  1. Some may remember Sonic GEDA a while ago. Well, it's still in production and a great deal of progress has been done also. If no one remembers, the story is simple: Dr. Eggman is planning to use the power of the seven emeralds to power his latest creation: codename "GEDA-X9". Being a Death Egg remodel, it will contain power that the Death Egg couldn't handle, but needs the chaos emeralds to work. It's up to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to stop him before he dominates Mobius. Here's the current zone list: (some are working titles) Zone 1: Gloom Valley Zone Zone 2: Cosmic Speedway Zone Zone 3: Oceanway Marina Zone Zone 4: Scorching Desert Zone Zone 5: Tymple Tantrum Zone Zone 6: Mt.   2. The gameplay is good, but the deceleration needs just a little tweaking. The only thing I see is with the item boxes. It's a little glitchy, like being able to only break it if your already touching it before you jump. I still have this same exact issue today, but it is minor and can be fixed, and it doesn't distract the gameplay.

  4. Sonic GEDA is still in production, and here's some progression screens of Zone 5: Scorching Heat Zone. I've finally finished coding in Knuckles. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) So the game now has Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as playable characters. More screens to come soon.

  7. Well, I guess tutorials & examples will have to do for now, as they aren't hard to understand.
  8. I was just wondering where I could find a 2D C++ Sonic Engine. I know C++, but when I tried to make one, I got stuck because I didn't really know where to start out. I also tried searching for some, but the best one I could find was the ProSonic Engine and it hasn't even been released yet. So, does anyone have or know where I could find a Sonic Engine in C++ or are there even any out there at the time. Thanks.

  10. After using Microsoft Visual Basic for a couple of weeks, I started wondering if there were any better programs for creating 2D games in C++ out there. What do you guys think is the best, or easiest to work with?
  11. You could use the background as a sprite, but that would probably make the game slower. There's another way; you could use the background_visible variables. For example: Create Event: ( 0 = invisible , 1 = visible ) alarm[0] = 1;[/CODE] Alarm[0] Event: [CODE]background_visible[0] = 0; background_visible[1] = 1; alarm[1] = 10;[/CODE] Alarm[1] Event: [CODE]background_visible[0] = 1; background_visible[1] = 0; alarm[0] = 10;[/CODE] Now I think there are other ways to do it, but this is the way I use for animated backgrounds.

  13. I have decided to add Tails as a playable character. I have just recently completed Tails movement and animations. I have screens of some of his beta game play; along with a new title screen: (click to enlarge) EDIT: Oh yeah, I took everyone's advice and made the springs and monitors solid!
  14. The beta will be released on either Sunday-Dec 30th or Monday- Dec 31. I'm all done with most of the character main actions. The beta will include Stage 1 from both Hero and Neutral Stories. I have changed around the Neutral Plot a bit (re-read first post). Instead of having Gamma as the main character, the Neutral story revolves around Metal Sonic. He will be alongside two other characters in the story which have NEVER made an appearance together ever in a Sonic game. I also have a couple of fully working Menus. the current ones are: Mode Selection Menu: Story Mode, Options, and Mini Games. Story Mode: Hero Story and Neutral Story Options: (incomplete) Game Info Mini Games: As of now, they are character beta tests. Soon there will be a system where you can unlock various mini games such as Tails Flight Adventure, Pinball, and more. So along with the beginning of the Hero and Neutral Stories, in the mini games menu will be the engine tests of Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, and Amy. So ease up, a good beta is on the way. EDIT: By the way, for all of you Sonic Geda fans, a little something is also heading your way pretty soon.

  16. I said no demo anytime soon. But I didn't say no beta's. Come on, New Years is next week. Do you think I'd keep everyone waiting a billion years until I finish the game. Of course not. There will be a beta test of, if not all most, of the entire game's characters. So don't worry, I'm not all scrooged. lol. PS- I was trying not to tell people of a beta. It was going to be a surprise. But since you said what you said, I just had to break it.
  17. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG RG NOTE: Before anyone starts tripping, yes, I am still working on Sonic Geda and it is well into production. This is a side project I am working on also. It won't make a good appearance until after Sonic Geda is almost complete, so don't expect a huge demo anytime soon. MAIN STORY DR. EGGMAN IS AT IT AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME HE CREATES A MACHINE WHICH EVEN HE DOESN'T KNOW THE TRUE POWER IT REALLY POSSESSES: THE RANDOM GENERATOR. SHADOW HAD BEEN HAVING THIS FEELING OF A DANGEROUS EVENT WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE, SO SONIC AND HIS FRIENDS SET OUT TO SEE WHAT EGGMAN IS PLANNING, AND TO STOP ANY TYPE OF DANGER THAT THREATENS THE PLANET. FEATURES THE ENTIRE GAME IS FLUXUATED AROUND TWO STORIES, HERO & NEUTRAL. THERE ARE THREE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS IN HERO MODE: SONIC, TAILS, AND KNUCKLES. SONIC'S GAMEPLAY IS BASED ON SPEED AND COMPLETING A LEVEL. TAILS'S GAMEPLAY IS BASED ON COMPLETING MISSIONS LIKE LOCATING AN EXIT OR FINDING ALTERNATE ROUTES TO HELP THE HEROES ADVANCE IN THEIR QUEST. KNUCKLES'S GAMEPLAY IS BASED ON SOME EMERALD HUNTING, ALONG WITH A FEW MISSIONS SUCH AS FINDING AND DESTROYING A SPECIFIC POINT. NEUTRAL MODE IS A SUB STORY WITH METAL SONIC AS THE MAIN CHARACTER. ALL THE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS IN NEUTRAL MODE ARE: METAL SONIC, ROUGE, AND AMY. METAL SONIC'S GAMEPLAY IS BASED ON SPEED, ALONG WITH MISSIONS DEALING WITH DESTROYING OBSTACLES WHICH PREVENT THE STORY FROM PROGRESSING. ROUGE'S GAMEPLAY IS BASED ON FINDING ALTERNATE ROUTES AND EXIT GATES & SUCH TO ADVANCE THE STORY AND HELP METAL REACH G.U.N. CENTRAL CONTROL. AMY'S GAMEPLAY IS BASED ON MISSIONS SUCH AS CLEARING ENEMY PATHWAYS, AND MAKING THE ADVENTURE A LOT MORE EASIER FOR THE THREE. CHARACTERS IN ORDER OF STORIES HERO STORY: (Good Characters) Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Knuckles, and Amy HERO STORY: (Bad Characters) Dr. Eggman and ??? NEUTRAL STORY: (Neutral Characters) Rouge, Metal Sonic, and Amy NEUTRAL STORY: (Obstacle Characters) G.U.N. ???? STORY: (Good Characters) Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Metal Sonic, and Dr. Eggman. ???? STORY: (Bad Characters) [???] secret character STORY PLOTS HERO STORY: The team of heroes are warned of a disasterous event from Shadow which will seemingly be caused by Dr. Eggman. The doctor has created the ultimate weapon, The Random Generator, which was named because Eggman created it to do random things. Little does he know that his generator is really the universes deadliest weapon, capable of disturbing a fearsome beast that rests in the Andromeda galaxy. The team doesn't catch onto what really is going to happen until things start to not go their way. Now it's up to the heroes to foil Eggman's plan before it's too late for him too. NEUTRAL STORY: Rouge was out on a gem hunting adventure. She came accross a bright and sunny beach, and finds one of Eggman's old robots (METAL) buried in the sand. Amy is strolling through the beach, and notices Rouge struggling to pull Metal up from out of the sand. She goes over to give Rouge a hand, and as soon as Metal is pulled up from the sand, he reactivates. Amy and Rouge both stand guard, making sure he wasn't tempted to attack them both; but Metal explains that he was dumped out here by G.U.N. after they thought he was old and broken, and now he wants dire revenge. Metal gets up, heading towards the G.U.N. facility. Afraid for him, Rouge and Amy both go after him, trying to convince him not to go back. He refused to listen to reason. To prevent guilt, Rouge and Amy both set out behind him on his adventure.   18. Kinda figured that. I'll see if I can change this and I'll edit back. EDIT: Still no luck. He just won't stay on the wall at all. I really don't know what to do about it now.
  19. Using one of Dami's crouch down and rolling engines, I'm having problems with Knuckles gliding. When he collides with the wall, he does nothing, and just falls as if he walked off a cliff. What am I doing wrong?
  20. mostly character sounds like jumping, 1up, etc. also player collisions like the dash pads, and springs.
  21. Where can I get the sound effects from Sonic the Hedgehog 06. I've been looking for days now, and can't seem to come across not a single one. Can someone please help?
  22. Just a small update with a few pics and info of Zone 2 Hydroxicy Tympest Zone. NEWLY ADDED: Better forced rolling, wavy underwater effect, full fledged drowning system complete with sounds. Took me a while to get working perfectly, so much time was spent on this. It looks much better in the game, so the pictures don't show the real graphic detail. This level is a WIP. Will be updating again soon. EDIT: Oh, yeah, thanks guys for the good comments
