I don't mean homing by itself is redundant, I don't really care if they put homing attacks in the game or not. I just think that if there is no change in difficulty because of the player refusing to use a feature, it's a bad design call. You can always play games "the harder" way (no coins in Mario, White Mage only in Final Fantasy, what you said for Sonic games, etc.), but then the "don't like it? don't use it" argument doesn't really hold much water in my opinion.
