  2. There's nothing really special about that screenshot, it's just some GHZ rips with a different tone of brown and some panels. Though the background is kinda interesting, not sure what the green is supposed to be, is that the sky or the canopy? If it's the canopy, then you should add some shadows around the area where the trunks and the canopy connect because it currently looks like they're just dead trunks. (unless it's what they are, I can't really tell, xD).

  5. Sonic Adventure Emerald 31st August 2014 UPDATE I know this is a little late but there was a demo of my fan game at SAGE 2014 Act 2 and is still available for download: Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ki0a6zxc70z46fq/Sonic+Adventure+Emerald+SAGE+2014+Demo.zip YoYo games: http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/228781-sonic-adventure-emerald-sage-2014-demo {All further demo releases and updates will be posted here} Original Description Why, hello there everyone! Around these parts I'm known as Bartman The Awesome or in simpler terms Bartman814, the leader of Sonic Fan Dev Guild. I have recently joined the Sonic United forums and I'm rather happy to be part of this community =3 So what is this topic about, you might be asking yourself. Well since this is in "Fan Game Showcase" that should give you a hint that I will be telling you about my fan game called Sonic Adventure Emerald. The game started development in December 2011 with the first demo being released in May 2012 with three stages. The next demo, dubbed the "Summer Demo" was released with 3 new stages in August 2012. The most recent demo of the game, the "1 Year Demo" was released on 19th March 2013, adding a new stage totalling up to 7 stages thus far. You can play these versions on my Yoyo games page but bear in mind this is not the 2014 version of the game. The current version of this game started development in August 2013, which happened between a Skype conversation with me and The True Power of Teamwork as he offered to clean up the game a bit. After his part was done I decided to make some of the graphics neater and add elements from the Sonic Fan Dev Engine, the engine Sonic Fan Dev Guild was working on at the time. The game is close to completion as 8 of the 10 stages plus several challenge areas have been completed and a version of SAE will be playable at SAGE 2014 Act 2. Also check out my YouTube channel for more updates on the game! There's also my team Sonic Fan Dev Guild's channel to check out too!

  6. Heya all, I'm WreckingPrograms, also known as WreckingGoomba, also known as djemiegoomba. I'm 15 years old and live in the Netherlands. I decided to join because, while I love Sonic, I never joined a Sonic board before, for some reason. So I thought, why not? Like I stated above, and like everyone here does, I love Sonic, especially the good old Genesis games, of which Sonic 3 and Knuckles is my favourite. I also like Sonic Heroes and Sonic 4 Episode I (dont ask me why xD). I've always been a Mario fan, and I still am, but until recently I didn't really found Sonic too special to me, it was fun to play, but I preferred Mario. A few months ago, however, I tried out the Genesis games again (with Sonic Mega Collection), and found out I'd forgotten how fun fast-paced platforming can be. Since then, I've replayed a lot of Sonic games, and although I still like Mario, Sonic won it for me. I like making games using Game Maker, and I've been using it for 3 and a half years now. Because I didn't like Sonic too much until recently, I've made Mario fangames only. I'm still working on one called Super Mario & The Elemental Orbs. However, I wanted to do something new, because I've always made Mario platformers and I just felt like doing something else as a side project (which later turned out to be a project I'm spending more time on than SMEO). That's why I decided to make an indie (independent) game. I didn't know what genre though, and I experimented with a few genres, like a Minecraft-like sandbox game (Build Infinity) and a platformer in which you could change the tilesets/backgrounds/enemies to have different environments (Environ). However, those didn't really fit my needs, because I didn't enjoy making them too much. That was, until I played the Genesis games again. I enjoyed them so much, that I decided to make an indie game based on them: a high-speed platformer indie game. I know there are already some in progress like Freedom Planet and Spark the Electric Jester, but it's the same with other genres, so I thought it wouldn't matter. The progress is going pretty well for the 3 months I've been working on it now. I'm not gonna show it yet, however, I want to complete the first level along with a lot of objects that still need to be made, then I'll show it to you guys. Some of you may know a forum called MFGG (Mario Fan Games Galaxy), I'm called WreckingGoomba there. It's the site I've been active on for like 2 years now, and as the name already suggests, it's a site about Mario fangames, but indie games are allowed, too. But the community there doesn't have a lot of experience with high-speed platforming, so I barely got useful feedback when I showed them an alpha of my indie. That's another reason why I joined this forum: I want feedback for my game, so I can make it as good as possible. I also have my own forum, http://wgfangaming.jaxboards.com/'>http://wgfangaming.jaxboards.com/, where you can contact me if you'd like, but of course, you can also contact me through this forum. I have no idea why anyone here would contact me though, but yeah, just in case. Anyway, long story short: I'm a new member who like making games, especially high-speed platformers. I currently have one in development, but I'm not gonna showcase it yet. I joined this forum because of the obvious reason: I like Sonic, but I also joined to get some feedback on my indie game when it's showcased. So I guessed that's all, sorry for the long post

  7. @SuperBliz He said that if he releases another version, it'll support 1.3. But for right now, 1.1 or 1.2 should be used with his engine. Oh, and Edge of Darkness is awesome, keep up the good work.

  8. The new HUD for Sonic Reborn:

  9. Perhaps making it smaller would be great. It is fine how it is if the level was constantly going in a straight line, but that HUD effectively is taking up 25% of your total screen space and 50% of the left side of the screen. It looks like it might be a little much. Even if the HUD before still took up space, the fact that there was nothing behind it still allowed for some degree of visibility. I'd find a way to make it more compact but still easy to read to avoid any issues that might arise from traveling left in your levels .

  10. Looks a lot better over the previous one, and the place where the X icon is looks a lot cleaner. For the STR bars though you might want to make them just a bit shorter. They stretch pretty far across the screen.

  12. Experimenting with the idea of custom player creation

  13. Ok; so I made these just to sorta prove a point, about having a style and consistency Nothing in here was drawn. Also I suggest you also organize your roster. Keep fan characters (Black box) in there own section and organize the official dudes too in a way that players can find characters easier. Also, I added a mode option in the "Screen" if your into that. You know like turbo and turbo2 from MvC2 (xbla) I did get lazy making these; but these are just visual feed back suggestions nothing more. Make what you want to make.
