Sonic Frontiers News Roundup
As Gamescom nears itself around the corner, anticipation for Sonic Frontiers grows higher than ever! During these last few days, there’s been some new details found and showcased for Frontiers.
Starting off, there was a leaked listing for Japanese Sonic Frontiers merchandise by a retailer on the site called Shopee (Taiwan). Merchandise included plushies of both Sonic and a Kocos, cards and brand new artwork featuring Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy as well as two unseen figures. The listing also mentions a side note about DLC being planned and a possible release date of November 15th, 2022.
Next up, news of a brand new Sonic Frontiers commercial in Japan. Yesterday, Japanese users reported seeing a new trailer for the game at theaters just before watching Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022).
Later on in the day, the trailer officially aired during a television run of the first Sonic the Hedgehog film on the TV Tokyo channel in Japan.
In this trailer, we hear multiple lines from an unknown female voice. Later on in the trailer we also get to hear a small snippet of vocals for the song originally heard in the Nintendo Direct trailer for Sonic Frontiers.
This was seemingly unexpected to Sonic soundtrack composer Tomoya Ohtani.
Some time after, a user mentions to him that the singer sounded like the person who sung Fist Bump (Sonic Forces Main Vocal Theme), Ohtani vaguely states that he doesn’t always have the same singer come back again, slightly hinting that it may or may not be someone we’ve heard before.
Finally, this morning as news of the recent commercial started to die down, the official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter posted this tweet rather unexpectedly.
The tweet description mentions that Sonic is currently at some sandy ruins wondering what may be awaiting him. This is possibly our first look at a brand new island which could be the “Sizzling Deserts” mentioned on the official Sonic Frontiers website. Lots of teasers are floating around, some which might be a taste at content to be seen in full at Gamescom next week.
Sonic Frontiers will be there at the Opening Night Live with a world premiere to kick off the event. At the event itself, the game will be available for the public to play for the very first time. Gamescom lasts a total of five days (August 23rd – 28th), so we’ll be sure to see plenty of Sonic Frontiers there. Be sure to stick around for the latest updates!
