  1. Sadly my animation skills aren't up to scratch, so a static image will have to do. The basic idea was to fade the background in as black and white, have the parts of the title brought in and then have Sonic fly up from the bottom of the screen to land on the ground. Ah, the good old days...
  2. Visual Studio Express is free, and there's Visual Basic, C# and C++ versions that can be downloaded. There are loads of libraries available for creating games, so it;s really down to person preferene which you use. There's a list over at GameDev, although it looks a little outdated. There's also the Torque engine, which I hear is very good.
  3. Sonic 3 was so good that I made friends with the most boring person on Earth just so I could go to his house to play it.
  4. Why the PS2? WHY? Why not XBox Live Arcade or Virtual Console? Oh Sega, you make a grown man cry :'(
  5. I put on my robe and wizard hat.
  6. Yep. I have a feeling I'll still be working on it in another 10 years, but I do the odd bit of work every now and again.
  7. Phone: Nokia 6170 Ringtone: Pokemon Sapphire - Trainer Battle
  8. Planet Terror was completely over the top, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Everyone knows about the gun leg, but it also had cheesy characters and dialog that went well with the mood of the film. I thought Death Proof was utterly awful save for a few small bits. It's a shame really, because I thought the idea of a maniac in a death proof car could have been used much better. It wasn't as creative as Planet Terror, and I hated all the characters except Stunt Man Mike. The fake trailers were great too, but I wish there would have been more. It helped to break up the films though, and it didn't really feel like three hours of movie time.
  9. Happy late birthday And yes, you should have just peed in the bed. Everyone deserves to pee the bed through a hangover at least once in their life.
  10. I'm pretty sure it's being handled by Sonic Team instead of Prope, but we'll know more soon. I've wanted a NiGHTS sequel for years and years, and now one is coming I'm not sure how I feel. Perhaps if recent Sonic games hadn't been so lackluster I'd be more enthusiastic. Let's hope it's not an April Fool's joke, and that it's not going to completely suck.
  11. I vote for, but it would need a quite a bit of moderation to keep it useful. Not just for removing graffiti, but for keeping things organised in a useful way. There's not much point in having solutions to common problems if people can't reach it easily. I'd definitely contribute some stuff to it, and I'm sure lots of other people would help.
  12. I'm on Scthack's server every now and again, with a highly predictable character name. I've only just started playing, so I'm not particularly talented at the moment. Hopefully it won't take too long to start getting some decent stuff.
  13. Part of the fun of fan games is that you get to make games exactly how you want, so standardising Chao gardens wouldn't really work for most people. Of course, there could always be an import and export feature to convert to a standardised format that others could use. Possibly just a simple object definition with name, age, appearance and stats, with a section for "extended" stats that store extra details people may wish for.
  14. Considering the characters they play in Peep Show, it's a good match for the stereotype of PCs and Macs.
  15. What exactly are you looking for? Does it need to be custom coded, or would something like WordPress be ok?
  16. I miss school, especially physics. - Ty BSc
  17. I remember being stuck on the second boss of Marble Garden for ages. I didn't own a MegaDrive at the time, so I'd go to a friend's house to play it. It's one of my favourite zones, for the speed, the look and the music. Bring back 2D.
  18. I can think of several levels from the originals that had areas just for high speed. The ones that spring to mind are Chemical Plant, Marble Garden and Hydrocity, but I'm sure there are a few others. I always remember one of the great parts of Sonic 2 being trying to get Sonic to go so fast that the camera couldn't keep up with him. Part of what made the levels great was the balance between the high speed parts and the platformy/jumpy bits.
  19. It should have looked where it was going.
  20. I was hoping at least the Sonic levels would be worth playing, a bit like SA2 really. It's kind of sad that Sonic Adventure is nearly 8 years old and they've not managed to improve much besides the graphics. A lot of the gameplay elements seem like things they wanted to play with, but didn't dare use in another game. Makes me think that if they wanted to make Burning Rangers now, they'd just put firefighting in a Sonic game instead. Epon: Getting ready for my trip to the US in Feb, which should be entertaining to say the least, though sometimes I wish I had a girlfriend who lived just a tiny bit closer. I'm still listening to "The End Is Here" too. What an awesome album...
  21. I'm basing my opinion off the multitude of negative reviews, the videos/screens I've seen and the fact that Sonic Team lied when they said it would go "back to basics". I don't recall Shadow riding a jeep in the originals. I'm sure it's not as terrible as some people are saying, but I was really hoping for a lot more.
