  1. Megaten will probably rape him and steal his wallet. The main series anyways, Persona is more "casualized" and considerably easier. But the main series has a giant penis riding a golden chariot so ultimately it's up to him. Herotokami, I picked game choices that are really easy to obtain and play. X-Com is easily found on abandonware sites, runs like a charm in DOSBox. For Fallout and The Dig you'd need to get the CDs (either by legal means or torrenting the isos), but they're old and your PC surely can handle them. Use SCUMMVM for The Dig and while you're at it get some more Lucasarts adventures (Monkey Island, Indiana Jones and the motherfucking Fate of Atlantis, Loom). Only ZOE2 maybe a bit tricky to find, but that's not the case with Team Buddies or BoF3, both of which can be run on a PS1 emu, a real PS1, the PSP, a PS2 or a PS3.
  2. I bought it at launch, beat it once cheating because halfway through I was so insanely bored with it. Every set amount of time I decide to fire it up and give it another chance because it does sound like a great game, but I tire fast of the poor combat system, mindless chatter and lack of spectacularity. Usually I make it out to the town and lose all remaining motivation. And the interface is sooo clumbersome.
  3. Get an alt European account instead. If this gets pushed back for some reason, be aware that all demos in Qore are put for free on the PSN at a later date. But if the EU demo doesn't happen and you're still decided to get Qore, you both could set up a shared account and thus only have to pay half each. The Qore download is usually shareable.
  4. Fuck no, get Fallout instead. The difference between Baldur's Gate and Fallout is that Fallout is actually fun, while BG is only entertaining for nerds that get boners from dual-wielding emo drows. Skynet > every NPC in the BG series combined.
  5. Different strokes for different people, the important part is that you bothered playing it and formed an opinion. And do yourself a favor and try BoF3 if you have ever loved classic JRPGs. It's delicious.
  6. Adventure. If you've not played this please turn in your gamer license at the door. Turn Based Strategy. This and the sequel/expansion Terror From The Deep are the only strategy games that captivate my interest long enough not just to beat them, but to replay at least once a year. Years have passed since they released and still unmatched. WRPG. Probably the only western RPG that I enjoy. Do you want bullshit D&D dice throws, a generic shitty western fantasy setting, unsatisfying combat and a plethora of dialog to hide the lack of substance behind the characters? Then go play a Bioware game. Real men play Fallout. Action/Adventure. See: The Dig in this same post. Best giant robot game ever. Like MGS2, it has more plot than gameplay but oh god it's SO GOOD *harrypie.gif* Best party game ever. Be one of the twelve people that played this little gem and have fun while doing so. SRPG. Reason. JRPG. Another overlooked gem. The charming spritework holds up really well, all of the party members are different and loveable, upbeat soundtrack, best Dragon system in the series, interesting locales, long and filled with attention to detail. Get the PS1 version of BoF3 unless you can fix the PSP loadtimes on it. I picked that boxart because the original was terrible. All of these to begin with.
  7. That Mario level sucks. For starters, the creator should've only left the foreground track available. Then have it start at a more elevated point, to build underground sections too and make proper pipes that are actually functional. Goomba AI needs to be set to constantly on and not just react to proximity, and needs to have a hazard applied at the sides to be actually harmful. For Koopas he could've put an emitter that spawned a shell when the monster dies. To make destroyable blocks all it takes is to insert an explosive. Or use the dissolving material. Oh god why am I thinking of this I need to fix my own level not others'.
  8. Of course the Naruto game is good, it's being developed by CyberConnect2. They made SILENT BOMBER <3 Now if only Namco reused that graphical engine for a Klonoa 3, I'd be in heaven. LBP *is* the shit. I've spent like three days building this frustrating lulzy level that you need to complete in one go because it self destructs and if you die you'll respawn directly into fire. Also it took less than 24h for someone to make and upload a Rickroll stage. I'll see if I can score an extra code for the Beta for you guys. I'd share it, but it's account locked :/
  9. Added. What I ususally play online now on the console is WHD, the LBP Beta and MGO (comes with MGS4). Uncharted for the polished next gen experience. TPS/Adventure type of game. R&C Future if you've ever liked the PS2 games. NGSigma and DMC4 for the action fix. Siren: Blood Curse for probably the best horror game this generation. Which ain't saying much seeing how RE is now full fledged action and Konami is throwing Silent Hill down the drain :/ But it's good. Dead Space looks promising too. I've had a lot of recommendations for Burnout Paradise, but it's not my type of game. Bionic Commando: Rearmed is pretty damn awesome, showcasing how a retro revival has to be done. And doesn't have bullshit DLC either. Rock Band if you have the moneys. If EA wasn't trying to anal rape us Europeans I'd have bought it long ago and be playing online on a daily basis. Soul Calibur IV for the boobs and making Phoenix Wright on the character editor. Wipeout HD if you're into that sort of thCONTENDER ELIMINATED And well, I don't fucking know. I'm throwing suggestions at random. Why don't you just browse the Store and get demos? I recommend setting up two alternate accounts so you can have one in each region (EU/US/JP) to access the different stores, as some content differs. The Naruto demo is worth it alone to see next gen celshading done right. Start saving up for Valkyria and also buy Disgaea 3 and if you don't like them you can mail both to me :3 And for all that's holy, try to get into the LBP beta. It's amazing.
  10. NO. Horror First Person Hobo Killing Sim . It's good, but very short so be warned. I played Mass Effect and found it does have some sparse cool moments, but is overall boring, unpolished as fuck and ridden with unnecessary dialogue to cover the unexciting main quest that can be easily finished in less than 5 hours. Then again I've never liked Bioware games, no matter how much I try. Get some original Xbox games. PDOrta and Breakdown are probably better than anything else you can play on the 360. The BC site lists them at compatible but doesn't say how good is the emulation. You should try to hook it up to the router at least long enough to download some demos, really.
  11. Dead Rising EDIT: I wouldn't count Enchanted Arms as "worthwhile". Blue Dragon is decent, may be a better choice. And SNEAK KING
  12. Like they've needed excuses in all these past years ;P Also I love how the lighting system they've been pimping all the time is completely absent from the Wii version. Then again that version was being outsourced iirc so it's a different engine altogether probably.
  13. You're using realtime raytracing for the reflections, no? Have you tried messing with the attenuation properties of the material? And don't forget to enable supersampling when you're doing the production render. How long exactly does each image take to process? Just curious. Also if you've ever used photometrics with mental ray tell me how the fuck can you get shadows to appear because mines aren't working. EDIT: The Point/Linear/Area ones in Max, I mean. They don't cast light nor shadow unless I change the shadow color, in which case the shadows appear as if they were light emission. It's fucked up.
  14. They also made UT3 for every other system and Gears is still better (always from a technical perspective). It's not just the engine work, it's having a very clear platform choice and reworking everything from the very beginning to fully take advantage of it. Maximizing the strengths of the system and reducing/hiding the flaws, that kind of stuff.
  15. White Engine started life on PS3 when Kitase/Nomura decided the PS2 wasn't enough for them anymore. Square's looking to make a good part of it platform-agnostic (named Crystal Tools), altho optimizations will have to be done later on for each system because they can't fully convert everything. The most advanced version of the engine right now runs on PS3 hardware (well, the PC+devkits workshops thingamajigs they have set obviously), and I'd be willing to bet the 360/Wii/N-Gage/penis iterations haven't even reached a proper, stable status. Much less v1.0. The Versus team has been doing a lot of improvement on the PS3 specific side of things too, as they were intending to have their game running on a better version of the engine than FFXIII's. This has most certainly carried over to the latter's coding. Case in point: UE3 was specifically designed from the beginning to work fully on next gen systems, yet you'd be hard pressed to find a UE3 game that (technically) fares better than Gears of War. Because that game was tailored to a very specific platform and that heavily affected the development of the engine, in terms of programming and game design. And teh flashy grafix omg have become a staple of the series. It's not the selling point, but people are expecting it to wow. I know I am.
  16. I have yet to play a game where this "good/evil alignment changes based on your actions" feature is done properly. It always ends up as an annoying gimmick.
  17. V-Sync issues, framerate, AA, anisotropic filtering, resolution, HDR, shaders and loading times may be different to name a few. Or not. While I can't see the models and textures taking any hits, there's a lot of variables that could change for better or for worse. I don't want to sound like the port is going to suck ass - shitwaffles, it's within the realm of possibilities that it may end up even better (not probable but still possible). But you see, it's being devved specifically around a certain architecture and then, once the game's done, they'll figure a way to make it run on another environment. Ultimately it's up to how much time and effort Square wants to invest. It's been stated they aren't going to scale back or cut stuff to make the multiplatformness easier, so as a PS3 owner I'm not precisely worried :3 And don't trust any devs claiming version parity. Ever. No such thing.
  18. I think I'll end up using that video to get the spawning block patterns right when I play.
  19. Now that would redeem this entire game in my eyes. also nibelung valesti
  20. It's not coming to PC. At least for now. PS3 is lead. When it's done on PS3 they'll try and port down to 360 and then maybe Pc and cellphones especially cellphones because Square loves cellphones and is willing to put their best franchise ever on cellphones only so why not ffxiii too am i rite goddammit. Aya ;_;
  21. Everyone who didn't pick Robotnik failed HARD. Metal would also be accepted.
