Also it's really bothering me that people are using the fact that this isn't a main series title as an excuse for poor game play.

Dude, Neo, a simple pallette swap would do that background well. Just make it like at night or something. Then we can focus on the character's actions, which as we know are ESSENTIAL TO A FIGHTER. We must be able to differentiate characters from one another.
That's actually kind of a problem with the roster aswell... There are like 10 hedgehogs, and maybe 5 characters whose primary color is black. That Radical Highway type stage you showed in a video was great, and was easy on the eyes too.
there are no radical highway type stages in sonic speed fighters 2.......... so what do you mean.......

Why don't you try the demo? If it's to your liking, then get it.
If you don't like Steam you can wait until the DRM free version comes out.
where is the demo, because if its on steam... i still don't see myself playing it.

Then work on having so much of the sky taking so much of the screen, its too bright and takes up too much, in the original screenshot it doesn't look like that.

It's a fighting game, it is a big deal keeping track of your characters. If the graphics don't allow you to follow the characters well, there's a problem.
theres some things i'm going to do, and some things i don't see the need changed.

It just never attracts anything helpful. I'm tired of seeing fangamers preemptively putting up defense and warding off people about how their new game isn't Lake's. It's aggravating.
The colors in the background of this image are way too powerful, focusing on the characters causes eye strain. You should probably desaturate it a bit.
