  1. Apparently, doodling during finals downtime is my equivalent to getting hammered. GO HOME ZACH, YOU'RE DRUNK: And Jassbec, I've been saving all of the concept art you've been posting; they make for wonderful references when it comes to what direction we wanna' go in (still calling Cave Complex though, srsly). EDIT - And oh snap, I noticed you drew the Battlesnake idea I had. XD And Badnik Sonic is oddly adorable.
  2. Alrighty, tomorrow's my last day of high school forever and ever, so here is some Green Gate concepts I drew based on Jassbac's ideas: I'mma be more productive after this nightmare is over, I promise!
  3. Did this a while back after a chat with a friend on AIM. Spoilered in case you no dig nude sculptures. We'll just say it was a conversation involving original characters, Rob Leifeld, and 80's EXTREEEEEME.
  4. Sorry, it's just that sometimes even little topics like this seem to start shit-fests about gameplay and such; people can get pretty brutal about it. I suppose I can understand the basis of Adventure's speed, given how it relates to the principles of Classic Sonic designs (get good to go fast), but I think it would have worked out far better if controlling Sonic were a little...smoother. On that note, I always imagined Sonic having the option to slowly grind to a halt or perhaps grind and arc around and speed back up again. Or, ya' know, just fix the clunkiness of it.
  5. Alright folks, it's understandable that some people want Sonic to return to a more camera-controllable ease-of-navigation Sonic gameplay, but there's no need to start yet another argument on the topic (saying "yet another" because longtime Retro stalker). Honestly, there ARE aspects of the Adventure games gameplay I would like to see return (I do think that Sonic is considered slow by some nowadays because of it's contrast to Modern gameplay, and it did seem apparant to me playing it a few days ago) alongside Generation's gameplay, but it's too early to tell what kind of gameplay this new game is actually offering. I suppose I'm just attempting to play mediator and failing, but I suppose I'd like to hear more about theories toward what this game has to offer than to argue about gameplay speed/preferences and such. EDIT - Somewhat ninja'd by Overbound, but oh well.
  6. One of the things I'm hoping is that the signature geometric-style level aesthetics start to pop back up a bit (I'm somewhat vouching for this on account of the geometric planet we have here, even if some shout Galaxy), as well as more original badniks for each of the zones. Speaking of which, I'm eager to see what the gameplay is going to be like. Part of me wants to think they're coming up with an excuse to bring Wisps back, another is hoping that there isn't a main gameplay gimmick and more individual level gimmicks instead. I also hope branching paths show up like in Generations and the like! ...and now I wonder how the hell Eggman got out of the White World.
  7. Guys, guys, the REAL question we should be posing is "Who will be doing this game's soundtrack, and omg I can't wait to see". Also, YAY
  8. Haha, nice to see I've got a good reception. I've been trying to draw up ideas for Raindrop Ruins, though its been rather tricky; I keep going for a slightly Aquatic Ruin feel, but with more rain, jungles, and Native American-inspired architecture. Also, random wrecked ships for some reason. I also considered lending some creations intended for my own project for the stage, since it's been giving me a little trouble. ...also, Frozen Foliage needs to have this in an .
  9. I laughed my ass off at the "whatever" moniker. Also, pretty neat concepts! I like how inventive you're being with the roots, especially since the were originally one-off ideas. :3 Also, herp-derp-American-coverart-concept-sketch. Robotnik's hand is weird because 'MERICA.
  10. StarvingGecko here with even more conceptual goodness from today's sketching. Enjoy the fruit of my sketchy labors.
  11. Ohoho, that tree; it's based off of a tree I photographed at the St. Louis Botanic Gardens. If you would like, I can draw a larger version that would be easier to reference. I can draw up ideas for Acts 2 and 3 too. You said the former was in the forest and that latter...erm, I can't remember. That, and starting badniks.
  12. Speaking of which, have much to show from your front concerning these zones?
  13. Sounds good to me. I can get to work on badnik and tile ideas (I've actually sneaked a badnik for Frozen Foliage into an assignment, as well, and the new American-Sonic art is coming together well to add). (Also, after sobering up from last night's insomnia, I'm feelin' real iffy about that cutscene music still; I feel I could really do better. So now I've been lookin' back at some of the slightly simpler tunes of Sonic 1 and 4 to listen to how the tracks work with each other and such. As a result, it might be a while until Cave Complex music is worked on. Considering no work has been done on it though, all is well. )
  14. So, I totally wasted my sleep to make this a smidge better before remastering and such. You guys might dig the new part.
  15. Of course, that being said I would like to go back and reattempt an American-style cover for the game, much more accurate to the depiction of Ass-faced Sonic, even if coloring it will be a (lesson-teaching) pain in the ass.
  16. He's right, that's no good. ...sorry, the opportunity presented itself. :x The exciting wait continues! And now I wonder if Mighty plays any more roles in the game, aside from Foliage Furnace and the canceled race.
  17. Thankya'; I don't really think too much of it on account of the lack of variety in it, even if its just a loop; I either might go back in and mess with it again, or give people plenty of freedom when remastering it. And yesh, I figured it would be appropriate. Also, I might be posting less content for a little while on account of finals. :x
  18. Speaking of which, how is this? As far as "hiring" pixel artists, I figure that if that's the case, they might be more inclined to join up if we show that our game itself is progressing; it can be hard to convince people if your product is stagnant...though of course, nothing is stopping you from that now, just show them the thread, the music, the everything, lol. We can likely provide some assets of our own in the meantime, whether recycled or beta originals.
  19. Oh heck yes I am, even if my musical inexperience hampers me somewhat, lol. So yes, I'm selfishly harboring this zone for myself, lmao.
  20. Alright, due to some creative decisions on my part, my initial idea for Act 1 of Complex Caverns is being turned into cutscene music for the intro to the stage (which should be loopable for Jassbec's ease). Act 1 and 2 are now going to have some more tone differences and themes then I initially planned on, since the original theme didn't quite fit the Sonic vibe.
  21. Why is there no preview to play the music? And better yet, why does this download as a Windows Movie Maker Live file when I do download it?
  22. Oh yeah man, that would be sweet! Especially since MIDI files would clash with the more exuberant stuff . Need me to send you the MIDI files when they're done?
  23. Honestly, I think this is your best work so far. It really has that "Good Future" feel the Act implies. I'm still expecting Act 2 to have a Sky Troops reference however, haha. I'm actually getting somewhere with Cave Complex's music; I've had a crap-ton of ideas concerning the level layout, acts, and even boss, and I'm hoping this track conveys what I'm going for.
  24. Getting back into the saddle of working on tunes makes me realize how bloody hard it can be. I suppose that not having a firm grasp of musical know-how contributes to that, but bloody hell I'll learn it the hard way. (Working on Cave Complex MIDIS if you're wondering)
