  1. I just wrote this thing up on the spot. o_O Sounds like you guys put a lot more time into this stuff. BlazeHedg: The article holds true even in its age for the majority of its points (as far as I can tell) and while I disagree about some things (eg. I don't think Sonic needs story, or plot, or char development) overall, you seem to touch on a few points of mine and I seem to touch on a few points of yours, so I'm glad to see these things aren't limited to my own views. Dimension: I haven't heard about this idea before, the "worthwhile path", do you have any topics about it?
  2. There are two pics of Goku, and both are completely unemotional. ...that's not right, that's not right at all. In the manga and anime, he was always smiling, stupefied or had a frown on his face. He's not doing any of those... and that's really disappointing. Almost as disappointing as Master Roshi's lack of sunglasses. Glad to see they pulled off a good IRL Bulma though. Just wish they had given Goku and Roshi a bit more time in the costume department.
  3. You learn things when you watch a movie with a guy who works in the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if someone here knew more about the lumber industry than I could ever imagine.
  4. A few months back I did a lot of research on the Sonic 2d to 3d transition, comparing and contrasting it with any other series I could find, but namely Mario. While Mario's transition was by no means perfect, it still ended up as an incredible game, and while the lack of levels compared to SMW and the slower gameplay angered some, the majority loved the game none the less. Edge Magazine wrote an incredible piece on the concept, 2d to 3d, and I would highly suggest looking it up if you have an interest in this sort of thing. Many of my ideas come from that. As for my own research, I have put it in a spoiler tag as to not make this post abnormally large. I will be discussing anything I possibly can here, but will break it up into segments where possible.
  5. Incredible thoughts guys, wish I had shown up here months ago. The interactive segments really do make a Sonic game what it is. Personally, I'd love to see Sonic go the way of Metroid Prime and use all ingame graphics, all the time. It would keep the immersion up. They did it in SA1 and 2, but nothing really since. The main problem now is that because of the diversion from the classic games, the Sonic series has begun to attract fans from other genres. This happened when Star Fox Adventures brought Zelda fans into the SF series, and it ruined the games for everyone else (somehow I always get caught up in these series's). For this reason, I don't think we'll ever see a Sonic game without cutscenes ever again, but, I do think we can have one where the player never loses control during a level (like the Prime series, cut scenes would be at the beginning and end of levels, and maybe when a boss was introduced or a puzzle solved... only, no puzzles in Sonic).
  6. *new guy waves* May as well start in a topic I've been thinking about lately. So I saw Indy at launch with a huge (30-40) group of friends, dressed up last minute (oh come on, the only thing I bought was a fedora down at the Walgreens around the corner for $10), and had a blast. The entire experience was fun, and, in effect, may have swayed my opinion on the film. The CGI monkeys were the worst scene in the entire film, but the quicksand/notquicksand was the best. I haven't laughed that hard at a Ford role since his "death" scene in Crusade. Ultimately, if you knew that ____ were going to be in the movie, you would have gone in pessimistic (myself) and emerged pleasantly surprised. For that reason, I'm going to now spoil that ONE aspect of the movie, and I encourage you all to read this, but I'll tag it anyways. There will be nothing but that one spoiler, so don't worry, I'm not going to ruin the film here: Honestly, I'm not too fond of Lucas's idea in the first place, as it forces the genre for Indy films to jump around far too much. I like what they did in Indy IV though, because they did what Lucas wanted, but also made it feel like an Indy film. If they can do that for the 60s too, I'll be just as happy with Indy V.
