Iizuka Confirms No Plans for Sonic Prime Video Game
Iizuka has stated in a new interview with 4Gamer, unlike the Sonic Boom spin-off series, the upcoming series Sonic Prime will not receive its own video game. Iizuka has stated this is because Sonic Prime is based on Modern Sonic.
4Gamer: I was also surprised at the announcement of the production of the new animation. What is the content of “SONIC PRIME”?
Mr. Iizuka: We plan to distribute it on Netflix in 2022. “SONIC BOOM” (2014. Japanese title: Sonic Toon) was a setting unique to anime, but this time it will be based on the same modern sonic as the game. We are currently working hard, centered on the Man of Action people who have a lot of experience in producing animation in the United States.
4Gamer: With Netflix, you can expect delivery in Japan.
Mr. Iizuka: Yes. We are planning to distribute it worldwide, so maybe Japanese localization will be done as well.
4Gamer: Is there a possibility that it will be made into a game like “SONIC BOOM”?
Mr. Iizuka: There are no plans for that at the moment. In the first place, “SONIC PRIME” has the same settings as the game and is based on Modern Sonic, so I don’t think it is necessary to do that now.
