  1. I've contacted you on Skype, and am awaiting a reply. Would be nice if you could message me on there so that we can get started with this.
  2. Actually, now that I look at it, I'm getting vibes from Shadow the Hedgehog as well. (That one level where you're in the computer with Espio. Not the level with Vector. I still get shudders every time I hear "Find the computer room")
  3. The link to the video is now up on YouTube. I'm the guy standing up at the beginning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtsGB1dqWY4
  4. All I can say is that screenshot reminds me of a level from Sonic Advance 2.
  5. I just saw the trailer for this, and I cannot wait for it to hit the Nintendo EShop. (Though strangely, the only footage I got to see was what looked like Scrooge's manor and the Transylvania stage. Can't wait to see what the Amazon and the Moon look like.)
  6. Okay, I just got permission from my other ensemble members to put the performance on YouTube, so it'll be up with a link sometime soon.
  7. Looking at it, I've got to say that what you do have left is pretty linear looking. While that would be good for a more center oriented path, you should add new sections that allow for exploration and reward you for doing so.
  8. My high school band went to a competition for solos and ensembles today. It's been an ongoing effort to practice for this, and it's paid off, believe me. Every person in our band that competed in this competition won a state medal. Out of the eight solos and ensembles that competed for us, only three received a 2, with the rest receiving a 1. ( In case you didn't know, the score goes from 1 to 4, 1 being the best and 4 being the worst.) My ensemble, a mixed brass that contained two trumpets, a trombone, and a tuba, was one of the lucky five that received a 1. We're going to state competition at Mizzou in Columbia, MO. I know it's kind of random and kind of self centered to post this, but I wanted to what the good news.with everyone.
  9. Look, level art is one of specialties. I'll help you out a little with the foreground art, but the bulk of your game will have to be done by you.
  10. Look, I'm usually too harsh. If you want a more sensible criticism, here it is: While the backdrop is somewhat fitting for the area cliche, the foreground sticks out like a sore thumb. Yeah, Labyrinth zone and HydroCity zone tiles work....to a point, Green Hill Zone just doesn't work. You want a sort of rocky texture for the terrain, or you could make it snow ash from the volcanoes in the vg and have it stain the grasses grey. Do something to convey the feeling that you are near a volcano.
  11. Final? I think not. You've got a LONG way to go before that even remotely looks aesthetically pleasing. While the main backdrop for the area looks nice enough, the foreground is nothing but a cluster-fuck of semi-edited Green Hill Zone and Labyrinth Zone tiles. (They're nothing more than straight re-colorings of GHZ and LZ with some edited totem poles and rocks. Why would you even use GHZ? It doesn't even fit the idea of a volcano-type level!) Hell the only original looking thing I can see in that image are the platforms, though I'm positive I've seen them somewhere before. On top of that, your Character sprites do not consistently retain the same style. While most seem to be edited from Sonic 2 to have the stature of Sonic 3's sprites, a few are just straight Sonic 3 sprites that have no editing. I assume they're going to be edited into the correct style later, though, so no real gripes. Other than that, the palette of Sonic is a little too bright. You might want to darken the blue on him a tad. Despite all of this though, there's something eerily familiar about all of this, but I can't put my finger on it. Have you posted anything about this game elsewhere?
  12. Anyhow, the reason my BG looks like Streets of Rage is because it IS Streets of Rage. The main BG is the backdrop from the SoR title crawl, the star-field is from Stardust Speedway's Good Future and Star Light Zone, and the bottom of the image was part of the Spring Yard Zone's BG spliced with Stardust Speedway Good Future)
  13. Well to be fair, your Sonic isn't half as derpy as DDS. (It's all in the position of the eyes.) I mean, it's still pretty badass looking.
  14. I think it's the pose that gives the impression. (Come to think of it, it bears a somewhat striking resemblance to down-syndrome Sonic.)
  15. Likewise, I like how your title screen shows (from what I assume) both sides of the time line set in your game. It also gives me a Sonic 3 feeling for some reason, though I guess it's the giant ring.
  16. Got the BG for my city level finished. Since I'm theming all the zone names around various jewels, I'm going to go with "Sapphire City" for the name.
  17. Guy, it's okay to use whatever type of animation you feel like, be it comic panels or animation. (I just happen to have an inferiority complex.) On another note, I'm making a city level ATM, here's what I plan to use as a graphic for one of the billboards in the background.
  18. Whilst working on the intro cutscene to Epsilon, I was going to go for a sprite based animation, but I changed it to semi-animated comic panels once I saw BTS and ATS. (I felt that my animations were not as good or original.) Mine sort of slide into the frame as a greyscale image, and then colorize and animate, showing the action depicted in the panel.
  19. Okay, so back on topic here, I've got two things to say: @Bosco: I really like the way your screenshots are turning out. The forest looking area has a very beautifully creepy atmosphere to it, and the ice covered city looking area gives me an unsettlingly calm feeling. @MrPoetatoebadger: You don't have to change any of the background parts themselves. I mean, it's good to work with what you have. (Especially without internet access.) What I was suggesting was changing the colors a tad. For example: This is your original picture. I took that and brightened up the FG art a bit, then I saturated the buildings to be a bit more washed out, along with turning off the neon lights. (Because who turns the gigantic sky lights on in the day time when everyone can see them already? The result was this: While black is still being used in this example, you may want to wash out the black color to be more of a darkish blue color or a grey rather than stark black.
  20. I gotta say that I love the lampposts on the first shot and the second shot is absolutely GORGEOUS.
  21. Woo, now we're getting somewhere! I like the title card, but I think the lives icon looked better as it was. The background's sky doesn't really match the foreground or the background's buildings. They all have a pallet that's set up for a night-time setting, not a day-time setting. My suggestion would be to either change the color of the buildings or lighten them up a bit, and then brighten up the foreground artwork to suit the day-time setting. (Or you could just set the level at night-time.)
  22. Okay, there's only one way to sort this out now: Fan game mud wrestling.
  23. Well I'm trying to add a sort of in-game manual, as in a literal in-game manual with its own cover artwork, information on the pages, and advertisement on the back. I'm having some problems with the coding on it, so I'll post the results once I get it fixed. (Like I said, not terribly interesting, but it's something.)
  24. Hey bro, it's all good. I was kind of being a dick at the time. I've got something I'm planning on showing soon, though I think it's far from spectacular.
  25. Right. The first part of your post should really be in its own topic. No sense in giving only descriptions in a thread that's specifically meant for screenshots. Even if it was to be in its own topic though, you couldn't get by on text alone, you'd still have to provide some screenshots or something. I understand the desire to post information about your game, but information alone isn't really enough. (Which is why you don't see a topic for my particular project.)
