  1. Yo te entiendo. |3 Añadí la traducción a tu mensaje. I understand you. I added a translation for your message.
  2. Because leaving the status in there would only make things worse, I guess. One of the cases I can remember was a spamfest - leaving it in there only increased the likewise spammy replies. The status system is interesting, albeit flawed IMO due to the lack of archival. and it's just another FB ripoff Maybe IPB4 has a better system for it, we'll see.
  3. Pretty much. If we staff could read deleted statuses it would be easier to manage, but that's not the case. Delete, and it's gone - this does not help moderating at all. This is why statuses caused me and the others a lot of problems because it wasn't just members who saw a bunch of statuses suddenly implode - it was the same for our side. I'll be checking around other subforums and my bookmarks for other lost threads. I remember that after the offline period, some things broke or reverted in my side. My WIP themes are safe, though - phew.
  4. That situation wasn't the only one. Out of all the situations that happened in statuses, I was able to fully get the picture of... none. There are no tools to ease status management. I'm sure it influenced the decision, of course. Regardless, I was seeing it coming because it wasn't just me who was fed up with the status system. As for the thread, sorry - I skimmed over that initial part of your post before. And... I can't find it. Doesn't pop up anywhere. Hitting your sig link or the bookmark I had on it only ends up with an error.
  5. Okay, let's tackle the status update thing a little bit. They were redundant. The fact that they're called 'Status Updates' is because it just rips off Facebook. For a real 'status text' (as in the kind used back on MSN or AIM), there's the member subtitle. Feel free to put your current mood or whatnot in there. Jassbec, if you want to make a thread of what you ate today, or a thread about game recommendations... By all means, do so. That's what making threads in a forum is all about. Songs you like? Step it up a notch and make it an 'Artists/Songs/Albums you like' thread. Forums managed just fine without these 'status update' things a couple years ago. Should the need arise, new subcategories for threads can be made. Another important aspect is that the status updates are volatile and quickly drop down as new ones come up. Threads stay in their respective forums and are searchable and taggable. They are much more manageable. Lastly, the updates thing becomes chaotic if not controlled. I wasn't even able to fully see whatever shit came up since it was deleted before I could even be back online. We've had our fair share of useless spammy posts in the statuses, and that bumps up the notification counter up to the sky. All for a bunch of text that needs to be managed individually, and is not archived unlike regular posts. I understand you might be frustrated, but believe me - I was too. It was really annoying to come in and see chaos brought up because something happened in the statuses, and when I asked what was it, I only got 'it was already deleted' as a response. No traces remain, so I wasn't even able to get the full picture of the happenings. It's a nightmare for the ones who have to keep an eye on. Staff has concluded that they had to go, and that will remain as is for the time being. --------------------------------- That's what I have to say regarding updates. As for likes - as I previously mentioned, back on SFGHQ we got rid of the system because it was broken. Personally I don't mind the likes system, but I'd prefer it to be like old 'Rep' style where +/- values are possible (Likes are just a positive value - once again another FB ripoff). If I find an implementation that works rep style and make it work, I'll see what I can do about it.
  6. It doesn't have anything to do with your iPad, and it's not a bug either... It's a feature Read: http://sonicunited.org/forums/index.php?/topic/7702-feedback-bug-findings/?p=163577 The buttons shouldn't display on the desktop forums anymore, but I guess your iPad app is static in that regard and shows the controls to do these things even if the features are disabled.
  7. He did say that he was influenced by Hideki, so I just pointed out that it does kick ass just like him. Both Advance and Rush have great OSTs, but I'll stick with Rush. It's so damn catchy...
  8. I have a feeling I've seen this before. Maybe on another board? This kicks ass, just like Naganuma. Going to give the rest a listen later - nice work!
  9. You screwed up, your link simply opens this thread again... STREAM WHERE ._.
  10. A shoutbox is easy to implement and tends to work well. We did have CometChat but it was too intrusive.
  11. Well, the like system is more akin to a rep system like the one we had in the HQ. Then again, we did get rid of rep in the final year of the HQ since it was broken. I'd prefer a regular rep system, but the like system wasn't that bad. It does have that ugly facebook aftertaste, though. Rep systems allowed negative rep too, and it was more global instead of being constrained to posts. As for status updates, screw them. They're a twitter wannabe thing that tends to work as a filler. I'm more of a shoutbox fan myself, maybe we can get something like that later on. In the end, this is a byproduct of facebook and other crappy social media sites becoming the norm. Few years ago nobody would've expected a forum to have user blogs, but hey - vB introduced them as a separate module just like IPB.
  12. Surely Yukiko is in... she has to! Fuck the delay though.
  13. Glad to hear you're back on track. Now... SET UP PROPER BACKUP SCHEMES Seriously. rsync is the best thing you can use, and I'm sure there's a bunch of file sync programs for windows that use it.
  14. Regular backups should be standard procedure for any kind of computer user, especially creators. Of course, there's the people who go all MUH CLOUD but that doesn't cut it. You need on-site, easily accessible and transportable backups. For those that need some guidance, let Archive Team help with that: http://archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Introduction
  15. Ditto. How's that kickstarter 'Hover' project going, by the way? I heard Hideki joined them.
  16. That reminds me, I still didn't try Colors on the DS. I've read that it's worth playing, and the music sounds very good too. Wii version is amazing, though.
  17. Excuse me, best Rush song coming right here If I could, I'd embed it on this thread's html While SRA is fun as well, I prefer Rush because of no padding and dat Naganuma music. Nakagawa did well with SRA's music, but it doesn't surpass the power of Naganuma. After all, he's the one that can UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF LOVE.
  18. Only thing I can say here is that you should keep working on your stuff, Plom. It doesn't matter how professional things look - this is not a contest. I can see the 'creator's spririt' that is being put on, and that speaks volumes. Most of us did our fangames in the past thinking they were professional as fuck, and looking back we can only cringe. It's a part of learning and getting used to things. That says it all. This is a free game, after all. It's not for the professionalism or profit. It's to fullfill a desire of creating and having at least someone enjoy it. Remember how Pixel described Cave Story? It basically went down something like this: CS is a platform game. There is a save feature that allows you to resume from where you left. On the other side you have all these 'indie' developers that only know how to toot their horns and just want the attention *cough*Phil*cough*Fish There are good indie devs, but a sizeable bunch thinks they're celebrities instead. It's really ugly. Plom, you have the potential. Bingo might not be a hit, but the most important thing is that you are learning from it, and there's no reason for this to be your first and final project. Expand your horizons, and keep rockin'. That being said, time to check out your new beta, and how your project evolved through the years. I'll talk about the game itself when I'm done with it.
  19. Overall, I loved Wawe Master's work with the Advance soundtracks. The first time I heard Sunset Hill felt amazing. Other great tracks that stand out for me are Library, Sky Canyon, Route 99 and Chaos Angel. Man, these are good. It's normal for games to keep themes, as Potato says. Mario uses the same leitmotifs all the time. Same for Zelda. It's an identity of the series. As for Sonic, the identity would be either the S1 title screen song or Green Hill.
  20. True. I remember GHZ Act 1. After finishing the level, the DRAMA BOMB starts though, with that time warp thing ruining Sonic's birthday. What an asshole. Colors on the other hand just goes with the flow and doesn't care.
  21. Colors > Generations > Unleashed. Colors wins because of the small but important things: You hit A at the title screen and BAM! You're playing Tropical Resort Act 1. No stupid intro cutscene or crap in the way. The zones are great and there are SIX acts for each with a whole set of 'act remixes' for all. Act remixes are one of the things I love the most in Sonic since it was introduced in 3. Eggman's announcements in the zones are also pretty neat. It's not duct tape, it's... SPACE tape. Yeah, pretty advanced stuff Also, scenes and dialog are lighthearted enough and there's no DARK GAIA END OF THE WORLD drama. Generations (not the handheld version) is good as well, but I hated the challenge levels being used as padding for the game. The skill customization system didn't really strike me as interesting, either. Most zones are pretty damn good, although some frustrated me a lot (Seaside Hill Classic, I'm looking at you). Oh, and FUCK the final boss. It was like playing Persona 3 with a thousand Fuukas instead of just one. Unleashed... I'll be honest - I still didn't beat it completely. I just want to play the action zones, not slog through hub worlds and talk to people wasting time.
  22. Pic looks fine now. As for screenshots, imgur is pretty good.
  23. Oh, that's a pretty small spelling difference. The more I know.
  24. Now that's what I call complex, lol I just thought of it as based in the word reventar. Explanation: Reventador in spanish (and portuguese, I think?) means something along the lines of 'blower' (as in blowing things up) or 'exploder'.
  25. Uh, don't worry about it. I don't think the OP is going to read the reply, though.
