Sonic Heroes Remake Rumors:

It has been rumored a remake of Sonic Heroes using Unreal Engine 5 is being considered by SEGA. Reliable leaker Midori, who also leaked Sonic Toys Party ahead of any official announcement which is still yet to be made, initially stated a remake of Sonic Heroes is being considered using Unreal Engine 5, while also clarifying it will not be released in 2026 or 2027 as prior rumors circulating had suggested. Midori has also clarified there are currently no Sonic Adventure or Sonic Adventure 2 remakes in development.

This information had been covered by major gaming journalists, due to Midori’s prior high accuracy. Since then, Midori left and returned to Twitter. Midori stated several times a remake of Sonic Heroes using Unreal Engine 5 is only being considered and has not started development as of yet, or rather Midori had no information surrounding the remake entering development.

Our Take:

We have heard rumors surrounding a potential remaster of Sonic Heroes for years. We had heard SEGA were looking to remaster Sonic Heroes several years ago and were experiencing issues working out a deal with EA to use the RenderWare engine due to the fees involved. Remaking Sonic Heroes using Unreal Engine 5 would resolve this issue, since RenderWare would no longer be required.
