  1. Gonna take a short break from Chroma Corps, since I'm talking to a few different people about where I'm gonna go with this (professionally), where I'll be working within the next few months, etc. So until that's squared away, I'm gonna crank out a 5 page story over the next two weeks to keep me busy, and see if any anthologies will take it. This is the design sheet for the protagonist, Special Little Sister. I'm trying to go for a flat visual style for the story, though I don't think I hit my mark. EDIT: And it appears my monitor's fucked up, because the colors look differently on mine than everyone else's. Oi.
  2. Hey guys. Guys. Hey guys. Remember Luigi's Purple Coin Challenge? The one everyone complained about? It's back. Oh by the way, there are EXACTLY 100 coins now, 150 or however many there were. Oh, I forgot to mention, Cosmic Clones follow you the whole time, too. Nintendo heard your complaints, and they think you should go fuck yourselves. EDIT: Just got the first 120 stars. Just 120 more to go!
  3. I have fantastic news for you, then. Beating Bowser seems to unlock Luigi for all levels. There's a little place he hangs out at on the starship, south of where you start. I noticed there was an L in that area and that Luigi was gone. Then I realized it was an open door. Then I took Luigi to Stone Cyclone Galaxy and we never talked about that fucking level ever again.
  4. Admittedly, how you hurt him is pretty cool and doesn't really show up in other levels (you have to butt stomp these...I'll let you figure it out) but it does wear itself thin considering you have to do it three times just to start the fight, then 4 times during the actual fight, then repeat that whole process two more times. The little twist at the end of the final battle changes it up a little bit, but only for a few seconds, which is a shame, because there's so many good ideas in the levels that could have been implemented. Make me fight him with the Rock! Or the Drill! Or the Clouds! I FUCKING LOVE THOSE CLOUDS MARIO HAS THE CUTEST CLOUD HAT IT'S SO GREAT.
  5. Beat the final boss. Only required 70 stars, and I've been collecting lots of extras, so I figured I'd get it out of the way and unlock the S World. Still don't like how Bowser is repeated three times, but he's pretty hard this time a round, at least. Kinda. Actually the last fight has a fun little twist that I liked. Also, comets are permanent now, meaning you don't have to stop what you're doing and go get it. And each stage only has one comet, which I like. Interested to see what you get for collecting all the stars since Luigi's playable in some stages from the start.
  6. No, but if you squint at the game's logo long enough, the sparkles spell out GULLIBLE.
  7. And it's been reviewing like gangbusters. 9 perfect scores on Metacritic, and I think today was just the first day that the embargo went up.
  8. Got it the other day. This game is really great. A lot of people were worried that this was just the first game with more levels, but they really added a lot of new content here. No, the graphics aren't significantly better, but the game's still gorgeous, and the levels are great. There's a lot of creativity here, and the first game definitely had room for more (I love Splatter Matter and Dark Matter). Yoshi's pretty rad; his tongue can target three things at once and quickdraw them all one by one. Only complaint? Hub world isn't very charming. Silly, but not as fun. Oh, and lots of sky in this game, a lot less space and stars. Which is weird because it's supposed to be in space, but whatever. It's a fantastic game.
  9. You wanna know how to get your hands on a pair of daisy dukes? Whatever's your business, man.
  10. I haven't been posting much lately, not because I haven't been actively working, but because I've pretty much locked myself into my studio for the past four and a half months working on nothing but drawing, painting, and writing longwinded essays about nudists and BDSM and drug dealers. The less I talk about the latter, the better. Anywho, I've pretty much spent most of my time writing/drafting my first actual graphic novel for my senior thesis this semester. It was supposed to be around 60 pages, but due to four other classes plus my part time job eating up so much time, I only got 18 pages drawn (well, 75% drawn. I'm going to be refining them over the next month) so my project ended up being more of a pilot episode, which I've come to accept. There it is, sitting in the University Gallery. The gallery opening was last night, and we got a big turnout. I was pretty pumped to see all of my professors flipping through my books, and a few people even asked me to print and sell copies to them, which is really exciting, because the illustrations aren't even done! The critique also went really well, though a bit dramatic (in a good way, but I'll tell you guys about that stuff in another post, since this is bordering on Wall O' Text.) Oh right, the art. I'm not going to upload the whole book, just the pages that I feel highlight the book and where I'm trying to take it. Some pages are a little more finished than others, but had to be used anyways to meet the exhibit deadline. http://pheonixgamma.deviantart.com/art/Tentative-Chroma-Corps-Cover-164020281 (cover) http://pheonixgamma.deviantart.com/art/Chroma-Corps-Pg-3-164021923 (pg3) http://pheonixgamma.deviantart.com/art/Chroma-Corps-Pg-4-163665399 (pg4) http://pheonixgamma.deviantart.com/art/Chroma-Corps-Pg-12-13-163191725 (pg12-13) http://pheonixgamma.deviantart.com/art/Pgs-14-15-of-quot-Chroma-Corps-quot-163545651 (pg14-15) What I've learned: -You definitely want to write everything out in a text document first before you even consider drawing -storyboards take up way more time than you'll want them to, but are really, really important. Like, REALLY FUCKING important. -4 and a half months is not enough time to make a complete, 60+ page, full color, mini graphic novel while juggling four other classes and a part time job.
  11. Pages 14 and 15 of "Welcome to the Chroma Corps." I think this and the previous 2 pages are the most important in the book (or, the first part of it, anyways). The paint was really, really fun to draw, and my best friend gave me a "Holy SHIT" when he saw it, so I think I hit my mark on this one. Just need to touch up some stuff like the word bubbles. Nearing the end of the "pilot" book. I really wanted to tell the whole story for my thesis, but I greatly overestimated how long this would take.
  12. I don't know who Justin whatever is, but people tell me I should hate him. Also, he doesn't know what German is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkKqihEUmH4 Don't explain to me who he is. I cease to care after watching this.
  13. It doesn't look good enough for me to take seriously, or funny enough to laugh at. Plus, trying to turn Mega Man's fiction into a 90 minute film is like trying to turn coal into diamond with your asshole.
  14. I wish Felik's avatar wasn't a fish. Then I would tell Ligar he's bad at fishing. Confused, he would ask me what I'm talking about, and I would promptly tell him that he's bad at fishing for birthday wishes. Or something like that. I don't know. I haven't slept in days so that's probably funnier in my head. But you're right, I don't care. But if it matters that much what a block of text on the internet says, then HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANG HAVE A GOOD BIRTHDAY AND STUFF WHAT YOU DO ON YOUR BIRTHDAY ACTUALLY! HAVE A BEER AND SHIT. I can't wait to go to sleep tonight.
  15. Bumping this shit. Goldeneye meets miscellaneous rap songs. Shit's fucking rad. Plus I haven't heard that game's soundtrack in years. http://www.goldnfly.com/
  16. New York subways fucking blow. Which is odd, since navigating on foot is so easy. It's the opposite of Boston: abysmal street setup that makes no sense and is guaranteed to get to lost, but simple public transit.
  17. I went opening night. Dunno if that's when you were there. But yea, crowded as fucking fuck. Don't like the MoMA. Well, that and I don't like too much of the art there. The Whitney is really nice, though. Went to see the biennial. Not crowded at all, has a nice place to eat, and doesn't have art that involves two people staring at each other. (I swear, sometimes, I hate art...Oh, right! New York!) You get used to it. Which probably isn't a good thing... New York? Shady areas? Go on!
  18. Chealsea Galleries? I dunno. I went to NY for an art trip a few weeks ago, and we spent a good amount of time going through those. Oh! My professor pulled strings and got us into the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA. That was pretty cool. Also, Nintendo World. It's not nearly as big as I thought, but still really cool.
  19. They've released Flash games for Wiiware before, right? And wasn't there some kinda Flash converter thing that was supposed to come out awhile ago or some shit? I wonder if they could leapfrog from MMF2 to Flash to Wiiware... Alternatively, you could just reprogram the whole thing manually. Which wouldn't be hard so much as it would be tedious.
  20. WAIT. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT YOU'RE RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT.
