  1. @Strife

    thanks =)

    @Delta Hedgehog

    pretty much all Duckboy said

there is a lot of parallax objects there making a pretty good effect in motion

    @Duckboy

nop, that's why i said it needs more polish

    @Jwiwo

i think the colors are pretty much alright the way i've tweaked them

i dont know if there is need to change it

    btw, i never played mirror's edge D=

Lol, well you could look at this picture for a little clarification(and maybe for some inspiration)

    mirrors_edge_2.jpg

I was mainly talking about the blue buildings in the bg. Maybe if the blue was a bit more light/subtle, it wouldnt clash so much with the other colors? Uhh, well I dont know tbh :P. Try it out if nescesary ^^

  2. Hey like, nice screenshot.

My suggestion would be to change the buildings into white instead of the blue. Kind of similar to mirror's edge with its white and reddish designed buildings. But uhh, I dont know the whole stage so i wouldnt know if the white/greyish buildings would clash with other stuff.

However maybe you could adjust the blue into some softer/lighter blue

  3. I think it's better you make your own decisions and sometimes reject certain feedback lake. Look at all the guys who take every feedback and critisism so seriously, trying to fix and end up getting demotivated and not finish their games. And you know, how well someone may be at designing fangames, doesn't mean they're always right imo. It's good that you are principled and well opinionated about certain elements. Don't change because if you ask me, you made the best and most polished "finished" fangame ever.

I gotta be honest that i'm still not sure about the sprite though. It looked really nice in action, but on static screenshots it still looks a bit strange. After a certain time of playing around with the new sprites, what do you think yourself?

  4. Well it's starting to look better. The direction ain't bad it seems so I take back about "overhauling" it with a whole new take. The sprites just needs some kind of polish. With the sprites well shaded like that, the eyes just look a bit flat? I dunno but something's just a little off so I hope this will be figured out eventually. You'll always get my full support Lake. I love your work. It's filled with passion

  5. This is really good. I am running this on a pretty good computer so i dont know if its nescesary for me to share but I will anyway.

AMD phenom II x6 3.2 GHZ

    ATI radeon HD 6870

    6GB ram

    60 fps at full settings

So I am well informed about you taking over the programming role for sonic fan remix, and I gotta say that this engine test controls slightly off compared to it. Sonic fan remix controlled almost exactly like the classics while this seems a bit off. To be more specific, the thing that was most noticable was the air control. It is not so hard to change directions in the classics but here it takes time before he stops and go the other way(from running not rolling). There is probably more, but I don't consider myself a pro in technicalities like this, while you are the one that builds an engine like this, so I think you're probably aware

Lol well... this may come off as a negative post, but i'm actually really positive about the engine. great job damizean

  6. I do believe that the world is controllerd by higher ups, but that's a totally different subject.

I am indifferent when it comes to all these conspiracy theories. You cannot say that they're all bullshit. I say judge everything by their own merits. One thing can sound like bs, but something else could perhaps make alot of sense

I for one think that the US music industry is really messed up. Women like lady gaga are treaten as gods when they ought to be seen as the lowest kind of species walking on the planet imo. I live in the netherlands and I cant imagine anyone encouraging such scandalous behaviour. But I think the higher ups(Illuminati or whatever you wanna call it) have found that music is a great way to let things look normal and influence the norms with it. As long the songs are good, people will watch and listen. People aren't literally controlled by force, but rather mentally. I think you could call it mental slavery?

America has gone messed up if you ask me. I may be exagurating a little bit as i'm viewing this as someone who's never visited the US. People at the US are probably living good lives etcetera. But i'd be a bit disgusted living on the soil of such a country. A country where the rich are benefitting from the poor people's failures. A country where facts are manipulated as lies and lies manipulated to be the facts.

I've been following the republican elections lately and i'm a great supporter of Ron Paul. He is probably the only person who's sober on these matters and goes against them. It is so clear how all these rich people benefitting from the broken system now, are frightened if he would take over control. He's not doing so bad and became second in new hampshire, yet they're just talking about the guys who came in first and third. All of a sudden the second place doesn't matter lol. But I think it's self-explanatory that the media is controlled. All these statements that are not based around facts, made by "journalists". The media has made you all frightened for Iran. But honestly people are just being short minded and forget to view this from their perspective. The whole world has nuclear bombs. Someone who'd tell me to not make one ought to only encourage me to do so. Who the hell are you to command and disrespect me in such a way. Yes nuclear bombs are awful, but it seems that rule only applies to some countries

Anyway, here an interesting clip of Ron Paul that has predicted everything that has happened for the last 10 years.

  7. Sonic 4 episode 2's logo is reveiled

    6668027871_24a9e27ac0.jpg

So what can be drawn out of this is?

-That it looks similar to the sonic 2 poses, and....

    cheapreusede1pose.png

That it's fucking lazy. Did they really just move sonic's arms and call it a day? I know it's only a logo but what kind of impression should I take of this? I kind of don't wanna base so much off of a logo, but it's not really giving a good impression of how seriously they're taking this.

  8. I liked the demo. A great improvement in quality from sbts. You were right about the art, it looks much better in motion(yes i'm always lurking :P). You also improved in level design and it seems i've been surprised again in act 3.

I like the electric shield. I was surprised how you implemented the shields in different ways. Bubble similar to sbts, but the electrics move I thought awesome when finding out how high it could bounce you of of items and badniks. I found it weird why spikes didnt effect the electric shield though.

I remember sbts's first few levels were pretty basic, but they got better from there. If this is the first level in sonic after the sequel, i can only imagine how much better this game could become.

I've really grown to the way you design your levels. I also like your badnik designs alot and the way you use them too.

  9. I think having it taking a bit longer to time travel has it's pros. I mean sometimes i'd have too little time to stop myself from unintentionally timetravling. That never happens now.

A smart way to timetravel is to spindash and jump onto a spring and keep bumping yourself again and again. When I figured this out a big issue was thrown out of the way for me, especially in quardz quadrent act 1. I really had trouble to timetravel before figuring this out. Also when a spring is placed next to a wall, you have to prevent urself from touching it or else it'll kill the travel.

just pointing it out there.. ^^

  10. I agree with the above. I disliked sonic CD, but taxman's improvements on the physics, camera and spindash have taken all that dislike away. I enjoy it almost more than the genesis titles. What holds it back is the level design. I mean yeah when exploring the longelivity increases. But when you just go to the finish like any other ordinary sonic, every stage feels too simple and takes only around 1 minute... except for the final stage.

I would say if the complexity of the level design was kept, with added length and maybe 1 more zone, i'd prefer sonic CD over 2 and 3 (not 3k together)

  11. Well, I finally managed to get it under 4 minutes. The trick is to get around 15 seconds for the first 2/3 special stages. That may sound hard, but since their so easy, you can destroy them all in a row with some practice and knowing the patern.

The last 4 are a bitch but I'd recommend finishing them around 46 to 48 seconds.

  12. Wow.. Getting 5 minutes was allready hard as fuck.

Thanks for that list. I wonder why they couldnt have explqined it one way or another inside the game itself. How will the average person know this or even find it out? While very true to the original, i consider it as a flaw. The average person wont be able tO get everything out of the game....

4 minutes, my god lol. Well im up for it.. later

  13. So there are a few unlockables in this game. Anyone know the exact proces you have to go through to get all the extra's ?

I know of a few like:

having to finish all the stages in time attack to unlock special stage time attack.

Finishing all the stages in time attack below the total of 25 minutes, unlocking somethign as well though I cant remember which one of them it was.

Finishing all the special stage time attacks below the total of 5 minutes unlocking one of the things.

At retro taxman hinted something that had to be done with the numbers 32 and 8. What do you do with them ?

  14. I just finished the game, and got the bad ending as well. It's not so much that I am a bad player. I just liked exploring you're massivly well built stages. Lives were needed and it's funny how every time i stopped to explore a certain route, there would be a live monitor there.

Anyway so what did I think of the full game?

    ---

Warning! MAJOR wall of text ahead:icon_redface:

    Kaboom!!

It was excellent ;). Best fan game I have ever played hands down. Your game is so full of ideas.

Every act felt unique from the other. Even the friggin special stages lol.

I expected the special stages to be like basic run and jump collecting rings, but I got caught off guard every time a new gimmick was introduced.

For example in tails' special stage with the clouds. I was first like, wait tails can fly why would I need those?

And then all of a sudden it was cloud mania lol. Clouds everywhere actually HINDERING my way lol.

Your game is full of those kind of surprises. The stages are built with care and full of ideas man.

Those balls from a yoshi game turning the game into a crystal meth trip made me lol really hard. At the same time made me really dizzy haha, but really awesome.

The game is massive so I can't remember everything but it makes me wish sonic games were usually this massive without any fillers.

This was a 3 hours long trip for me and it was great. I reckon that I have to finish the game again now for the real ending?(please answer this because I dont know wether there is a level selection or not)

Even so, i would love to. I would be happy if the game forced and gave me a reason to go through it again because i'd love to.

Another that surprised me was that you had changed the mystic cave(2 player) winter music.

I didn't expect it at first because it looked like not alot had changed in the game, but I am really happy you took the feedback and changed it. It sounded a million times better.

Again the special stages ended up being a great addition. Lives were essential for me because the bosses are challenging.

A few of my complaints are that the first few levels aren't so well designed as the later levels.

A bit too basic and feel more like plain fields mostly(without the ideas you implemented in later stages).

I understand that the first 2 levels should be that way.

It doesn't matter so much actually since the game has 10 zones compared to what we're used to, but I think a game should start good to grab and keep the player interested.

I started the game yesterday and stopped after beating the seconds zone. It didn't grab me untill the 3rd/4rth.

Since your game is so great and polished, I think the game would really deserve a visual upgrade if you ever felt like perfectioning your game.

I don't mean anything with this as I understand this is mostly a project of your own.

Comparing it to other fangames that put emphasis on visuals and never get done.

I think it doesn't matter so much, but it just crossed my mind a couple of times, especially since I had been playing the new sonic CD remake.

The contrast of colors you use are sometimes a bit too similar. I noticed the color blue being used alot in your game.

I just think the game deserves it because this is not just an ordinary game to me. And it neither should be to you. I'd be really proud about what you have delivered.

It's not every day you see a fangame that is so well designed full of great ideas. (I reckon You must play alot of good games to draw inspiration from ;) )

The water level with tails felt like a mess a bit. I think that had mostly to do with that the stage didn't really have a direction.

It was the water stage with those pullies that would launch you up when holding on them for a few seconds.

I didn't like this stage very much. Most stages in your game have like a flow and change the pace with some variation that challenges you, making the environment distinct from the whole stage.

That way the stage made themselves familiar.

It's like how you used those circling tubes in the sonic water level where you had to get your way up.

That was also really cleverly designed and it required a bit of puzzling.

Everytime I encounter this place, I will always think: "Okay so now i'm here" hence recognize what I can find around me. In that tails' water level that was never the case.

I felt this was the only real dissapointing level in the game, but as any level, it was made up with a fun boss battle.

The bosses: I don't hate chase bosses, but as I had stated a long time ago, too much of them can make it feel a bit repetitive.

The bosses were still great nonetheless. Again full of great ideas. I personally liked the boat boss, but that was especially

    .

Final gripe. The tails boss at the cloud level was really too easy for me. This was a little dissapointing close to the ending.

I would suggest making the bird carrying tails move a little bit slower, similar to sonic 3's marble garden's boss but maybe a little bit faster if you think that keeps up the pace.

But I think the bird being so fast makes the rockets that are being thrown at you not very harmful.

Anyway I wanna close by saying that the final levels are amazingly well made. Best levels in the game and that is exactly how it should be.

The final stages should always be at the highest possible peak of the experience imo, and the way it was built was really thrilling and fun.

The gimmick of the red and green aura (I think the green made you floaty and the red made you heavy as a brick) was another well implemented idea.

Rings were sometimes so hard to find and i'd sometimes just see "1" ring after traveling great distances. Lol 1 ring... wow.

That's torture, but awesome nonetheless. It kept me on my toes and I loved it.

In my whole playthrough I have encountered no glitches or bugs. None at all so i'm impressed you did that mostly all on your own.

The music throughout your whole game was amazing. I hope you don't mind if I ask, but could you make a list of soundtracks you used?

Some sounded so very familiar and nostalgic to me, but I couldn't put my finger on where I knew them from. I'd apreciate it alot.

Thanks for this awesome game. I would like to thank you as well for putting me on the special thanks. You don't know much that means to me, even if I didn't do much
