  1. I planned for Tails' most important role in the game to be at the very end. Otherwise he'll follow Sonic around unless you choose to play Sonic alone or Tails alone. Much like in Sonic 2.
  2. Howdy fellow fan-gamers! It's about time that I make my project more public. I posted a link to the project website at the start of SAGE 09' on another forum as a sneak peek but that was it. I did notice a previous attempt here to make a game with a similar title, but it appears that it was dropped. This one is for keeps and development will continue to the very end, guaranteed. This is my only hobby, so there is no reason why the game wouldn't reach full completion. The main project website is http://www.soniccd2fangame.webs.com Development of this game is being done using the Sonic Worlds engine - an excellent tool that will get the job done. There are already three playable levels that were made with Multimedia Fusion 2 but they are not quality enough to be released so they are being re-worked in the worlds engine. The first zone construction has already been started. All of the existing tilesets and designs are being transferred into the engine from their old MMF apps and also rendered to perfection. Current WIP Title Screen The first zone and its foreground graphics. Background has not been implemented yet. Everything else is shown or explained on the website, story and all. The first demo is being built as of now and it will be revealed at SAGE 2010. - That gives me almost a full year to get it ready. Any other news about the project will be posted here or on the website. Feedback is greatly appreciated.
  3. I am enjoying the stoyline of the game. This project has a great list of zones and descriptions of each. We have some talented artists to help with them too but we could definitely use more help. I am currently offering my services as an atrist but at the same time, i'm juggling multiple projects. I'm mainly focusing on Nexus right now and working on zone art. I have yet to contribute art and ideas for Project: Sonic Retro after I stepped down from leader. I did make a commitment to help Bill with Sonic Gemini so i'll be working as much as I can to meet satisfaction of all projects. We do need more help with this one.
  4. Hexagon Hill Zone Atomic Chaos Zone Tetra Hydro Zone Rainbowplex Zone Electropolis Zone Revelation Galaxy Zone Mystic Egg Zone I'm good at 8 bit sprites I should make some of these.
  5. I am so into this game and it excites me everytime I play the demo. You guys are good!
  6. It does look really good, I am hooked on it. Here's another one I made:
  7. Actually, I was hoping to see it in one of those sweeeet classic based projects going on out there. There's a lot of really good projects out there. Sonic XG and Sonic Nexus is an example. Or do you think a whole new project should be started with this zone in it? (Probably a 4th level)
  8. That's exactly what I am thinking too, but I need some help. Fellow hackers, I need your talent! Below is a "hoax" that I created to show what I would like Tetra Hydro Zone to look like: I'm not a hacker or anything. Who wants to take this on?
  9. I finished a map of this level (ACT 1) and I did some tweaking of the graphics. It looks nice. Just wanted to update so nobody thinks I abandoned this zone. I want to see it come to life. I've been using CNC to create the map, does anyone recommend anything better?
  10. Sweet. I'll start on Hexagon Hill Zone while I finish THZ.
  11. I'm still hard at work on this zone. I'm changing the background to match Sonic CD-ish designs/sprites. I'll post more as it comes. Any other recommendations?
  12. I wish I had MMF. I'm stuck with CNC and it's been pissing me off... I put my entire level ACT 1 together using CNC and it all of a sudden decided to convert all of my colors to 256 and it looks really bad. Where can I get MMF for download?
  13. I was having trouble coming up with the right colors for this background. I edited it some more. I may just redo the whole thing if it doesn't look right (usually better next time anyway). I need some feedback here. Below is my original sketch... The most recent background edit... The most recent ground tiles...
  14. The background needs work but not too much. I think it looks good too and may need some minor color changes. What do you recommend Serephim?
  15. I'm glad the ground tiles, etc. is agreed apon, thanks for the feedback. Onto the background. I think it needs more work. I'll be detailing the window as well. So what else do you think needs improvement?
  16. I made some more adjustments and while doing so I also put together this screenshot:
  17. I took a screenshot of Labyrinth Zone and I found that most of the blocks actually are 32x32 as well. Should I keep the new blocks like that too?
  18. Using 16x16 and 32x32 resolution, I shrunk these blocks and made adjustments:
  19. I may have to redo most of it. Do you mean 32 x 32 tiles?
  20. You are right, thanks for pointing that out Blue Frenzy, I fixed it. Looks nice. I'm doing a lot of shading too. What do you think about the blocks?
  21. I'm back to work on the blocks, actually finishing up and I came up with this so far: So what last minute ideas do you guys have? Special thanks goes to those who already helped me out and if anything else, here's your chance. I'll check back before I continue.
  22. That looks very good, I experimented with it last night and came up with interesting results. The rest of the blocks required much shading too, I referenced from Labyrinth Zone.
  23. Shading would be beneficial. I did just that, but then I got stuck wondering what else I can do to this brick. What do you guys suggest?
  24. UPDATE: I changed everything for the graphics in Tetra Hydro Zone over the Memorial Day weekend .. and I think it is quite a turnout. Here are some sketches of what I have planned out for the zone and their near-finished art from the computer. The Main Background - 85% complete: The Ground/Play Area - 25% complete: I am still working on everything and updates will be posted as soon as I complete more through the week. Also a level map coming soon. Ideas welcome.
