurry ice cream, depending on which types they're serving at the time. I don't understand why they keep doing Cornetto McFlurries as Cornetto is already an ice cream, so it doesn't need to be combined with... an ice cream, just pointless advertising. I'm a fan of Smith & Western, it's my favourite place to eat, it's stupidly expensive, but I get my fill at the American western-styled restaurant. Love to have a full rack of ribs with "fries" as they call them and a chocolate milkshake. Then I follow that with the massive Belly Buster "dessert" with loads of ice cream (I ask for extra ice cream as I don't like whipped cream), M&Ms, brownies, and warm chocolate sauce, which I eat by myself, even though it's meant to be shared, it's HEAVEN! Sometimes even the staff that work there are surprised I can eat so much, then there's the horrified look on the face of whoever I'm with at the time. Also like to go to Pizza Hut for their weekday "lunchtime" (I call it dinner time) buffets where I can have as much pizza as I want for a certain price, which ends up being an absolute bargain with my appetite, I'm surprised I haven't been banned from there yet. I'm legendary at the disabled day centre I used to go to for one occasion when I went to Pizza Hut with a group from there. I ate twenty six slices of pizza, the rest of the group had had enough and wanted to go shopping, so I snuck another six slices in my bag. Seemed rather unfair really, I ALWAYS had to wait for everyone else to finish eating after finishing my food, but on that occasion, it was their turn to wait for me for once and they couldn't manage it, just that once, pathetic. I need to move to America or something, my appetite's clearly too big for this country, it's certainly too big for our UK McDonald's. Poor clown, he must be starving. EXTRA BIT Oh dear, what timing! After posting in this topic last night, guess what I had for dinner (lunch to everyone else) today? Large fries, nine chicken McNuggets, Wispa McFlurry (yes, Wispa, not wisp, wisps aren't as chocolatey), large chocolate milkshake and McStarvation.
  7. *Comes into topic, looks at Gamerdude, sits down and waits* Welcome backwards, forwards, sidewards, hospital wards, afterwards, and all sorts of other crazy wards that are still welcoming, Gamerdude. I'm actually only here because I was told there'd be cake in this topic. Eating cake seems like the best way to cure my sausage roll addiction, but all the cakes seem to be lies. Still, it's been 2 minutes minus 120 seconds since my last sausage roll and I'm very proud of myself and the progress I've made. I... missed the point of the topic again, didn't I? *Curls up and goes to sleep in this topic*
  8. AAAH! THE COLOURS! THE SONIC CD-NESS! IT'S... IT'S... Time Twisted? That is awesome, so colourful I can't stop looking at it. Looks like it could have been Sonic CD 2 boxart.
  9. Ah yes, PC0, Sonic would certainly have to have a sonic screwdriver. It's sonic, it's Sonic's and just maybe it drives Sonic's screws, they're all a little loose! Maybe he named it after himself, maybe amy screwdriver didn't have the same ring to it, speaking of which, maybe he gets more rings for naming things better. What's my point? Ummm... I don't have one, I'm making insane stuff up as I go along, so pay attention everyone, I'd make a terrible role model, this is how talking on a forum isn't done. As for what I have in mind, I'm not sure, different ideas run through my head, whether it'd be a series or a one-off product? Whether it'd be more game or interactive cartoon of some sort? Whether it would have lots of story or just enough to give everything a reason to happen? Do I have any good stories to tell? Do I take any continuity from either franchise or start Sonic Who fresh as it's own thing? How Sonicy is it? How Doctor Whoey is it? How funny? How silly? How dark? Would a game play close to a traditional Sonic game or be very different? Which characters? Which locations? Which monsters/aliens? Which badniks? Which to merge between both franchises? What will Sonic's TARDIS be like? What audience do I have for such a project? Will anyone like [insert whatever idea I'm thinking of at the time]? How could everyone be kept interested? What would I enjoy and want to see if it was someone else's project? What mistakes have I, and others, made with past projects that I'm aware of that I shouldn't repeat? And the all-important question I think to myself, what could I actually do that I won't get bored of and drop half way through? So it's more a load of different thoughts and questions that run through my head rather than any solid plan as I'm not at the point where I'm ready to start any projects yet. But I'm sure I have the insanity to make Sonic Who work as long as I don't follow either franchise too strictly. One other thing is for certain, if I did do Sonic Who, it would have to be wibbly wobbly timey wimey! So jumping around in time would be a must, I wouldn't even question that.
  10. Got this game on Wii and DS for Christmas. On WiiWii, even though I've finished the story, I'm still not sure what to make of this game, which is rather unusual for me, normally I like main-series Sonic games once I get the hang of them. At times, the 2D bits feel too much like Smash Bros rather than a Sonic game, and I can't seem to get used to the feel of controlling Sonic, made worse as this game has that annoying problem where you're trying to do a tricky platforming bit but end up falling to your death because Sonic didn't jump when you pressed the jump button. Also, although not a fault of the game, playing this game reminded me just how bad my eyesight's getting as I was finding it tricky to see things, and kept losing track of where Sonic was during the 2D bits that zoom out so he looks microscopic. Some levels seem to go on too long while others are too short, and then there's the recycled bosses, booooooo! At least I can say this feels more consistant than other 3D Sonics, it does try something slightly different without going too far, and it doesn't force you to play a treasure hunting level, a shooting level, a werehog level or a level that's one long QTE. And some of the cutscenes are funny. Obviously it can't be that bad if I've played all the way through, but maybe I just need to stick with it, maybe this game will grow on me. And as for the DS version? I haven't played much of it yet, but so far it mostly feels like recycled Sonic Rush with lazy graphics. DAMN I'm in whinge mode tonight, what did poor ol' Sonic Colours ever do to me? Just look at me go!
  11. Does anyone here even have retro 3D glasses to try this? Now in 3D... maybe! Because dodgy anaglyph pictures are cool.
  12. Of course I've thought of doing Sonic Who, but it's not happening for the same reasons TA2's not happening, silly monitor making me dizzy and headachey, I'd like to do SOMETHING fangamey when I've eventually got my final set-up, although I'm not up to today's Sonic Worlds standards. The new PC's fine, just need to get a new monitor that's compatible with me. Although whether I could do Sonic Who without it being too story-driven for everyone's liking is another thing. I always thought this looked like it should have been a classic Sonic logo.
  13. Even I didn't have a copy of the TFR2 demo, in fact, I haven't got sod all now I've got a new computer, but Godmaster gave me a link to a copy in a PM when he was trying to find it a little while ago. I've now uploaded it to my collection of attachments. Sonic: The Fast Revelation 2 Demo Digitally Godmastered for optimum... something or other. Haven't checked to make sure this is still TFR2, so naked boobies and my banning are still a slight possibility. TA2 Engine Test There is no TA2, so this'll be a really crappy joke then. A Christmas Game From a couple years ago, a Christmas Robotnik game with a long name. And the rest are strange Sonic pictures from one of my topics in the art forum. TFR2.zip
  14. It was ten years ago today that Rlan posted Sonic: The Fast Revelation up on SFGHQ! I was visiting the site for over half a year before that, but that was when I really became known to you lot. Shortly before the release of TFR I sent Rlan a reeeaaally crappy game to feature in a site update, it was called PS2 Blast, where you shot PS2s falling to the crowd below in order to save the Dreamcast. But that game wasn't really worth remembering, LOL. So what do I do to mark this amazing occasion? Eeerm... not a lot. Had lots of snow last night, so all plans for today had to be cancelled. Can't even announce STA2's in the works, because it's not. I can hear you all committing suicide right now! Got a new computer recently after my crappy old one finally completely gave up, but have had a problem with the new monitor giving me headaches and making me dizzy, not good. This is probably what you'd call a sort of blog rather than a decent discussion topic, but TFR's 10th anniversary had to be mentioned, because, er... no-one told me to do it. No, no-one at all, nope, no trees, not even any chests of drawers, nope, nobody told me to do it. Maybe one day I'll come up with something worth discussing and we can discuss forever and ever and... oh, I forgot, everyone committed suicide already. Ah well, all ghosts are welcome to post below!
  15. *Reads instruction from the first post* *Takes a dump in the topic*
  16. For Episode 2 we're putting in werehog levels, flying levels that are played as one long QTE sequence, SA2-style shooting and gem searching levels and we're throwing the laws of physics out the window entirely, it'll be coded so badly, Sonic (and many other characters) may come out of your screen! No need for any fancy 3D TV or 3DS, now he'll be able to stand on YOUR wall and even your ceiling! Lots of jumping mine carts, less robots, more mutants to fight, oh, and there will even be levels that play themselves, you won't even have to hold right! The game will have 260219821337 characters, with terrible voice acting you will need to listen to for clues to get through each level. Episode 1 didn't have enough cutscenes, but Episode 2 will have hundreds, and each will be at least an hour long and unskippable, and we're bringing back a certain love story from 2006! The game will have levels based on Angel Island Zone, Mushroom Hill Zone, Text Box Zone and Large Sausage Roll Zone. All Sonic levels will be played entirely underwater! I bet you all can't wait to pay your £/€/@/¥/$1,000,000,000,000,000,000 for the game, it'll be worth every penny! Even though every version will be exactly the same (except the iPhone one, which will be an unfinished version like Episode 1), you have to buy it on EVERY platform we release it on as well as re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release it on BECAUSE IT'S SONIC, and if you don't, you're not a real fan... and you'll die a terrible, terrible death, but it's mainly the fan thing everyone will worry about. *Prepares to die*
  17. A genuine screenshot from the iPhone version, and the big plot twist is finally revealed, sideways, in true Sonic 4 style! IT WAS ME! I'm responsible for all your sideways Sonics standing around on the walls! And you suckers ain't seen nothing yet, just wait till you see how much of a mess I make with Episode 2! Although I don't seem to remember doing any of this. SEGA must have wiped my memory, although this does explain why I seem to be good at PS3 Special Stage 5.
  18. My own design based on the (now cancelled) Big Brother UK logo, which used a different design every year. The original idea was to base this design on a heartrate monitor, but the end result also looks a bit alien, a bit spooky, a bit Tim Burton and a bit Matrix all at the same time while still somewhat resembling the Big Brother eye. Think he flatlined? Think again!
  19. Ah, didn't think of this, I've had a friend request on the PS3, is it anyone from here? If not, it's probably a random person who found my name on the Sonic 4 leaderboards, but unless I know who it is, I won't accept.
  20. YAAAAAY! At the time of posting this message, HyperMonkeyKing (me) is top of the PS3 Time Attack leaderboard for Special Stage 5 with a time of 1'01"00! But then again, game's not been out long, so someone will beat it soon, but it's nice to be on top while it lasts. This one's a pain in the iPhone version, so much easier on PS3, even though it's the same damn stage. EDIT: My time seems to have magically changed without me playing again, it's gone from 1'01"00 to 1'04"32, strange. And yes, more time seems to be a good thing on this leaderboard.
  21. [insert best joke ever here] [insert "Happy birthday Nitemare!" message here] [insert win here] [insert coin here] [Outsert wind here] [insert unwanted grannies to be recycled here] [insert unwanted recycled grannies elsewhere] [insert "You get the idea" message here] [insert "WTF?!" message below]
  22. Yes! Happy birthday! Let the Sparks fly! Fly, be free, not expensive! In other news, I really need some decent sleep.
  23. Dedicated to all the Droid zealots out there, loads of love to ya! MADE IN iPHONELAND
  24. I should probably buy an iPhone 4 as well, as my 3GS doesn't have that problem, LOL. But still... *Curls up in the corner and cries like a little girl* UBER NINJAS, ROLL OUT!
  25. Never understood why I seem to like drawing snowmen when they're so out of season. This one could have been done sooooo much quicker, easier and better on the computer, actually. YOU'RE MEEELLLTIIINNNG!
