  1. 1) Not an awful lot to go on.

    2) An Advance fangame with those bloody Leaf Forest and Neo Green Hill Zone tiles again? Seriously!? Try something more original man! Look at what Sonic Fusion does for reference.

    3) The light/dark pattern of grass looks silly. Grass wouldn't just turn dark and then back to light so suddenly. Perhaps make it fade softly into each shade?

    4) Tails's workshop looks stunning. That's some serious spriting. However, I'm gonna hazard a guess that you didn't make that...

  2. In fact LH I own that game and thought of it when I made the background. I may attempt to further edit the city in the back to look even more 1930ish, which is the look I am going for btw.

You could use graphics from the Mega Drive/Genesis game El Viento which is also set in a similar time.

  3. OF COURSE, THE EXE I SENT YOU! Do you think you can share it here? Since I'm not going to remake that stage... let's give people a little gift.

Not a problem. I'll upload it later when I have access to my external hard drive. Having some laptop issues of my own at the moment.

1 stage demo of LH's Amazing Ocean stage: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B3UQOQLO

I really enjoyed this. I thought the level was really well designed and looked great. Also, finding the red rings was really challenging and well thought out. Give it a go!

  4. I do have a dropbox account, but I never really liked it. Gonna use that, thanks for the advice. Oh, and I'm sorry you all, but I couldn't save the data I made, so you'll probably never see Amazing Ocean and Hidden Palace again. But I'll remake Cheese Hill though. And I'll also make an Eggman Land level to compensate the loss. It'll be such a big level, to complete in at least 8 mins -- and it'll also be HARD, almost the Kaizo way.

I've still got the one stage demo of Amazing Ocean you sent me to test. Could that help?

  5. Seriously, what's the point? I actually don't care what this guy has to offer if it's going to look like those images and if you continue to show any sort of interest in his "project" then you're only feeding his inferiority complex. I'm sure some people on YouTube will think it's the best thing they've ever seen. That should keep him happy.

    I'm sorry.

  6. The thing here was, I noted in my first post that I realized the graphics and etc were not up to snuff. Some people ignored that and still needed to comment on it...and I'm fine with that, too. The only reason I was retorting was to explain my positioning, in why I didn't want to use Sonic Worlds or some other premade engine.

Okay then, hit us up with a demo (or a video at the very least) and prove us all wrong.

And no, I'm not trying to please someone ELSE with my game.

Then why did you bother sharing?

Look man, get off your high horse and do this properly. You can't just expect constructive criticism for a wall of text and some ugly screenshots. You want people to take you seriously? Give them a rolling demo (AKA video) or allow them to play a portion of the game that gives an accurate representation of your "vision". Yes, I realise graphics aren't everything but decent graphics will endear more people to your game because it shows you care about presentation. A well presented product is absolutely key in gaining people's interest. If you can't deliver this then you should have thought about keeping this under wraps for a little longer until you had something decent to show.

One last thing, gamers don't want to see massive descriptions of every individual thing that will be included in your game. They want quick, precise points about what to expect otherwise they'll just look elsewhere. At the moment, the only thing that's made me come back to this forum is the fact you're kicking up a big fuss and not that you've got some kart-racing gimmick in there I want to play. I actually don't care about that in the slightest. After all, this should be a Sonic game and your first port of call should be solid platforming and great level design. Worry about gimmicks later.
