  2. I for one find this insult-hurling squabbling hilarious to watch. But I digress. To be fair, I was born in '95, but played all of the original games on my parent's Genesis before getting to pick up games made around my time. I suppose I feel more nostalgic then old though. BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT OF THIS TOPIC. Rather, get a load of this.

  12. I'm guessing this means mini-bosses might make a comeback? I think it would be pretty cool if you certain paths might lead you into mini-boss battles like what seem to be presented here, if not simply ones you fight during the main act. Also, the game shows evidence that they're reusing Spinners, Motobugs, Choppers, Sandworm, Caterkiller, and that one snail thing, so does this mean we're just getting reused badniks, or are we getting new designs too? Also, I'm REALLY, REALLY excited to hear the music for this game. I can't wait!
  13. I'm essentially just using some beta tiles right now; I made 'em to evoke the tone of the level, mostly. I'm wanting to go for some slightly more "organic" tiles along the line. (You'll notice the mockup uses edited Mystic Cave bg and Green Hill waterfall tiles and such as well). I'm having a bitch of a time coming up with music for CC; I've already figured out how I want the music to go (Act 1 is a more atmosphereic DKC-esque song, while Act 2 is a more Sonic-fied version of said song), but no idea how to get started. IT IRKS ME.

  15. Hmmmm, why not mess around with some Caliente Carnival tiles? It's one level that is slightly more solid at the moment in my eyes, what with the carnival and western desert themes and such. Check out Jass's conceptual artwork for some ideas, as well as this little cactus design that can be expanded upon. I talked about orange and green colors similar to Wacky Workbench Past, though take that as you may. :B Sorry for scant resources on this, but I'd really like to see what ideas you could whip up for concerning tiles! EDIT - Oh, and symphonicgamescloud is remixing these tracks for Caliente Carnival, so these may provide inspiration...? THE ALMIGHTY REPOST
  16. I'm surprised I haven't been bricked yet for the above puns. In any case, Dessert Ruins Zone suggests that we'll still be getting mash up levels, thankfully. I have this feeling that Sweet Mountain's music is going to be referenced in its theme too.

  19. Honestly, I'm not sure how we could hide any Fepard influences with such a glaring title, lol. Glad to see you approve of our endeavors in the end. All great names! Heck Jass, we could always look back over all the Zone names and see if any need sprucing up like this one.

  21. Contrast seems to be an issue concerning some of our badnik sprites, especially with the Battlesnake and the Twitch-Switch. We'll have to find out how to remedy that in the future. In the meantime, we should focus on getting [beta] material out for Jass to implement and work with, and then figure out how we can fix it later on. Not saying we should half-ass everything of course, but we can't spend countless days (or more exaggaratedly, weeks) and such on a few assets. Also Jass, should we consider renaming Frozen Foliage? Perhaps Frozen Flora? Flurry Flora? Snowy Sprouts? Glacier Greenery?
  22. Yeah, someone noted that on Retro as well. I wonder how the Wisps will affect the gameplay this time around? Also, I'm having a hard time getting the "robot" vibe from the new badnik designs: I think I kinda' prefer Generation's designs in that regard. They made for a great contrast to Sonic and the animal friends and such.
  23. Truthfully, I was thinking of having YOU doing the refining later. You impressed me a ton with your spriting skills so far, so you seemed like the natural choice. :B As far as Caliente Carnival goes, I'd say go right ahead with stuff like that if you think you can handle it. As I've already demonstrated, I've got the utmost trust in your abilities.
  24. Haha, no biggie. One of my favorite things about this project is that it gives all of us amateurs a real workout - I haven't drawn at such a rate since I was in Jr. High! And my spriting abilities, while lackluster in my eyes, are hopefully getting better and better with each new sprite I deal with. As I've said, we're no shining jewels in the sanctity of the SFGHQ, but we're putting plenty of effort into it. This is something that won't please everybody in different aspects, but we do get experience out of it. @Alex - Alrighty, can't wait to see. Also, I'm thinking about asking Jass if we can have some of our more experienced team members go over some the assets way later into the project and refine them a bit to be a bit more coexistant with each other, if that's fine with everyone of course.
