Sonic Social Media Manager Responds to Sonic Fan Games Being Monetized
Sonic’s official social media manager and influencer manager has responded to recent concerns over Sonic fan games being monetized. Katie Chrzanowski has stated as long as there is no profit involved, fans are allowed to use Sonic the Hedgehog to improve their art and game development skills. Popular Sonic fan game Sonic Omens has recently received criticism for supposedly locking builds of Sonic Omens behind their Patreon, which is essentially a paywall.
Hey Sonic fans – I appreciate you all reaching out with concerns over fan games and monetization!
So long as no profit is involved, there is usually* no issue with y’all using our blue boy to hone your art and dev skills.
*((for legal reasons I can’t promise all content is ok))
We can handle outliers case-by-case as we notice them, but our goal isn’t to stifle everything. Please do not use this thread to call out any specific groups or people; we’re all learning here and I appreciate how receptive everyone I’ve spoken to has been.

She did the right thing here and I believe the Omens creators are in the wrong.
Honestly, I respect the work they’ve put into Omens, but I’m not a fan of their fangame monetisation.
