That's hard to say, because both uses different basis for the making.
I wouldn't prefer a side here, actually. The only truth to me is that, as of late, fans have been better off making Sonic games than SEGA themselves. LakeFeperd with his fan games, Tiddles at Retro with his Sonic 3 Complete hack, those guys make me kinda proud of knowing that at least the Sonic fanbase still has something going on.

I've never played the original Stunt Race, but the game looks quite interesting, Lake.

I was wondering if there isn't someone around here able to help you. I would if I knew how to program, y'know.
Estava me perguntando se não tem alguém aqui capaz de te ajudar. Eu até ajudaria se eu soubesse programar.

I'll do this in portuguese, so you get more comfortable with the conversation.

Thanks for giving us signs of life. We needed it XD

I was seeing the Freedom Planet video on Steam. So, it seems that its franticness has gotten me.
For what I've seen, the game presents some action frenzy that even Sonic on the Genesis wouldn't be capable of.
So, let me say that I am impressed at what this game is and I am rooting for its success.

Got a new test on it, TailsSena.
First, there have been BIG improvements on physics! The jump is on the right timing. Still, it seems that inertia physics are something amiss. When you run up a wall and jump, Sonic jump straight away from the wall, losing the momentum he had instead of having height boosted by the ascending.
Spin Dash didn't seem so powerful as people say, and I've also tested the rolling physics (that seems to work, although I didn't find a slope good enough to test it for real.
As for speed, the inertia works, and way too much XD, It's hard to stop Sonic when you get him really running. But the speed and inertia are quite OK.
Also, the game become pretty light to work, I liked that.
You got a good going this time, TailsSena, keep improving!

What's up, man? Yeah, we can do that^^ Interested in testing a boss battle build?
I'm trying to recreate the Sonic 2 final boss battle, but with the S&K sprite set. So far he's able to walk, look directly at the player and step up and down platforms. I want to improve him a bit more before I make the build, but here are some pics for now.

Way to go. The first Mechazilla Robotnik boss in history.
FUCKING AWESOME, I WANT TO FIGHT THAT THING.

Oh guys, thanks for the ROFL here.
I think he was meant to say "I shat bricks" or something like that XD
Anyways, I am loving what I'm seeing here. Way great fangame we're about to have.

From my first tests so far, I can say that I'm quite impressed. You know, after some experience with Sonic Advance: Worlds demo (and its weak physics), I was pretty convinced that Advance-based fangames could be hard to do.
Well, today I've seen two great examples: the engine test for Sonic Infinite, and your tech demo, that I've been looking forward since I saw the video on Youtube.
Shadow's skills are great, but he gets kinda stuck when you use the Action 1 on ground, forcing you to change characters to regain control. By his pose, I think he uses Chaos Control with an emerald, am I correct?

Well, I've taken my first test on this and I have something to say.
First, I'm glad this is not another Sonic Advanced graphic-based game with some crappy physics, it works pretty much fine. But you should put the jump button out of the Shift key, you know. Some options on Windows are accessed by pressing Shift five times, it makes some anticlimax when you're on some big section.
The 2D recreation of Emerald Coast Act 1 is pretty good, too. And Sonic rushes like a bullet, meaning that his speed is quite good, too. But take this as a note: you need to tweak the Jumpdash/Homing Attack a bit. You know, the Jumpdash is still a little weak. About homing Attack, I thought I have seen only one part where I had to really use it, near the end of the act.
Edit: I forgot to mention about a spring on the start of the act, it launches you only to a small line of rings. Sonic won't get launched pretty well unless you hold the jump button. Was it intended to happen?
Well, for an engine test, you did quite good for a first strike. Keep going, pal!

Graphics are good, but it needs some polish, true. But what Sonic could do out there in the videos is quite a feat.
And that magnetic shield was quite a bang. New shield ideas are quite rare where I came from.
Keep up the job, man. Your idea is pretty good.

Whoa! Survival mode without recharge! I like it. Specially because Non-Stop is kinda Sonic's style.

Seems like Marble Garden wants your blood. XD
I'll wait a little longer, then I'll make a test out of the full job.
At least a Genesis emulator is something my machine can run.
