Michelle Ruff Has Not Recorded New Voice Clips for Cream Since Acquiring the Role

Michelle Ruff has been the current voice for Cream the Rabbit since 2010. The voice actress has spoken out regarding old voice clips recorded for Sonic Colors in 2010 being featured in more recent spin-off titles.

MICHELLE RUFF: So with Cream the Rabbit, I recorded her back in 2010 for Sonic Colors. Well, they reused my recordings for future projects and apparently, I had signed something giving them permission to do that.

I don’t remember, but all of these future Sonic games that have come out with Cream the Rabbit in them, I have made no money off of them at all.

Everybody’s like, ‘You’re Cream the Rabbit in all these games!’ Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics 2016. And I’m like, I did not record one line for any of those games.

They just lifted what I did from 2010. It’s like you can’t afford to give me a day player contract for using my voice and a new game? I don’t know, it just doesn’t feel great.

While reusing voice clips is fairly standard, the voice actress has not worked with SEGA since 2010, likely due to Cream the Rabbit being a partially retired character. Regardless, the voice actress is seemingly still considered by SEGA to be the current voice for the character.
