  1. Everyone should be striving to make the game they want to create. I'm glad the community is evolving in such a way that people can make the games they want to make and not feel like they're bound to competing with one to make some huge game
  2. Thanks for the critique. Naoshi and Rael are having an in-depth discussion about this right now . As far as decorations go, there will be more. There was a flower in the old SSZ, I'm sure that will make a reappearance. We won't leave the levels feeling empty, don't worry Thanks ila <3. I'm glad to see you still are around .
  3. Clearly . I'm glad to see that some people remember the game, even after it's long hiatus. Once Blyde is a little less busy (soon, as he said ), we'll get some more work done on sprites. I'm looking forward to the hell that is MMF2's sprite importing :3 (j/k <3 u Blyde, update as much as you want).
  4. Thanks for the input . We will definitely revisit that loop.
  5. I have to say, that has to be the least helpful comment I've ever received. Care to elaborate? I'm especially curious because I really like the sprite and I feel like it was really well done. We obviously aren't closed off to constructive criticism, but that was anything but constructive. If you don't like the style that's one thing, but specifically what is wrong with it?
  6. I'll start out with the bad news. No, we haven't been working on Emerald Ties (ET) since 2008 secretly. The good news is that over the past month or so, the team has reconvened. For those who remember the game used to be called "Emerald Ties: Crossing Fates". We decided to shorten it to just "Emerald Ties". The original concept was there would be multiple installments, however as I'm sure many of you know, making games is no small task. The rest of the game itself remains very similar in concept. It still has the same story, more or less, as well as the free play and pseudo-competitive time attack modes. For those who have never played the old demo, the time attack mode allows for you to submit your times online to a leader board of sorts. We've been hard at work polishing up what we had back in 2008, which for those of you who remember was a decently polished demo that still needed some work. Outside of polishing the engine, physics, and graphics we've started work on more content. We've begun production of a new level as well as a revamp of the first level. We're working on some more things as well, but I'll save those details for later when we have more to show . For now, here's a little taste of what we have in the works right now (all subject to change/improvement, of course!). Title Menu Sparkling Seaside Zone Polar Peak Zone We will do our best to update this thread as we get more developed, so stay tuned!
  7. On a similar note, contrary to popular belief, I still am a mod (albeit I float around), so if you have an issue you can shoot me a PM. I will get it.
  8. Oh, and where was MY birthday thread? This is the worst community ever. I joke, of course . Love you guys.
  9. Skyward Sword is pretty amazing so far. I just did the first trial run through Faron Woods...I have to say, those guardians reallllly make me nervous. I know that's what they're meant to do, but seriously, I'm about to shit my pants when they're on my tail... Oh, yes, and hai SG . How's it going?
  10. Eminence, I'm pretty sure that motion blur was a sfghq tutorial, so you didn't steal anything from me . Anyway, you shouldn't need a topic on your birthday to validate your existence. if anything, it would only serve to further worsen the ego issue you seem to have. Enough flaming has gone on here. I'm locking this.
  11. Oh SG...how did you beat Skyward Sword 3 days before launch? Don't answer that . I'll be playing Skyward Sword once I get home from work today...picked up the package on my lunch from my apartment. I'm currently listening to the orchestra CD as pump up for later!
  12. I can't tell if this is an attempt at trolling or actually a serious topic. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're being serious. That being the case, maybe you should consider that people don't log onto SFGHQ every day and say "Hmm, who's birthday is it today?" I'm sorry, this is the Internet, you can't expect people to remember things that sometimes even real life friends wouldn't remember. I have friends that if I didn't say anything they wouldn't even realize it was my birthday. I'd never expect an online community to recognize my birthday. And to address the meat of your topic (which wasn't even your birthday, to boot), people have things called real life! Look at my signature. Do you remember that game? I was once more passionate about it than anything else, but over the years other things come up. Game development is nothing to scoff at. It takes a lot of time, energy, and dedication. For something that one does a hobby it's extremely demanding, so much so that most of us cannot possibly complete our games at the quality that we'd like them to be at. This was certainly the case for me, and I'm sure is the case for many others. Either way, happy birthday. For your birthday, I shall give you a chill pill. Go relax.
  13. The Gamespot Live E3 Tour just talked with the guys behind Sonic Generations. Once it loads, use the seek bar to go to 4:10:35 to watch the segment from the beginning. It runs until around 4:25:00. Make sure you're watching Day 2. Enjoy! http://e3.gamespot.com/live.html They showed off Green Hill Zone and City Escape remakes. Super Sonic was more-or-less confirmed in some fashion. Additionally, no "friends", just classic Sonic and modern Sonic confirmed. Lastly, no multiplayer on the TV consoles, but there will be multiplayer on the 3DS. Some more cool information is in the video, but I'll just let you all watch it for yourself. Definitely worth the view, I'm excited .
  14. Have a great birthday! Any awesome plans to celebrate?
  15. Don Chaotix, in the future, please check the date on the post you're responding to. DragonSky00 posted his question in October 2009. We try to to "necro-post" as it's called .
  16. There was always discussion of possibly moving it, and hey, it's been a few years, things change . Last SAGE we attended was in August, if I recall correctly.
  17. We shall see . Is SAGE still a summer event?
  18. Shh...there there. I brought you a special sausage roll cake, go nuts!
  19. Thanks to the few who've posted . Glad to see some familiar faces! Blyde, I will see you online later, I hope! Now I just need to find that Rael...where did he stumble off too?
  20. It's been awhile SFGHQ, how are you doing? Between short spurts of coming back to approve users and doing random moderation, I think I'm back for awhile now. For those of you who knew me/care feel free to read the below. For those of you who don't, here's the TLDR version: I'm back and starting to work on ETCF again (Emerald Ties: Crossing Fates, for those of you who never heard/played it). I'm not sure how many of you will remember me, but looking at some of the recent topics I'm recognizing some familiar faces. It's nice to see the community still alive and kicking . As to where I went...well, I had a lull in my desire to continue work in Sonic fan gaming a few years ago. Like many hobbies, some come and go with time given life circumstances. My transition to college in 2007 was very hard on me. For those of you who talked with me during these times I greatly appreciate your support. In short though, this was a major part of the reason I kind of slipped away a few years ago. I want to apologize to any and all of you who were really excited about ETCF a few years ago and were let down by its disappearance. I know the game had a small following in the community and there were quite a few people who invested significant amounts of time into the game. I don't want that to go to waste. I'm intending to start working on ETCF again. The rate in which I progress at this is somewhat up in the air. I hope I'll have something for you all to enjoy before I leave college and go work in the real world come this summer. Thanks for those of you who cared enough to read. I hope to bring you something to enjoy in the coming months, and I'm looking forward to reacquainting myself with the community.
  21. Happy 21st! I wonder what you might be doing tonight...
  22. I also miss Blyde : ((((((((. I miss Supachao...been a long time since I've seen him (among many others I also miss, of course).
  23. Do want moar! I can't wait to see more pictures of the other zones...I'm curious as to what themes we'll see make a comeback and what will be more original. I hope at some point they do a tribute to Doomsday Zone by the end of this episodic series...I remember how epic I felt playing that zone. oh, by the way, hai everyone!
  24. I've been playing in the closed betas on and off, pretty fun. I've preordered the CE edition as well, so I'll be in. Who else has been playing Guild Wars? After over four years of playing, I'm kind of getting tired of it...can't wait for Guild Wars 2...
  25. I need that memory erasing thing that they have in Men in Black. No soul should have to remember that game. But hey, you're the guy that got me started off, Andrew aka SoniChao/SuspendedChaos And yes, I do remember that. Quite a fun time it was
