  1. Ages ago most Sonic fan-games used the platform movement or were non-sonic styled games. A big revolution happened when the Static Engine became popular, influencing every game that came after it, raising the standards to another level. But the last revolution was when the 360 engine was born, it evolved to the point that now we have an engine almost 1:1 to the classic, used by half of the fan-games nowadays.

But what's going to happen from now on? I've seen some posts here commenting about how most of the fan-games became Sonic Worlds with different graphics with no innovation.

That brought me some questions that I would like to know other people's opinions... Does the classic style needs innovation? Are people bored of the classic gameplay? Copying graphics, game style or other things from the official games is a bad thing? Does the standard raised so much that a hobby like fan-gaming became too hard to conciliate with real life, so that nobody finish or work too much in their games? What do you expect to see in a fan-game nowadays?

Except for a full game, I guess we all already expect it!

  2. I've played until dreamcast era so far. What I have to say is that Sega finally found the right formula for modern Sonic, I'm having tons of fun with it.

About classic Sonic though I have to say it's a failure. It's not even close to the monstruosity of Sonic 4, but yet it's not like I used to play the genesis games.

Physics ruined rolling, even in a half pipe (those U shaped), where I was suposed to charge the speed and access higher places by keeping rolling, simply doesn't work in Generations. The insta-spindash is unfair. And the engine just feels wrong in many slopes. At least the level design makes classic Sonic levels sorta fun...

  3. Definitely it is, dude. With clear references to Sonic 4 on the trailer and Metal Sonic already confirmed on Episode II, through the ending of Episode I, hell yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic 4 Episode II had Time Travel too.

Fuck Time Travel, I hope that Episode II has Retro Sonic's engine!

  4. The ParadoxX, it's looking awesome, I just think that Sonic's pallete looks wrong. I dunno...

His pallete looks kinda darken than really is on Sonic 2

Ehehe, maybe it's just my imagination, dunno. Well can't say much since it doesn't have

Graphics custom or something. It just looks like an emulator (because of the first screen).

And I though that you were wanting to make a fangame (with story and everything)

Maybe like Radical Sonic of yours. But you know what I think of you and your engine, so I can say that I'm very, very

    Excited.

I still don't know what this is going to be, but if it's going to be a fangame with story and everything, expect to see original levels and graphics!

Also, read the first characters of my comment. <3

    I'm a looser ¬¬'

FINALY DUDE!I thought you died I thought you forgot about it or something. I really didn't expect it was being still worked on. I'm very intreguied on to how this is going to turn out. *keeps eyes wide open on it*.

I've been working for years on it, but I think that soon I'll release something =)

  5. HOLY SHIT HOW AMAZING you are Brazillian too.

Is that the C++ Sonic thingy on your signature? Looks awesome.

Yep, but it's just a prototype name yet.

EDIT: Just noticed something. "Palheta" is that thing that we use to play guitar. "Paleta" is related to colors. Sorry for the Portuguese class >:

Nah, I'll translate everything to english anyway!

EDIT2: Does it import from actual Sonic ROMs too?

It's very hard to get data directly from the ROM's, but it's very easy to get from Save States. I still don't know exactly the direction this project will take, so importing directly from ROM's will depend of that.

  6. I'd play Pocket Adventure over Sonic 4 any day. At least it has momentum, decent level layout, and original bosses.

Yeah I'm still that old Pocket fanboy at heart. :(

That's not fanboyism, Pocket Adventure is far superior than Sonic 4.

About Sonic Adventure 2: as I said once to you, I may agree with some of your arguments, but many of them could be applied to SA1:

    - SA1 had a complicated and dark story too - both great IMO, in fact, I don't think that storyline is the biggest issue with the next-gen games.

    - Being forced to play with other characters is really annoying, but to finish SA1 you had to play with boring characters as well.

    - SA1 levels are as linear as SA2 levels. SA2 just feels more linear because sonic moves faster with the new grind and tricks stuff.

I think that everything that's wrong nowadays started with SA1, and the next games just fucked it up even more. But there are many elements of the next-gen gameplay that are fun, that's why I still like SA2. It may not be perfect, but to me is the best 3D Sonic game, SA1 in second (I haven't played anything after Shadow the Hedgehog though).
