Ryan Drummond in Talks to Voice Sonic Again

Following Roger Craig Smith’s departure from voicing Sonic, Ryan Drummond has revealed he is in talks to possibly resume voicing Sonic again. During a live stream, Ryan Drummond revealed his agent has reached out to SEGA to discuss possibly returning to the role.

Well I wish I could but we don’t really know anything yet, do we? You know as much as I know. We don’t want to get kinda bogged down with this conversation topic but I will, uh, I don’t have any trouble in telling everyone who’s here in the chat tonight that my agent did contact SEGA today so hopefully there will be a conversation and we’ll see what happens after that. There’s a lot of different factors that people don’t even realize that are in play here, so.

Ryan Drummond responds to a fan asking whether he will return to voicing Sonic.

Ryan Drummond voiced Sonic from 1998-2004 before being replaced with Jason Griffith. Drummond almost returned to voicing Sonic again in 2010, however due to issues at the time regarding SEGA and Drummond’s union, plans for Drummond to return fell through and Roger Craig Smith was chosen instead. Since then, Ryan Drummond has been very involved in the community, such as attending fan conventions and recently voicing Sonic in the fan radio series Sonic & Tails R, along with many other former voice actors of the series.

This is not confirmation Drummond actually is returning to voice Sonic, as SEGA has not yet responded. This is just Drummond’s agent reaching out to to SEGA to see whether it’s possible or not for Drummond to reprise the role. It’s very early, however there is a small possibility we could hear Ryan Drummond voicing Sonic again. Do you want to hear Drummond voicing Sonic again?
