  1. Wow, that's even more surprising. I'll be honest, I do tend to disappear from time to time because there's other things I have to catch up with, but most of the time I just lurk around on the forums. Well if you ever consider again about making me a mod, I'll be willing to devote more time to the forums if you need me to.
  2. Potatobadger is a moderator?! I never expected that to happen.
  3. Can't wait to see it dude! I hope it shows up in your thread soon haha Alright so this BID thing is actually really awesome (warning somewhat big image):
  4. So I just tried that and it made all these slopes with the snow. Holy crap this is awesome. Thank you very much Jassbec I'd like to see this sometime in the future!
  5. Are there any tutorials on the net to show me how to use this? ._. I've never used this thing before.
  6. Isn't Photoshop expensive or something? If it costs a good amount of money there's probably a good reason why I don't have it lol. I noticed these kinds of slopes were in games like Sonic ATS, reminds me of Horizon Heights and its speedy pathways. If you don't mind me asking, what is BID exactly? :b
  7. Holy moly how did you do that? Well thank you anyways haha I should probably make some general collision masks with these sprites too for use in later levels if they have slopes like this.
  8. No I don't own any copy of any good image editor actually haha. Graphics have never really been a good skill of mine, I usually just let Delta do all the visual stuff. I added in ground tiles in case you needed them: If you could make some slopes that'd be great
  9. I remember a while ago in the old Edge of Darkness thread things got pretty messy between Delta, Blazefire, and maybe someone else. Can't remember.
  10. Are you talking about the screenshots of the game's Felik posted? Haven't heard news from those games in ages.
  11. Awesome! I had to darken it a little further because it kinda looked too similar to the foreground in terms of colors: Hopefully this doesn't look too ridiculous. Thank you guys for your help!
  12. Alright so I tried using Game Maker's built-in editor this time around, and I got this: Do I finally have it? Or does it need more detail reduction/darker colors?
  13. Alright so to reduce the detail just combine colors that are similar to each other? And I'll try again but use darker colors. What program do you suggest I do this in? Or is Paint fine?
  14. Okay so I tried out your suggestion and downgraded the pallet & toned down the detail in the tile: It looks like complete ass because I only spent like 10 minutes on it and used Paint to do it because I don't know how to use other programs like GIMP and stuff. But am I on the right track or no?
  15. Well I managed to fix the issue, it was actually because of the lifespan of the snow particles. The lifespan was the main reason why the game slowed down out of nowhere. It may look like I reduced it too much in this shot, but in-game the snow effect still looks pretty good: All I had to do was change part_type_life(snow,300,400) to part_type_life(snow,0,100) No more slowdowns from this point.
  16. I'm not sure if that could be the issue, I think it lies with just too many particles being produced at once, causing the slowdown. It really sucks though, I like this snow effect, nice and simple :/
  17. Well like I said earlier I'm not too experienced when it comes to graphics and all that, so how would I be able to "accommodate a lesser number of shades" in the graphic? Is this something I would have to do by hand or what? If I can't figure that method out though then I guess I'll just switch to a different pattern and adjust the color pallet. It'd be great if someone could show me a tutorial or something to make the background and foreground share a smaller resemblance. For the snow issue, I honestly do not know why it slows down sometimes. Like it's very random when the game's fps takes a dip. My only real solution at the moment would be to lower the frequency of the snow particles being produced and reduce their lifespan. If someone has a better method of doing a snow effect, I'd like to know.
  18. Nice Game!!!! Thanks for your comments man. The original post for this topic is a bit outdated, as the Act count has been changed to three instead. Also those zones are supposed to be there, Delta just hasn't updated the first post in a VERY long time, since he's been busy lately. And for the interior art, how do you go about "fixing" it? Delta probably isn't able to do anything about it at the moment, so I'll just have to take matters into my own hands for the time being. What suggestions do you have? Advice from anyone would be great, since I'm not really much of a graphics designer.
  19. Posted screenshots of a new zone in the Edge of Darkness thread. Thoughts on it would be very much appreciated :-)

  20. Hello once again everyone! I recently finished Act 2 and the boss Act for Corrupted Canyon Zone and now I'm able to move on to newer levels. First actual screenshots of Antarctic Amethyst Zone (previous screens were just test levels): I may or may not remove the snow effect, because right now it tends to make the game's fps dip into the 50's a couple of times out of randomness.
  21. Okay you should probably chill out, I don't think the guy needed that kind of a response lol
  22. Well, looks like some bots got into the forum. SPAM EVERYWHERE

Yea, it's the first thing I wake up to. I hope this all gets cleaned up soon.

I assume that they live in a world where everything depends on pharmacies that don't require a prescription.

  23. The parallax system in this game is based off from one of the old versions of the Revival engine. It uses an array to store information for the background parts and will just wrap the BG part across the camera infinitely.
  24. Well, you guys may be in a surprise for the SAGE 2014 Act 2 demo. It all really depends if Delta ever finds time again to help work on some resources, because I've been working on this project for the most part lately. :L Wow! I like the way it looks. I can't recall the time when you suggested adding rim shading, must have went totally over my head. Sorry about that. I'll let Delta know about it and see what he can do.
  25. Progress report! ft. Shimmering Shores Act 2 and Corrupted Canyon Act 2 Robotnik is up to no good.. One of Metal Sonic's attacks. (excuse the offset of Metal's sprite) Run through parts of an abandoned factory in Corrupted Canyon Zone Act 2! Also sandfalls.
