My girlfriend is obsessed with S&M by Rihanna... so I suppose that's one thing I've been listening to a lot recently. It's a good song, love how 90s it sounds. Used to hate Rihanna, but ever since Chris Brown was knocking her about she's grown on me and produced some mighty fine tunes. Rude Boy is especially good and I don't even know why.

a little bit of info for your advance stuff: I love those 8-bit instrument samples. But what would really make it a sonic advance style tune would be a pulse-wave bass sound and lots of square arpeggios in the background (think Angel Island from S.adv)

I wouldn't mind doing some original music and sound effects for this. Can do a few different styles of music, can stick with genesis stuff or go beyond.

I'm gonna half disagree with the weed smoking thing. For some people it works great, didn't do anything for me and I have plenty of chest problems. What I would suggest, however, is exercise. When I was suffering from the sad-sads I was told to do more exercise as it releases endorphins and also helps your sleeping patterns (at that time I'd struggle to wake up before 2pm and would fall asleep at 6pm, only to wake at 12am and be awake and alone till about 8am). So I joined a gym and took up running. It really really helped me out as it felt like I was doing something with my day. Downside is that it turns out I have a shite left knee so I'm banned from running till I get that shit sorted. But yeah. Go for a brisk walk or jog. Drink plenty of water. Check your balls for lumps every month.

Give it a few weeks, you'll be alright. I haven't even seen my dad in over 17 years; in a few years you'll have a lot more to worry about... which is kind of a good thing as you just learn to deal with other minor things.

You could run round the asteroids the same way sonic runs round those round belt things in Carnival Night Zone.

I have an idea for a wee game starring the characters in my avatar and signature. Advance through a series of stages and get to the end of the game within a time limit. The amount of time you complete the game within depends on your overall score and ending. There are multiple paths depending on the difficulty as well as different puzzles, some can be solved by the yellow guy, some require his bird to fly off to a higher point to solve a puzzle. I dunno... it's kind of like Sonic fused with Revenge of Metaknight.

it seems to me like the hand itself is just a little too big once it leaves his side... maybe shave a pixel or two off the length of the thumb and index finger.

I had another go last night whilst sitting a bit closer to the TV and it was a lot better. but still... it couldn't hurt to slow sonic down a teensy bit.

just got home from uni yesterday so I finally had access to wireless internet to download the demo. jesus christ is sonic fast. he's like the fastest thing alive or something. now don't get me wrong, I like it, but sonic is just way too fast. I have no time to appreciate the surroundings. It's all too much for my eyes to take in and I was just sort of letting sonic run along and would just hope he didn't run into anything. spindash holy fuuuuuuuuuuuu- the great thing about green hill zone on the megadrive was just running along and being able to take in all the colourful backgrounds, but you just have no time to react here. this could let it down for me.

If there's one thing I learned from my art degree it's that once you display something in an artistic context (such as an art gallery or art forum) its meaning can be interpreted in a completely different way. I've seen a rubix cube covered in gay porn, a bicycle next to a clear box containing mouldy bread and a picture of a vagina stretched across a huge wall. Some of you may know about TFM Music Maker, released by Shiru a while ago. It was a tracker-style program that allowed you to use the Yamaha OPN chip and produce music that could actually be played on the Sega Megadrive and the Turbosound FM Chip in the ZX Spectrum. It was a lovely program, though it didn't really allow you to use the most of the Megadrive hardware (no PSG or PCM support). Well because Shiru is an absolute hero, he's finally released VGM Music Maker, which makes full use of the Megadrive audio hardware. Full YM2612 and PSG control. I thought it would be of interest to some people here who would like to create authentic Megadrive music for their fangames. the DLC stuff had better not just bot all the Sonic 2 levels, we already had those regurgitated on us via Sonic 4.

was really impressed with this. it's nice to see a finished fangame. sonic's movement is a little dodgy but i got used to it. would benefit from some original 8-bit style music though! there's something awful about midi chiptunes
