Naoto Oshima, the co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, has revealed unseen Sonic the Hedgehog concept art before the team had decided on the final name and design. The early draft is titled “Twin Stars” which is an action game about twin brothers who protect the dream world from Nightmare World’s boss ” This concept evolved into Sonic. Naoto Oshima has clarified the similarities between “Twin Stars” and NiGHTS is a coincidence with NiGHTS being a concept consisting of new ideas at the time.
