  1. I think Wacky Workbench act 1 is most definitely the most annoying stage in any classic sonic game in existence. Sonic CD's tenancy to throw you backwards at blistering speeds in every level is just making me not even wanna keep playing.

If you play Wacky Workbench the way it's supposed to be played, it's, like, the easiest stage.

  2. I thought this topic was going to be about working too much and still enjoying games, because my current deal is that I'm really tired when I get home. I don't want to play anything. I just catch up on my DVR.

I haven't gotten anywhere in Skyward Sword. Shit takes too much effort after a 12-hour day. I have no desire to play it and that's sad, given my gaming history.

  3. More Casino shit. I'm still debating on the name Stardust Stadium though. It took me all day trying to figure out good combinations for the buildings, and now I gotta do level tiles. X(

Ah, yeah, a classic combo. I used these buildings in tandem back in '06 and then I changed them out for something else. The SCD Special Stage buildings were just too detailed compared to the rest of it. But, if you change the colors of them, it might work better.

  4. From my post at Sonic Retro/Sonic Stadium:

After years of wanting a Sonic community event here in the United States, we’re finally getting one with “Sonic Boom,” special treat for those in town during the E3 Expo in Los Angeles on the night of Wednesday, June 8th. We will be hanging out, playing some Sonic Generations and celebrating Sonic’s 20th anniversary. Best of all: this event is absolutely free.

Sonic Retro and Sonic Stadium, in cooperation with SEGA of America, have 2,000 seats to fill and we need our dedicated forum members to pack the house! This event will be big, so you’re going to need to reserve a spot. SEGA is currently letting 500 people RSVP to the event, but both Retro and Stadium have a specific allotment of passes, too, ensuring that everybody has a chance to go.

How can you go as a member of Sonic Retro or Sonic Stadium? Just e-mail me at slingerland AT sonicretro DOT org or bradflick AT sonicstadium DOT org and you will get a link to sign up through us. It’s that simple!

This event will be very exciting. Not only will you be able to play Sonic Generations without having to go to E3, but many recognizable community members will be in attendance! At this time, Chimpo, Gene and myself will be there, along with Jason and Nuckles87 from Sonic Stadium, but we will have some international flair with Dreadknux, T-Bird and The Taxman in the building!

So, come on, America! We’ve got community members from all over the world coming to this party. You don’t want to miss out! Tickets have only been available for a few minutes and they are going fast.

From SOA, the details of the event:

  5. I'm more of a night person anyway, since I work at noons and evenings. But I did stay up longer than I normally do. I guess expecting what they planned to deliver wasn't a good idea :). I just thought that sonicretro wasn't the place to go all sonic 4 with it's own community.

Pause. None of the admins at Retro knew this shit was going to happen. The S2HD team has been super secretive and withholding all information from the Retro administration, while simultaneously using the site for promotion and hosting. If any of us knew that shit was going to happen, it wouldn't have happened because what the team pulled was enormously shitty. How can you not tell anybody what's going on and mooch off their resources?

What I'm trying to say is that this botched hype campaign should not be reflected upon the administrators of Retro. It's the S2HD team's fault and theirs alone.

Sonic 2 HD: Replicates Sonic 2 and Sonic 4 PR! All in one magical project!

  6. I still only got a Wii.

Now that Nintendo regularly adds demos of great games to the WiiWare service, I've been dropping money like crazy on games like "Cave Story" (not shitting you, I've never played it before), "Jett Rocket," "ThruSpace," "Fluidity," "Bit.Trip Runner/Fate." The service is just brimming with top notch titles lately and I'm glad Nintendo is allowing people to try them out. I was afraid to drop cash on indie games until now. "Cave Story," as you know, is fucking fantastic, but other than that, I'm the most impressed with "Jett Rocket." It's a fun little platformer with beautiful graphics. I have no idea how they managed to fit that onto the WiiWare service. Check out the demo to see what I'm talking about. Also, a gatdamn dolphin in a helmet is your guide.

The retail releases haven't been slouching either. We all know about Colors, but I can't get enough of DKC:Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Mario Galaxy 2.

I'm so happy that I'm playing my Wii for things besides the homebrew channel again. My retro gaming needs are being satiated by the slew of releases this year and I really think Nintendo did a bang-up job during the second half of this year. It's weird, but because of motion-gaming and how stupid it has revealed itself to be, I've been craving simple, yet deep, experiences where I can just sit there with my Wii remote sideways and chill. This year, I've gotten all of that.
