  1. That looks really neat and all but the only thing I'm having trouble seeing is the mustache pieces on that Dr. Eggman thing. I can tell it's a mustache but it doesn't really look all that convincing. Looks too long and looks as if it belongs to the Klonoa character.

By the way, I like that indie games website a lot.

  2. Here's a mock up just showing off some of the pixel art from Time Twisted.

Very impressive, Overbound. It's very 32X-y. A problem I see though is the tile set to the left doesn't seem to have much of a curve to it. It looks rather flat. Something else I've noticed is Metal doesn't seem to have a hand but it may be blending in too much with the trunk of the tree.

Looks really nice all in all and I'm excited for it.

    Oh my god!

    A prayer has been heard.

I enjoyed the shit out of Doom 3 as well as it's pixelated predecessors.

It's great to hear that this will mark the first time Doom/Ultimate Doom and Doom II will be hitting the Playstation 3.

This will also mark the first time I will be able to try RoE.

Me personally, I found Doom 3 to be one of the best games on the Xbox right next to the Conker's Bad Fur Day remake and Halo 2 (the only title in the series I enjoyed).

All this might not sound like groovy news to you but to me this is gold mainly because with the exception of the Alien/AvP series, Doom and it's sequels are the only FPS I find favorable.

  4. Problems I have.

The palm tree leaves look like flat, paper with a bunch of color in them and don't match the shading style on the trunk, which is from what I see another piece from Ristar.

With the exception of the Chaotix Caterkiller no enemy fits the zone theme at all.

Nothing in the city zone matches and looks cheaply put together.

The Planet Freon tile set, again.

The rock backgrounds for the first two zones look way too similar.

The rock background for the desert looks all weird with its design just cutting off into blank color.

Too many zone names have the letter "S".

The level themes themselves are too cliche.

    Sorry...

    Things I don't have a problem with.

Tropical Island as the first level.

    To me it's all good.

    The HUD.

I have no problem with it.

  5. A few days ago I went up to my local record exchange store and found a Blu-ray copy of Street Kings for 5 bucks.

I don't really remember hearing about a theatrical release but hey.

The whole thing really made me think of Brooklyn's Finest in some odd way.

All in all the only problem I had with it was the Game's piece was not very convincing compared to his story telling in his albums.

(Although it was funny to see him put some kind of malt liquor in his cereal.)

That's all, I'm not really good at reviewing movies.

  6. Mighty fine work there, Lake. ^_^ I like how the red pipe weaves into the corkscrew path.

    Moo.

    Moo right back at ya.

    Very Nights-ish.

    I like it.

Don't change a thing except for when the main game comes out take out the word "demo".

I also just noticed how the curve of the letter P sorts in with the planet like object in the font to make a Saturn like planet.

    Very distinguishing.

  7. Flipping through these can make one start playing space ship shooter games.

I enjoy a lot of scrolling shooters centered around cosmic war for that very reason.

Galactic Attack would probably be one of them, though only for the first two levels does it take place in space.

Fortunately there are a lot available, mostly imports, for the Sega Saturn and PSX.

Quite perfect for those systems as they're capable of more colors for better backgrounds and effects.

Some of the more obscure and underrated shooters for the PSX like Jupiter Strike and Novastorm are more good examples.

  8. There... There aren't any links here! I don't know what to follow! It's pandemonium!

It's kind of hard to link pictures from a book.

But here are a few links to some of the books that are still out there for sale and well worth the time and money.

Though this one isn't a hard cover it's probably the best out there.

Some minor examples of the beauty you will find.

    That last one was astounding.

Makes you start to realize that even though you'll be dead and most likely forgotten by Earth's society it will be probable we will be able to travel farther than what the Hubble can see.

  9. Anyone else find these just absolutely fascinating?

Probably the most gorgeous pieces of natural art there are can be seen in these 300 or so page books.

I have been quite the collector of these since I was in elementary school, which was way back in the day like 1990's.

You can find them in all sorts of page sizes too.

These photographs from the Hubble Telescope can make my mind wander farther than I could ever imagine.

Does anyone else feel this way all in the same?

It doesn't necessarily have to be these books but they are the only place where you can find excellent quality samples of the cosmos.

  10. And speaking of buildings.

I doodled this and am willing to produce a level built just off of this building idea in which the level itself is already set in stone.

    Check it, son.

    HHZbuildings.png

This is an example of something based on neon lights covering the tops of buildings as seen in downtown Cleveland and Akron.

It was a little rushed but who's judging.

The main idea is neon lights lying on the corners of the buildings.

Another idea is to make it a window paneled structure which will look quite nifty in a night time level.

Believe it or not, I did try to do something of a neon-ish Nakatomi building but it didn't turn out good.

Basically because there are no/no good side shots of the tower in the movie to get an idea of looks.

  11. I do have a morbid curiosity now. If the game is still in stock when my tax return arrives, I will buy it.

Trust me when I say it should be plenty in stock.

And it's just the first print that's going expensive which I'm not sure why people are that ignorant.

    Video games aren't collectors items.

    They're for playing.

No one's going to pay $300 because that's unheard of.

I have the first run that came with the Mega CD disc but have never used it because I don't own a Sega CD.

The first print should only be going for how much it was originally intended to be sold at.
