  1. Doujin means self-published. Anyone who automatically thinks 'hentai' when that word comes up, has been exposed to too much hentai. Then again, the whole doujin business tends to be a little sexed up....
  2. The first one is okay, it's the aliasing that kills!
  3. That's mostly because nobody cares about those OS's anyway On a more serious note, it's because more people need to test it out and give feedback. So it's a chicken-and-egg kind of thing in one sense, but in the other sense, the naysayers are the only ones you can really yell at. ...unless you don't like the ports system. Then you can yell at them. Either way, I like Linux on this particular machine; no BSD has the drivers for it. EDIT: holy crap, I'm like the king of OT.
  4. Why? Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, and Darwin not good enough for you? Try using a ricer kernel (my latest favorite flavor is the no-series, because of the reiser4, fbsplash, and staircase from ck). It makes my 512MB RAM piece of junk... actually not terrible to use. Staircase scheduler is spiffy.
  5. I saw Ehrgeiz at an arcade in Myrtle Beach... that was four years ago, though. It was... weird.
  6. Oh, it's announced. That E3 will be a different event next year. http://www.gamespot.com/pages/news/story.php?sid=6154935 Not a surprising move.
  7. Trust me, this guy in particular wanted to be all mad.
  8. I don't think they'll sneeze if you do both, but they probably prefer a HQ digital format (since most people do not have good printers in the least). If you number them, though, print out a sheet with thumbnails.
  9. To be honest, I've kind of always resented E3 for various reasons. On one side, it's not supposed to be open to the public, so gamers in general aren't really supposed to come in. It's for developers and press. Serious business. On the other side, that rule wasn't enforced too well. It's more like the toy store than the toy expo (you know, where all boring old people in the toy manufacturers and such show off the toys but pretend it's not fun). The industry has gone from being one of insanely rapid growth to being the second-biggest entertainment form in the U.S. at least, with not as much room as there used to be for the new guys to squeeze in. Not much room for excesses. It's like what happened to Comdex. Then again, I resent a lot of West Coast stuff, because that's just me. @Eraysor: ever been to Japan?
  10. They correspond together pretty well, though.Oh, forgot to mention: the users are jerks :E
  11. Efficiency is not overrated. I've been using Firefox since it was Phoenix (not to mention Netscrape) and have yet to find a darn good reason to use it.
  12. I haven't used Windows since May. Also, screw your features, I'm talking speed here.
  13. If the future is slower and more RAM-clogging, I'm staying in the past with my Opera. Extensions? Makes it even slower!Yeah, to tell the truth, it's mostly porn that gives you porn ads. @DW: Helio has a hard sell, the only real benefit is Korean-friendly features across the U.S. AFAICT... the Myspace thing is pretty much the only thing you can pimp up with English users. Oh, and Myspace is only going to be around to piss you off more because Rupert Murdoch owns it. Whatever.
  14. http://celestia.sourceforge.net/
  15. Well, why the heck not just fix it? Also, don't use Internet Exploder where it isn't called for. Which is pretty much just Windows Update for most things worth looking at.
  16. Verily, can one go down I95 without being behind one?
  17. Hm, I remember a few kids games... might not be so interesting if you don't like kid humor or playing around like a kid. Stay Tooned (Sierra Online, 1993), a nice Saturday morning cartoon styled game. Funny as all heck, and some of the humor is immature yet quite sophisticated. Recess in Greece (Morgan Interactive, 1994), following the monkey Morgan (as Odysseus) through the myths of Ancient Greece, especially as seen through the Iliad. Lots of amusing ADHD-inspired animations done by Vietnamese artists. Not posting any others coming to mind, since I don't think they warrant "gem" status. Oh, and if you've never played the Hugo trilogy, you don't deserve to call yourself a master a gaming.
  18. One photo looks that way, but the other photo just proves that you aren't the god of photography so the first one only looks like a 'chop. Old BRPtic slogan, though: we don't do... sculpture.
  19. Hey now, the I with a dot over it would like to take it outside with you.
  20. [...] Just get your security in gear and move on....
  21. Anyone remember that one that looks like it's flicking you (or someone) off?
  22. Well, it reeks of MSVC-style code anyways. Obviously Microsoft wouldn't change the size of their all-caps types (because breaking working code like that is stupid). But the "int" type is supposed to be a word, which varies from processor to processor. Oh, and I didn't even touch the endianness issue. EDIT: grrr I was going to set about implementing a libsif, but the system is down!
  23. I mean like "unsigned 32-bit" kind of standards. In the One True Lingo, a "word" happens to be whatever the processor takes natively (that is, 16 bits on 8086, 32 on 386, 64 on ppc64, etc.).
