There are people here who aren't?! Shit! And here I was thinking I was on some forum about making computer games about a woodland cartoon animal with a 'tude! I love the music. I'm a fan of the composer's work. This and Sigma Harmonics have really sick scores. The jazz/big band-y chocobo theme is tight, and the battle theme makes me happy in the pants. I'm knee deep in my senior thesis midterms right now, but spring break starts Friday, so I'm definitely sinking my teeth into it then.

Warm-up sketch before a storyboard session. I'll probably post some of the storyboards when I finish drafting out the whole book. Some are messy as hell, but a few of them have me really pumped to start digging my heels in and start drawing.

Sonic 4 is a video game. It will have Sonic in it. I hope it is not poop but I think it will be poop probably based on things what I know from reading the internet with my eyes in my head actually. My favorite thing about Sonic is that he is cool and runs fast. SONIC 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So supposedly they got the level designer from Sonic 3 working on this. Was tweening beyond their budget? And why is the game still in alpha if it's due this summer? And why are they going through all the trouble of recoding the gameplay engine (I'm guessing, since Sonic's kinda standing almost horizontally on a wall)? Are they just not allowed to take the old engine from every 2D Sonic ever? It's like they're reinventing the wheel, but fuck it octagons are cool you guys so let's use those instead.

I don't know anyone who actually enjoyed the Werehog levels. Sonic was a mixed bag. But even then, that game wasn't trying to be Sonic 4. "Sonic 4" is trying to be Sonic 4. And it is so totally fucked.

Sonic 4 is doomed to piss people off. Either it'll be a copy paste of Sonic 1 with ugly graphics, or it'll be fancy new aged shit in 2D. No one will ever be happy with this unless they strike some magical balance between new and old. They won't. Cause if they could, they would have a long time ago. And Sega's been striking out with their revivals (among a lot of other titles). Not saying it'll be bad. But there's just no way they're going to please everyone with this, unless the gameplay and level design was created by Jesus Christ himself, or if they went back and made it more classic.

Actually, there's a shitload of Mario ones on there. Some free, some $1. Why you'd want a soundboard on a phone, though, is beyond me.

Interesting food for thought: Nintendo is scared shitless to release Super Mario 4. New Mario Wii had four players. That'd have been a perfect name for it. But they're afraid of what kinda shit that would put them in. I'd do terrible things for a Sonic game like that. Sexual things.
