  1. Sonic Dash, once you know what you're looking at, is incredibly flexible in that regard. At least from what i can tell. Just take the engine line-by-line, object-by-object, script-by-script and get a grasp on it
  2. If you can be a little patient, I can share my notes on the Sonic Dash engine for Game Maker 8
  3. Okay, so make a new thread, link to the original. Noted. Thank you.
  4. What is the rule on necroposting here? Say I want to start a discussion pertaining to something posted a few years ago, would it be okay to bump that thread or should a new thread be started?
  5. To be honest, I'm the same way. My project is massive. However, I've been building my game with the mindset that I could give up on it at any time, so I've been building it in steps. That way, if I ever do give up, I can still have a solid game ready for release. In example, my first goal is to get some Sonic levels going. Once I have about 3 or 4, I think back to my original plan and make two more Sonic levels, and a single level for two other characters. At this point, if I get tired of the project, I still have six Sonic levels as well as two additional levels, enough for a game. Really, it's just a personal strategy of mine. Hope the advice helps even a little.
  6. At least now we're on the right track. Give a little to get a little. But still, I recommend you start small, for not only your sake, but anyone else you manage to get on the project. Build the game with Sonic only. Then, branch out to additional characters once you have a solid base.
  7. By all means, show for it then. The Mystical Forest Zone has a blaze sprite sheet, I believe. I'm sure, if you ARE the spriter you claim to be (not stating you aren't), then revamping the sheet and creating your own animations should be little to no problem, right? Nobody is going to come in and offer you help, especially on a project this daunting, unless you can contribute something besides the idea. Post some of your sprites. I'm not trying to condescend, I'm trying to be of help. My words may be harsh, but my intentions aren't.
  8. I've gotten the vibes that he really wasn't.
  9. In other words, you want somebody to code the game for you? And you claim to not be new to spriting, yet you can't "get" a Blaze the Cat spritesheet? Harkens me back to my very first foray into Sonic fangaming. Ohoohoho, 21 playable characters was a hoot. My advice is simple: Drop about... say... ten of those characters, seven of your stages, and build a good Sonic only game with about seven stages. Of course, that'd require you actually doing some programming, which you seem set on not doing. Please forgive me for sounding rude, but get real.
  10. Yeah, I'm kind of trying to "follow the game" so to speak, and taking notes on what this variable does, why it does it, etc. It's a little confusing, but taking this approach helps. EDIT: Aha! The second question is in fact the answer to the first
  11. Thanks for the advice from both of you. I've been trying to wrap my head around it for awhile now. Okay, about the .ANIM files, what bearing do those have on the engine? I noticed my game won't load up the character graphics without them, but why exactly?
  12. Okay, so I've been playing around with the Sonic Dash engine for GM7. It's great and solid, but overall it's still pretty confusing. I have only minimal experience with Game Maker and that's being generous, so it doesn't help that I'm confused. My question is if there is any documentation on how to use the engine in general. For instance, I'm using a Sonic sprite with different animation frames, so where in the engine can I edit the values for the animations? Any help would be most appreciated.
  13. Okay, that's no problem I'm going to fork up a few bucks and I'll be back in a few weeks. Until then, see ya!
  14. So, I kinda found some things out, but anybody know where I can find a guide of some sort to build a Sonic engine from scratch? I wish to use my own, but i wanted to look at others for pointers and whatnot.
  15. Hmm... I'll check it out, then. At the moment, I am hard-pressed for cash, and balancing school with sports and whatnot, makes it quite hard to get a job. Doesn't help my family is below the poverty line Nonetheless, i could come up with 20 bucks if I absolutely wanted to. Anyways, is that unreg 360 engine addon friendly? Can I just stick in a Sonic movement engine and be on my way, or will it be overly complicated to do so?
  16. So..... Can you pull off 360 and slopes in GM Lite?
  17. I'm kinda screwed both ways... Is it possible to do 360 movement and slopes in Lite mode? What I meant by support was, not game making support but Sonic Game support. Also, will they be making a SonicWorlds engine for GM?
  18. Well, i downloaded the demo to MMF2, and I kinda like what I see, but thirty days isn't long enough to make a good Sonic game. I might buy the program if I like it enough, but is that what most people use?
  19. I THINK this is where it would go, but I have been using Game Maker for a while, but it seems there is generally not much support for it compared to MMF. However, I can't fork out hundreds of dollars for a game making tool I know next to nothing about, but with Sonic Worlds, it seems much more user-friendly. :\ Even then, I'm only using GM7 Lite, which hinders my game making even further... So what would be the way to go? How limited is the MM2 demo?
