  1. Mettrix is a fangame made in E02. So they both use ass-backwards formats Also, isn't there that Attitude Engine in the works? And what's the word on RSDK's public release?
  2. I personally never used it, it was shown to me by someone looking around for open source game creation IDEs in hopes of finding a good one that is/can be ported to Linux
  3. Uhm, did you even read the sticky at the top of this forum?
  4. How about something like this? If you know how to build stuff from source you can get it for free via their sourceforge SVN
  5. Near the end of the second stage, there is a difficult-to-avoid instakill trap. That stage also has no checkpoints! Try taking the upper route to the exit in the third stage... If you use the Light Dash, then die, you will be in for a very nasty surprise, especially if you're going for all the chaos pebbles! You do have a limited number of lives to beat the game with, but you have at least one opportunity for an extra life in each stage. One of the people that tested my game actually began to demand that I remove this, so instead I added a cheat code for 99 lives... If the second boss reaches the leftmost side of the screen, instant game over. The boss will continue to move even after you die and while you wait to respawn.
  6. And I didn't even get a single vote. Where did I go wrong? Chips was a genius level
  7. Yeah I tried it last night and it works a hell of a lot better... but why was the camera designed in a way that it will get hung up? As in, why can't the camera noclip through the level and not have an inside texture? Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy did something similar to this. Or maybe I'm just too forward thinking on a solution to the camera issues :V Also, boo on not being able to save your game if you use a player WAD.
  8. Might have to do the analogue control thing Blaze mentioned.
  9. damn you ila, you and your entry Evil the Hedgehog 2 beat out my game in the random horseshit category
  10. I'm using a laptop. What mouse? e: Also, I prefer playing games with a game controller, because that's what game controllers are for.
  11. I shall be blunt: the controls in this game are terrible. As I play the game, I feel that I am constantly battling the camera. Okay, yeah, Sonic Team Jr. apparently hated the style of camera in Sonic Adventure and wanted one that was always behind Sonic. But it doesn't work. I am completely unable to change the camera angle in this game despite mapping keys for the turn camera left/right controls. I can only make it look up or down with is actually useless. The only way to see what is to the left or right of me is to turn Sonic. And when you have to make a lot of sharp turns, like grabbing a cluster of rings in a special stage for example, it makes the camera spin madly around. I honestly wish I could use the right stick on my Xbox 360 controller to completely control the camera, but I cannot. This is by far the worst camera I have ever had to experience in ANY Sonic game. And to compound this, the momentum makes Sonic nearly uncontrollable at times. Try making a midair turn while moving at high speed like in Sonic Adventure. You can't! So now you cannot correct your trajectory and instead land in some unforseen trap at high speed. But the camera is my biggest complaint. Because of this I actually started to get motion sickness while playing, and had to stop. I hope 2.1 fixes this.
  12. Oldest trick in the book The requirement for this year's contest was a terribad plot twist - so I decided to make the entire plot just that - plot twists. Hence the name. It will keep you guessing again and again!
  13. Is it wrong that it's been taking me all week so far to get a 5/7ths done game for this thing? :X EDIT: Screw it, if I was to wait until this was done it would be too late for the contest. Email sent to slingerland. Here's my submission, yes it is incomplete and I will probably finish it later because from the reaction I got from people playing this, it's apparently brilliant: clicky [15MB][7z] EDIT 2: CnC DLLs in case you don't have them
  14. This is quite nice, but the hints don't grey out correctly. Maybe you should do it like PicrossDS does?
  15. Either shrink the body or increase the overall height of the sprite.
  16. Check out the Java runtime, then. In MMF2 Developer, there's an option to build a Java binary optimized for MacOS... or just a generic Java binary for any OS.I've actually gotten Sonic Worlds to run on the latest released version of the Java runtime, but alphatransparency support is very different (it has to be done from the graphic editor, not the object's properties). Because of this, things relying on transparency being controlled this way won't work (this breaks the title card and messes up shields), as well as any semitransparent ink effects (water appears as a big black square). Oh, and there's no OGG support. WAVs and MIDIs only, really.
  17. So uh, why are your "videos" just slideshows instead of, you know, actual video footage of the game? It's horribly misleading O_o So I tried out your game, here are my gripes about it: -Bad controls. I'm sorry, but there are people in this world that hate WASD controls. Please add the option for user configurable control setups, or better yet joypad suport! -Also, there are people that don't like mouselook. You know, like people that try to play your game on a laptop which has a trackpad instead of a mouse, leading to awkward camera controls... maybe WASD should be for the camera and the arrow keys for player control? -Sonic instantly dies upon touching water... I think I speak for many people here when I say this is one thing people hate about modern 3D Sonic games. Oh and it also doesn't help that i had to use the jump dash to get across a pit, only to instead homing attack the last badnik in a chain on another path, leading me to inevitable death. -I right-clicked:
  18. This is actually done in Sonic Worlds; it uses a timer-based value with a modulo to manually set what frame of animation is playing for all the ring objects.
  19. That problem usually solves itself *bricked*
  20. Yeah I do that so people can improve on their works. These comics are bad, and you can do better, so I pointed out the biggest flaws in hopes that you would fix them. Instead you took a "Holier than thou" stance and refused to make your work better. Summed up,
  21. Rather than bicker about RARs I took a chance and downloaded these... oh god, these are very, very bad. Very, VERY bad. 1) Lots of "effects" drawn in MSPaint. It really looks ameaturish and ugly. 2) Sprites have wildly varying styles. Stick to things in a consistent style. 3) No backgrounds! Sonic's adventures in blank white paper world? 4) The plot... dear god, the plot. It's a horrible mess. I can barely make any sense out of it. Not that I want to anyway. It's like: Knuckles presses a switch, everything blows up, the end. CHAPTER 2: Robotnik turns Knuckles to stone, turns Tails to stone, turns Amy and Cream to stone, brings in a freaking mob of ignored characters that keep blabbing, Sonic hits Robotnik, gets sent to Jazz Jackrabbit's world... then I stopped reading because this has just gotten silly. 5) Save your stuff in PNG format instead of BMP!
