SEGA States They Want Sonic to Surpass Mario
In a new interview, SEGA executive director and Osamu Ohashi were asked regarding how the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will be developed in the future. Ohashi stated SEGA want to surpass the Super Mario franchise. Ohashi also clarified they want the movies to perform better and for Sonic to be featured at Universal Studios.
Simply put, I want to surpass Mario. Sonic is a game that was originally developed to compete with Mario, and it still hasn’t achieved that goal. Our goal is to catch up and surpass Mario because we respect Mario. I want people to play it all over the world, including Japan, like Mario, and I want the movie to be a bigger hit than Mario. I would like USJ to create a ‘Sonic Area’ as well. That’s our goal for those of us who love Sonic.
Osamu Ohashi clarifies the future of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic Superstars is the latest entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and currently holds a Metacritic score of 73/100. Super Mario Bros. Wonder released days after Sonic Superstars and currently holds a Metacritic score of 92/100.
